LOCATION - Approximately 7 miles from Main Street
HOSTS - Home to yourselves on 16 acres. There is a separate accommodation on the property (Wine Cup Cabin) but it is around 300 feet away.
SLEEPS - 6 persons; King bed and daybed with trundle in primary bedroom and queen bed in second bedroom
BATH - 2 baths; Primary bath has a large bubble tub and walk-in shower and second bath has a tub/shower combo
KITCHEN - Full kitchen
BREAKFAST - No breakfast; coffee & tea are provided
AMENITIES - Smart TV (bring your own login information), hot tub, quiet country setting on 17 acres, abundant wildlife, covered front porch with comfy chairs & views of the countryside, covered outdoor lounge area, a gazebo with table & chairs (available during the day only), pond

The home is dog-friendly and will accept up to two dogs that each 30 lbs or less. However, there is a pet fee of $27/dog/night (before tax). Due to the fact that HomeAway/VRBO does not allow us to charge for more than one dog at the time of booking, please let us know if you will be bringing more than one dog, so that we can make sure that you are charged the correct amount. If you bring more than one dog and do not let us know, you will be charged accordingly. Furthermore, please bring crates for your dogs and crate them in your absence from the house, do not allow the dogs on furniture or beds, and pick up and properly dispose of their waste. If these rules are not followed, there will be an additional $200 charge added to your reservation. Dogs are not allowed to wander unattended on the property. Neighbors have livestock and allow hunting on their properties, so it is extremely important that dogs do not cross the fence lines.

Please be aware that the house has an exterior camera on its front that faces the driveway and front porch.

Please Note: You are renting a cabin in the Hill Country which means you may encounter wildlife (Snakes, Deer, Racoons, ETC). Please be aware of your surroundings, and take caution while driving at night. You may also encounter the various bugs, spiders, scorpions and mice that live in the country AND sometimes do make their way inside. All properties do utilize pest control services on a regular basis BUT this does not guarantee no pests or bugs will be visible.

We loved being out away from the busy areas of Fredericksburg. We woke up with deer at our windows every morning. The beds were comfy and overall everything we needed was there. The main bedroom is spacious and has a really nice closet and bath. Also we loved the hot tub.

This is a great property in a fantastic location - close enough to town to be 15 min from everything, but far enough out to be "away." I only have 2 criticisms. 1) the listing and pictures identify an outdoor dining space. It exists, but during our stay it was covered in discarded packing materials and leaves. Clearly no one had tidied it or swept it out. 2) The hot tub was not ready for guests. We didn't try it until day 2 of our stay and found it at 81 degrees. From there, it takes 2-3 hours to warm up to 104 degrees. That wouldn't be an issue if the check-in instructions said anything like "activate hot tub upon arrival" or something. We hadn't planned for a 3 hour wait between a desire to use the hot tub and the ability to use the hot tub. So, it was pretty much a wasted amenity for us. Otherwise the space was plenty big with everything you need for a weekend away. Knowing what I know now, I would definitely stay here again. I would just plan things differently.

Restorative Break

If you're ever looking for a house to stay in countryside near Fredericksburg, TX, I highly recommend the Hummingbird Haus. A restorative break was had by all who stayed here.

Needs attention

House was nice and a good size but there were not any window coverings on any of the windows. Road to the house had major potholes in it. Surroundings were very unkempt and didn’t feel safe walking around outside because grass and weeds were too high. There was a dead limb on one side of the front yard. The grill was pretty much unusable because charcoal was left in the grill and the rack was filthy. There wasn’t anything to clean it with and trying to burn it off would not work. We were going to broil our food in the oven but there was not a pan that would work for that. The kitchen lacked the necessary pans, etc. also, the kitchen lacked a few things. There was not any foil. Saran Wrap or anything to use to cover food with or plastic containers to keep it in. No salt and pepper shakers. We go every year somewhere and every other place has these things in the cabin. You might want to put that on your listing for people to bring that kind of stuff. Also, the dishes were dirty! We had to wash them before we could use them. It was very hard to prepare a meal because of lack of cooking utensils. We feel the kitchen was not prepared for cooking. The fire extension you said was there, we found in the garage on the floor. Doubt it would work if needed. The road to get to the house was full if pot holes and not car friendly. If you were in a truck, you probably could have made it a little better. Didn’t see much wild life but that was mute will try to write more somewhere

The property is about 2 miles west of the airport and 5 miles to Main Street of Fredericksburg. The property was clean and well kept inside.

Spring Trip

Honestly, the house was not clean. Master bath shower had black mold all around the bottom, we had to buy cleaning solution before we could shower. We found mouse droppings in the kitchen drawers, so we had to wash all the dishes before use. The Direct TV satellite did not work. The front door entry code did not work, needs batteries. The side door was left unlocked, luckily. There is no garbage can close to the house, you have to drive the trash to the road, daily. The refrigerator is not the greatest, not cold enough.

It was a nice place. Loved the deer and the quiet. It needs a very deep cleaning. Everything had dust and the floors needed to be swept. There were bugs under the vanity it just needs to be cleaned really well. I would definitely look for new house cleaners.

Secluded but close

Very nice place about 10 minutes or so from Main Street. Nice and peaceful. I do think all faucets and shower heads could use a deep clean or fully replaced and maybe some pots and pans could be replaced

Master bath shower could use improvement on the shower head. Master bath left sink faucet needs to be replaced. The coffee maker needs to be cleaned, didn't work very well The refrigerator keeps things cool, not cold. Other then those few things we loved the space and the peaceful countryside and the view from the front windows.
