There were rodent droppings in the silverware drawer in the kitchen, and an exposed electrical socket in the Master bedroom which had another unit’s “lanai” (dinky screened entry room) right outside the master bedroom window. This rental also featured a tired and dated bathroom (with a duct-taped hole in the bath tub wall), loud noises from the two other units in the rental, and a parking lot/apartment buildings view from the tired kitchen...not quite what I had expected for the money nor from the photos or reviews!
I was so sorry I had picked this rental for my getaway and just glad I didn’t get sick from the rodent droppings! I should have stayed at one of the charming hotels on Sanibel or Captiva instead, which are also close to or actually on the beach.
To be fair, the owner did email before arrival that the bathroom shower wall was duct-taped, but how long had it been like this? Between the rusty tub, the mold on the tile grout and the duct tape hole repair, I didn’t even want to take a bath—just got in and out of the shower as quickly as possible.
When I informed the owner of my “issues”, she didn’t even apologize, and got defensive and made it seem like I was at fault and she was only upset I was tarnishing her rental reputation. I reread the description and nowhere does it say the rental is a triplex—I had expected a quiet house.
The quality is not there for your money—please consider other options for your stay on Sanibel before renting this “lanai” unit in this noisy triplex.
