Koolkondo is proud to present to you The Compound: a unique private estate experience in Kauai, Hawaii. This stunning property has four separate vacation rental homes located on a generous lot. Perfect for large groups, the lot features a private yard and a private pool used only by guests at the compound! Our prime location, this popular bungalow compound is less than 150 feet from Brennecke’s Beach in the heart of sunny Poipu. Popular among visitors of Hawaii, our beach house complex is perfect for large families and makes a great place for a family reunion. Our gorgeous Kauai estate consists of a large main house called The Ohana: an original plantation home with 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, along with three 2 bedroom, 1 bath bungalows – all situated on the same property, right by the beach. The Ohana House is roughly 2,500 sq. feet and the other three bungalows are roughly 1,000 sq. feet each. The entire private estate can sleep up to 28 people. This beautifully landscaped piece of paradise is vacation ready! Lounge by the pool, fire up the grill, and relax with your family and friends in this private tropical paradise. Take in the sparkling ocean views and in less than a minute, you can be snorkeling, swimming, or boogie boarding on Brennecke’s Beach – one of the best on the South Shore. Come kick off your sandals and enjoy the many splendors of our incredible island. Let us provide you with the perfect place to create memories that will last a lifetime! Air Conditioning: Hawaii is known for its trade winds. Many homes on Kauai, including this vacation rental home complex, have been designed for "open airflow" using screened windows and screened sliding doors. Therefore, they DO NOT have air conditioning. Depending on the season, or even the day, temperatures typically range between 74 to 84 for the highs, and 60 to 74 for the lows, year-round. Refunds or discounts ARE NOT given for lack of Air Conditioning in a property. To rent individual units in this compound, please visit the corresponding property page: Ohana House - 5 bedrooms/4 bathrooms, 2200 sq. ft. Hula Bungalow - 2 bedrooms/1 bathroom, 1000 sq. ft. We have stayed at this property a couple times and it never disappoints! The pool was perfect - well-maintained, and great for relaxing after a day at the beach. The houses had everything we needed, comfortable beds, kitchen supplies, beach gear. You can’t beat the location with just a short walk to the beach and some of the best shave ice around. We’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend!

Fabulous week for our group of 14!Location great for beach access and sea turtle viewing. Very attentive support staff. Each of the four houses were well set up to meet occupants’ needs.

Excellent

This property was a perfect choice for our multi-generational family and friend's vacation. The property was just far enough away from the main road that we didn't hear car or foot traffic, but close enough to the beach to hear the waves all night long. The host was very responsive to any issues we had. Would love to come back and would highly recommend.

Best location

Koolkondo was a great place to stay with our party of 17…adults, teens and children. We enjoyed the beach, pool and lanai where we gathered for meals. It was perfect for our 50th anniversary celebration. Thank you Koolkondo!

Amazing

We rented the entire compound for a multi-generational vacation over the holidays. It was amazing - we had room for all 18 of us and were able to spread out in the compound. It was ideal for a big group, very short walk to the beach, and the property manager Corey was great communicating with us and making sure we had everything we needed.

Family fun

Great vacation. We rented the whole compound for our family of 24. We were celebrating 50 years of marriage. This place was perfect. It gave time together in the main house and some privacy in the bungalows. We liked being so close to the beach and appreciated the wagons and all the things to fill those wagons as we went to the beach

Large family vacation

Perfect place for our large family. Total of 19 people, including 7 grandchildren. Our 4 adult children had a place for each of their respective families. The private pool and the big lawn was great for everyone. Two very nice beaches are in easy walking distance. Easy parking. Corey who manages the property was easily accessible and very helpful. Everyone would like to come back again.

Amazing Compound

This place is crazy amazing. So close to the beaches. The houses were fully stocked with everything you could need including wagons to bring it all to the beach. Corey was a great host and easy to talk to. Zero issues. We want to come back next year.

