Amazing Stay!

We had a fantastic stay and cannot say enough great things about this house! We have never been to Houston and were worried about staying in a bad area while we dropped our son off at a camp. A friend recommended that we stay in this area, right around Rice, and they were absolutely correct - the location is perfect. The house was in a beautiful, quiet, and walkable neighborhood. We could walk to restaurants and walk our dogs. The house had more than enough room, was spotless, and had plenty of towels, kitchen items, and other essentials. There was even a beautiful backyard area, and we sat out every morning to have coffee. We want to thank the host for such a great trip, and we will definitely stay here again when we return to Houston!

Nice place but with a couple of issues

The house was very nice and comfortable. Our only issue was with the shower in the master bedroom. The water fluctuates between very hot and cold. We mentioned the problem to Sydney and he was aware of the issue. However, instead of fixing it he just said to turn it off and on, which did not help at all. As well, one of the windows in the master bedroom has no window covering which made it very difficult to sleep once the sun was out.

Family Vacation

We stayed here on a family trip to Houston to see all of the museums and the zoo. It was a great place to stay in a convenient location. Lots of great food options in the area as well. The sheets were soft and the home had everything we needed. The back patio was a nice spot to relax in the morning and evening.

Perfect retreat in a great location

Nice home

It’s a really nice property. The owner lives in the front of the home. He wasn’t particularly welcoming to me when I arrived, extremely jet lagged. The air fresheners are also very strong and you can hear the owner coughing/hacking in the night time.

Beautiful home and wonderful host

Thank you so much Sidney for the opportunity to stay at your lovely home! You are such a kind host and had a beautiful home with all the amenities for our Rice graduation celebration weekend. With ages 22-80 our family did really well. And thank you for your kindness in letting us have a late chrckout too!

VRBO Rental

The home was generally clean and we were provided with plenty of towels and toiletries. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to stay for the week. The owner who lives on-site in garage apartment was friendly. However, the home had many plug in air fresheners so there was a very strong air freshener smell even when we unplugged the air fresheners. If you are at all sensitive to fragrances this is not the house for you! Even after leaving the home all of our clothes and luggage needed to be washed or aired out to remove the fragrance smell. There was also critters living in the attic. We saw a possum daily on the fence or window sills of the home and a racoon on the last day. Not sure which is living inside the house but would hear it moving around at night. We told the owner and he was not concerned and even mentioned how other guests love the possum.

Beautiful Neighborhood

Came to Houston for Christmas to spend time with our son who attends Rice University. Easy walking distance to Rice University. Nice neighborhood. Wonderful cozy backyard. Many windows and light. Well stocked kitchen. We had a wonderful Christmas. Thank You!

Peaceful location conveniently located

We came to Houston for a medical procedure. I was accompanied by my husband, sister, and adult daughter. We had enough space to spread out and be comfortable, but also come together and make some meals. The home is well equipped for cooking but close enough to restaurants for eating out. We enjoyed watching movies, relaxing, and sitting outside in the backyard area. The host has constructed a beautiful plant wall like I’ve never seen before. Perfect for quiet meditation moments.

Appearances can be deceptive

We had lived and worked in the neighborhood for many years so accepted the substantial owner's fee as necessary for a nice house in a good location. Our actual experience was very disappointing. Ease of access to the one off-street parking space was made difficult by an apparently underivable car permanently parked, hood up, and loaded with junk occupying much of the narrow driveway. The access gate with key-pad appeared ordinary but the actual locking mechanism was unnecessarily complex. Pictures and initial impression of the interior were of a nicely designed and decorated house, but when we actually made use of the facilities we encountered a repetition of unnecessary complexity and/or poor quality. Examples are: a large pile of blankets and linens heaped upon the sofa on the upstairs landing-not in our way but why were they there? Digital thermostats with no instructions how to operate that had been left in system-off mode despite our scheduled arrival and a cold winter storm. There was also a very nice TV that looked great hanging on the wall, but try to figure out how to access desired programing without instructions and once figured out proved to be the cheapest selection of programing we had ever encountered. There were multiple types and locations of lights and switches, inside and out with dimmers and instruction about what we were expected to do but not how to do it. While we have encountered examples of these challenges previously, it was never all at once.

The pictures don’t do it justice

First visit to Houston for Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour. This location can not be beat! Beautiful and quiet neighborhood. I would book again!

Great Stay in Houston

Our stay here for ~10 days with my wife, her mother and our 20 month old son was perfect. The place was excellent for our needs and exactly as shown in the pictures. The small backyard was beautiful and tranquil & the neighborhood was extremely walkable with lots of small parks close by for our son to play. The owner was extremely personable and helpful, providing us with information of the area. Put this rental on your short list of places to stay while in Houston.

Excellent rental

This is the second time we stayed in this property, excellent as always, very nice, clean and quiet neighborhood, close to supermarkets, shops and restaurants. The house is well kept, with all the possible amenities you can think off, beautiful garden, including the vertical garden!!! Will definitely return to this place when we go back to Houston.

Restful weekend stay

The house was clean and organized. It had lots of space and the neighborhood was safe. It was located near lots of restaurants and points of interests including 10 minutes for NRG stadium and the zoo.
