We had an amazing time at the beach house. It was so close to everything but tucked away in a cute neighborhood. Everything was clean and ready for our arrival. We especially loved the third level deck! Amazing ocean breezes in both the morning and evening!

The house was more spacious than the photos make it out to be. We loved the upstairs deck. Super convenient to anywhere. Would stay again.

Perfect rental for a quick getaway for myself and my husband! It ended up being a last minute scheduling, but that process went smoothly and quickly. The inside of the house was perfect, clean, and homey! Well stocked with kitchen supplies, towels, blankets, and beach goodies. The top deck, though it was the best spot, was pretty worrisome, structural wise. But then it could just be our own worries lolIf I had to mention anything wrong (only bc it's in the rental agreement that if we left this, we could be fined) was that there was a couple things left outside from whomever prior, which we mentioned to the host.

Cozy stay in KDH

We very much enjoyed our stay at Captain's Cabin OBX. Everything was very clean; the bedding was super comfortable as were the living room sofas, and a great TV that accomodates multiple streaming services. Nice touches included the Keurig coffee bar in the kitchen, the pump bottles of shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the shower, and the sound machines in the bedroom. The neighborhood was quiet, the neighbors friendly, it was a short walk to the sound & close to shopping & restaurants. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying there again.

DO NOT STAY HERE

Pictures deceive this so called cabin. One the downstairs sitting area is completely un useable. Down stairs door code lock didn’t work. Down stairs “dry” access entry stairs are so dark you’d be lucky to not hurt yourself. Couches are badly stained and used up. Found some one’s dirty socks stuffed in shell vase on coffee table. Bed’s feel (and are) so used you fall in a hole on each side. Bathroom was simple and barely clean enough to feel clean when you leave it, don’t open that linen closet! Disturbing! Towels were so used even tho bleached white visible stains on them. Stayed one night out of four& imagine that owners won’t communicate. Just got ripped 1100 . Clearly fake reviews have been added. do your self a favor and do not rent this place. Ruined our OBX trip!Jeff & Juliet 5/25/25

Goal: provide detailed & balanced overview of property & our stay experience.Pros- Kitchen: good counter space. - Washer & dryer, outdoor shower, keyless entry, beach parking pass useful and handy.- Main area is relaxing for reading etc.- Decks add living space. - Quiet neighborhood w/almost no traffic. Overall private feel.Cons- Cleanliness of bathroom, kitchen, floors good. But many areas needed a good cleaning (baseboards, coffee table, window sills, end tables, decorative items). - At check in, ground level seating area had animal droppings. Did not leave a good impression; furniture also had sand on it. - 2 wet & soiled washcloths were sitting in the washing machine. - Kitchen reasonably clean, but cupboards & drawers VERY disheveled. Lots of utensils, etc, but the only "pancake flipper" heat damaged. One burner unpredictable.- Outdoor deck has seen better days. Had to be careful not to catch feet on nailheads. Topmost deck has a vertical railing post missing. - Furniture in main room is so-so. Well used & dingy.- Hair dryer missing.- Very dim lighting in staircase.- Mattress in yellow room has depressions. I slept with head at foot of bed.Very positive reviews from prior years. When furniture & mattresses were newer, decks in better condition, cleanliness and organization taken care of, items not missing, 5 star reviews make sense. We feel the property could use some attention to restore five star experience.

Cute and Comfortable

The cottage was cute and simple, super comfortable memory foam mattresses and a nice Keurig coffee maker every morning. The house was very clean, with several “well loved” couches. The smart TV allowed us to stream using our own accounts in the evening and we loved walking along the sound each night to watch the sunset. Captain’s Cabin owners were very attentive and access to the home was super simple and easy. This was our first time renting a VRBO in the Outer Banks, so it was a little odd to have to sign a separate agreement and place a deposit prior to our vacation, but maybe this is normal for OBX? We’ll be sure to bring our dog next time to this quiet and family friendly area.

Weekend Getaway

Property was quintessential beach and was opportunistic to everything we were looking to do while in the OBX. We were allowed to have our dogs stay with us in the home, which made the trip super easy and less stress for us. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a cute place in Nags Head!

Property was in a great location close to beaches, shopping, resturants, and within easy driving distance of several lighthouses. The neighborhood was safe and neighbors friendly. The home had all the supplies needed for our stay and it was clean. Owners communicated well with us prior to our trip and provided all the information needed for easy check in. Would book again!

Perfect Weekend Away

This home was clean and comfortable and included linens and extra touches. The location is close to restaurants and activities, and the home had a parking pass for beach access at Avalon Pier so we could park and visit the beach and my hub and could fish from the pier. We enjoyed our time at the beach and will return.
