Beyond beautiful, cozy stay at The Hobbit House. Comfortable, clean. Has everything you would need. Deep in the woods feeling and yet a 15 minute walk to the center of Cashiers. Truly a piece of heaven.
Cozy and comfortable retreat with everything we needed to grill wonderful dinners, enjoy the crackling fire and enjoy peaceful nature! Cottage was very clean and well stocked with linens and cookware.
We loved staying in the Hobbit House for our week in Cashiers! It was very convenient to everything we wanted to do & the cottage is nice & cozy! Perfect for me & my husband & our pup!
The property has an ideal location to downtown Cashiers, however, still has the seclusion of a mountain cabin. Host was very attentive and checked with us to see if everything was to our liking. Would always recommend staying at the Hobbit House.
Had a wonderfully romantic and restful stay. Truly just what my wife and I needed. Cannot wait to come back. Host was the best and this adorable hideaway cannot be beat.
My wife and I loved staying at this cottage. It was cute, serene, well-maintained, and very comfortable. The hostess Donna was very quick to respond if I had any questions and she was professional. If you’re considering staying at this cottage I highly recommend it.
My husband and always try new places and this is one of our favorites thus far!! We had an amazing, and relaxing time. The host is very communicative and friendly. They made sure we had every necessary for a great stay.
The Hobbit House in Cashiers, NC is, well I’m at a lost for words, but I only need one, Perfect. The decor, the proximity to downtown, the coziness, just a wonderful place. Add the hospitality of Donna the owner and this is a slam dunk 5 star property.
Had a great three night stay. The cabin was super cozy and had everything that we needed. Built a fire all three nights, and really enjoyed crashing in front of it on the couch after hiking all day. Whiteside Mountain is definitely worth the effort. Ranger Falls between Highlands and Franklin was a nice on too.
We had a wonderful time. The cabin was a perfect getaway for the two of us (and our small pup). Despite rainy weather, we hiked, enjoyed the local restaurants, and lingered over coffee on the front porch.
Everything was just as advertised and couldn’t have been better!
Definitely a fantastic escape! The location was very convenient to anywhere we wanted to go yet it felt like it we were a world away once we settled in. The home was well furnished and had all we needed plus some! Definitely want to go back!
The Hobbit house was everything as advertised!! Perfect for me and my husband. Location was perfect! We had lovely dinners in Cashiers, shopping and lunch in Highlands. Explored Lake Glenville and a beautiful hike. Looking forward to future visits.
My husband and I visit the “Hobbit House” each year, and it is a gift. The house is beautifully decorated, so comfortable, and has every amenity you would need. Whether you venture out to all that the Cashiers/Highlands area has to offer or just cozy up and relax indoors, this is the place for you.
This cabin nesseled and tucked away in the woods is anyone's dream. The owners could not have been more accommodating and our only complaint is that we have to leave!!!
cozy and comfortable for 2 people and wonderful porch swing. Bathroom is downstairs from bedroom. No mountain views but not far from some good trails to hike to see views.
Betty, were so glad y’all visited the Hobbit House and I’m glad you had a good time. But the things I interpret as criticisms...no Mountain views and bathroom downstairs from the loft bedroom) are clearly described and seen from pictures in the listing. Careful reading of a listing will aid you In future bookings-we never want guests to be disappointed!

wonderful place
We will never rent any property through VRBO, now owned by EXPEDIA. They charge a high fee for the use of their website which DID NOT WORK!
Well, I see the title is "wonderful place" , so I suppose there's that.
This is not a place for rating VRBO, so your 3 stars is something they won't see or care about, but I do. They do now charge a service fee over which owners have NO control. Not to be a VRBO apologist, but many sites do the same. I'm not sure what you mean about their website not working.
And when you think about it, it really it was your choice to book, and you accepted the fees, so why write something negative afterwards?
I do hope you enjoyed your stay.
All that said, we hope you
This house is not only cozy but full of details that so many rentals lack. I truly felt like I was at home when so many other places made me feel like I was just there. I loved the front porch. All it was missing was so nearby bird feeders so I could watch birds while drinking my coffee. I love that the property felt secluded yet it was 2 minutes from downtown. My husband and I will have to come back when the coronavirus is over as most of the stores and restaurants were understandablely closed.
Michelle, the reason bird feeders are unwise in the mountains is that they attract black bears in the area...that, no one needs! Just asking for trouble...
everything was grand except towela were damp, not fully dried from previous tenants. Also, lavatory in bath was hard to use as faucet was wrongly installed in relations to sink.
Hi Judith, so sorry about not quite dry towels-the housekeeper must have been a bit rushed that day for some reason but I’ll speak to her! And you are correct- the faucet is a little awkward, not hard to use but needs to be an inch or two higher, agreed.
Beautiful fairytale cottage with bark siding, a wide sitting porch across the front, a wood-burning fireplace with the wood supplied, comfy couch, well stocked functional kitchen, washer/dryer, wonderful large shower, and comfy bed upstairs. Oh and a wonderful cushioned porch swing! What more could you want? One small attraction as there isn’t a lot of space to store, suitcases, bags, coats, boots, etc. Bedroom does not have shelving or a dresser. There are just a couple suggestions we would make. Screens in ALL of the windows, not just the front. Some shelving in the kitchen to place groceries. Maybe a shelf hung over the toilet to place toiletries. We had a wonderful stay and cashiers as a charming little town with a great coffee shop - Buck’s - and a superb Ingles grocery store just down the road. A short drive away is Highland, a lovely walking town.
I first traveled to the Highlands/Cashiers Plateau as host of 'Great Country Inns' for The Learning Channel, and after traveling all over the world for tv work...this was the place that stopped me in my tracks. The weather in the summer is so incredible for those of us used to scorching 90+ temps...balmy 75 degree days, but so cool at night you can light a fire. Also lovely in the fall and spring....cozy in the winter...it was where we always wanted to own a home. Now we do and love sharing it with guests. We hope you plan a visit to enjoy the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Warning: you may never want to leave!
Who doesn't love the idea of a cozy little bark covered cottage in the woods? This hideaway is just perfect for two people, snuggled into the mountain laurel, with walking trails right outside the door, plus restaurants, shopping and everything you need just 2 minutes away. The modern convenience is amazing, the rustic charm undeniable.
You're super close to Cashiers...seriously, the two of you could walk to the Village Green. Yet you're in the middle of a beautiful green forest of old rhododendrons and pine, right outside your door. You can hike, bike, shop, golf, eat out, fly fish...or just relax. It's all there!
