We really enjoyed our stayed in Hickory North Carolina. Everything was really perfect except for the weather, but there was nothing in our host could do about that. We hope to return to North Carolina sometime in the next couple years will be sure to stay there again.

Hickory stay

We have family that live on Lake Hickory and this was a very convenient place to stay, to go back and forth to the lake. Dog friendly and easy to walk the dogs on the dead end street. Enjoyed our stay here and will be back again.

We enjoyed every moment at our get away in Hickory. When we arrived the place was spotless and exactly as pictured. The pool and landscaping was beautiful! We enjoyed the huge pool every day of our visit and enjoyed watching the deer and a few gophers playing in the nearby yard from the covered porch of the rental. The provided grill was perfect for the dinners that we made and the provided k-cups for the coffee maker were truly appreciated when I woke up and realized I forgot to bring ours. Any kitchen utensils we could need were provided, along with extra bedding and a very comfortable cot that our son chose to sleep on while his sister used the pull out couch. You can tell the whole place is taken care of with a lot of attention to detail. The owners are so very friendly, and their welcome digital brochure is a fantastic help to find things to do! Overall we really loved our stay and have already talked about a return visit!

North Carolina vacation

What an amazing property! My wife and I enjoyed everything from the comfort of inside to the amazing backyard view and pool. It’s located in a quite dead end road with pure privacy! Thank you for such an amazing time!

The property is beautiful and so relaxing. So close to everything yet all you hear is peace and quiet. The host of the property made you feel right at home and was right there if any issues were to arise. I will definitely be going back to enjoy the property, pool, & hospitality. Great place

The best host!! Very quick to respond to any questions or requests. Beautifully renovated unit in a quiet and peaceful area near Lake Hickory. Plenty of space for two couples inside. Loved all of the common areas inside and out. The pool was so refreshing and relaxing. A beautiful place!! We had the best time. Would definitely rent again in the future!!

Quiet & Relaxing!

We had a wonderful stay here! The host was super nice & friendly. She even gave us delish tomatoes from a garden! The pool is amazing and the scenery is just beautiful. Very nicely decorated and cozy. Loved the back patio and firepit. Also the community room was great. Only drawback is you can't control the temperature so it was a bit cold. But I would highly recommend this charming place!

The VRBO is just as listed. Charlene was amazing and had the unit available way before noon for us. The small kitchenette had everything we needed along with two small refrigerators. The backyard was beautiful with multiple sitting areas and a nice grass area for the dogs to run around. Charlene was beyond accommodating and really made us feel like family. We had a dog emergency when we were there and she was very empathetic and offered to watch our other dog while we took our other one to the vet hospital. The house is in a great location. We were close to downtown, could walk to a bar and restaurant and had groceries and everything you would need close by. One day we drove to Blowing Rock and had a beautiful day there as well. If I could give it above five stars I would; we will definitely be back.

The listing gives the impression that you are renting an entire private house or cabin with multiple beds, a full kitchen, an oven, and plenty of privacy. What we actually received was closer to a hotel-sized room located in someone’s basement.There was only one regular bed. To be fair, there were two cots stored in a closet, and the couch and chair could also be used for sleeping. However, that is very different from what most guests would expect when a listing suggests multiple beds in a private cabin or house.The kitchen was so small that only one person could stand in it at a time, and there was no practical way to cook a meal. The toaster oven repeatedly tripped the fuse. The Keurig still had a used pod inside, and the Wi-Fi was either unusable or unavailable, with no clear instructions provided.We did have access to a pool, and we were the only guests using it, which was nice. However, there was a crawdad walking around on the bottom that we had to remove before getting in.The biggest issue was not simply the size of the space; it was that the listing did not clearly communicate that we would be staying in a basement room beneath someone else’s home rather than renting a full, private cabin or house. Had that been clearly disclosed, we could have made an informed decision before booking.

We do want to clarify that the listing describes a one-bedroom space with a kitchenette and notes that the owner lives on-site, and we've asked for updates to make the sleeping capacity even clearer going forward. The kitchenette is compact by design, and WiFi is dedicated to that space, though we understand it didn't work smoothly for you during your stay. We take cleanliness seriously and regret that a used coffee pod was left behind, that has been addressed. The pool is outdoors and cleaned daily, though occasional wildlife can find its way in between cleanings. We appreciate the detailed feedback, as it helps us continue improving the experience for future guests.
