Wow gorgeous hilltop retreat

Arrived after a week at Tamarindo beach with wife and three kids. First impression: the driveway -- very steep. Took a little getting used to. House is tended by a young couple, Mario and Pastore, who live in a house at the bottom of the drive. They are both very sweet people and responsive. Owner lives in Europe. The house is FABULOUS. Very innovative and creative design and furnishings. Totally loved the place. One of the few places in Costa Rica we would go back to. Outdoor living room under green roof. Wonderful pool for splashing; kids had a great time. Two moderately sized bedrooms sleeping two and three with semi-outdoor showers. Kitchen enclosed by two sets of glass sliding doors. Nice place to cook or eat. Nice appliances. Laundry room. Everything seemed pretty new and worked. Wifi was not working when we arrived, but they updated the subscription and then was great. House is one of the first in an area slated for upscale development, served by rural dirt roads, but very close to Villareal, a small town near to Tamarindo. Perched on top of a hill. Tremendous partial sea views, mostly of valley, sunsets, loads of great bird watching. We saw hummingbirds, doves, flycatchers, many more. Great place to relax and do nothing. Also reasonably accessible to local attractions and services, if you feel the need to leave, which mostly we did not.

Wonderful place to get away from it all.

Stayed 9 nights and really enjoyed our time here. Location is a bit remote but close enough to some great restaurants in Villarreal and 15 minutes to Tamarindo. The pool is much larger than shown in the pictures and was a pleasant surprise. Pastora and Mario were absolutely amazing and made sure our time here was perfect.

Escape from reality

Getting here is quite difficult and you will definitely need an all wheel drive vehicle for this property, but it is so worth it! We were greeted by the lovely Pastora who was AMAZING and she is definitely the reason we're giving this place 5 stars. She gave us the tour, was extremely helpful with any questions we had and her breakfast was phenomenal. As for the place itself, the pictures don't do it justice whatsoever. Everything from the pool, kitchen, balconies, and even the bathrooms were incredible with astonishing views. Literally everywhere you look is just beautiful! As for our complaints, we were told there was going to be construction and one of the roads would be closed so we were prepared for that, however we had an already paid for excursion one morning and we couldn't leave the property due to EVERY entrance/exit being blocked from construction. We were forced to miss our nonrefundable excursion and were stuck waiting for somebody to clear up one of the pathways. We ended up texting Pastora asking if there was anything we could do, and not only did she find a solution for us but she walked to every pathway going out of her way to look for us and help guide us, she was truly an angel! That was really the only con to our stay here, everything else was amazing. There's even a French spa/restaurant down the hill that we wish we had gone to sooner because it was incredible and super close to us! Overall we couldn't be happier with where we decided to celebrate our anniversary, it was truly a magical experience.

Loved this house!

Amazing views and gorgeous house! Our vacation was so relaxing and comfortable. The pool was so beautiful and from every angle on the deck, we were able to enjoy incredible sunsets every night. Pastora was the icing on the cake bringing us fresh orange juice and fruit every morning. Thank you for our wonderful family memories!

Amazing place!

This villa is perfectly located to explore the coast. It is cozy, really clean and has nice add-ons (games, barbecue, freezer, dish-washer, AC, subbed, hammock...). The view is superb! And what can we say about that infinity pool, just wow! But most of all, the people who take take of the place, Pastora and her husband Mario, are beyond nice. They were helpful and friendly. Thank you for our amazing stay.