Poipu Getaway

This property is truly incredible. Immaculately clean. Proximity to the beach is so good, it’s about a 1 minute walk gorgeous walk. The property is absolutely stunning, all 4 homes so beautiful and spacious. Corey and team were so amazing, they were fast to respond, very communicative and so helpful and accommodating to our large group. We had the most beautiful time as a family here, we dream of being back soon. This is THE place to stay on the island! Mahalo

Family Reunion

There was 16 of us for a family reunion, ages 13-85. We rented the entire compound so we had tons of room. This place was absolutely perfect both the amenities and the location. The homes were all beautiful and had all the comforts of home. Plenty of beach stuff so everyone had either needed. The location was one house away from the beach, and we saw tons of turtles, seals and beautiful fish!! We will definitely be back!!!

September 2024 Wedding Party

I can not say enough good things about this property. We stayed here with our family and our daughter's wedding party(28 people total). That seems like a lot but it did not feel crowded at all. The place is much cleaner, larger and more updated than shown in the pictures. The location is amazing. It felt like our own little world but the beach is only a block away as well as several restaurants and other amenities. Although we really didn't need anything else. Everything was included with the property. The property managers were wonderful and available to help immediately with all of our questions. We loved our stay here and would 100% recommend to everyone.

Kauai Disappointment

COULD NOT RECOMMEND this rental property to anyone. During a nine day stay, the property manager did not demonstrate any sense of urgency to correct or repair the many property discrepancies identified. A tub faucet blew out of the wall during a shower and struck my family member in the leg, the Ohana washer badly stained clothing from a nasty seal with mildew and rust, pool lounges were unsafe with broken legs and punctured fabric, and the VRBO pictures supporting the property indicated beach masks, snorkles and boogie boards (UNTRUE). Previous renters had left some low quality beach equipment for use. Potential for a high quality rental in a prime location exists if property were maintained and managed!!!!!

Great house!

Our stay at “The Compound” was great! We had a small reception at the property in the lawn for our guests and it was perfect. With only a few reviews around I was a little nervous but the property far exceeded my expectations. Each house was fully stocked from the kitchens to the beach toys; there were tons of boogie boards, snorkels, coolers, etc. The management company was extremely responsive to any questions or requests we had and made the stay very easy. I highly recommend staying here!

Absolutely perfect place for a family reunion

Our party of 18 adults and three small children (2 years, 6m and 4m) rented the whole compound for our family reunion in January 2022. Normally I check reviews before booking any rentals, but we decided to take a chance with this place despite it being a newer listing with no reviews. I am so glad that we did. Corey was in communication with me in the days before we arrived and was always available to answer questions. He met us at the compound when we arrived and showed us around and told us where to find everything (snorkel gear, bikes, pool toys, yard games, etc). He gave some great recommendations for places to eat and to make sure to not miss the sea turtles that come up to sleep on the beach every evening (this is definitely something you don't want to miss!). The houses were all very clean and updated. The kitchens were stocked with all the cooking tools we needed, and we loved having the Ninja blender to make frozen drinks. There are AC units in the main living areas, but we never really needed them. Even though it was in the 80s, we opened the windows and the cross breeze kept everything really comfortable, especially at night to sleep. The fans in the bedrooms were more than enough. All the bathrooms were stocked with shampoo and conditioner, so no need to bring your own. There is an outdoor shower (also stocked) that we loved using. There is really something about taking a hot shower under a sky full of stars after a day at the beach. The property itself is beautiful. It's fenced in with a nice size courtyard and everything is perfectly maintained. The string lights were a really nice touch. The pool was clean and refreshing. There are 2 gas grills and plenty of outside seating. There was also enough parking for the 5 or 6 cars we had rented. The property is an easy, two minute walk to two main beaches. One has bigger waves (I believe that was Brennecke's Beach) right at the end of the road which is where we did a lot of boogie-boarding, and then right next to that is Poipu Beach Park, which has a playground and a calm shore that is ideal for kids and snorkeling. Poipu Beach Park is also where you'll see the sea turtles come up on to the beach in the evening, around 5-6pm every night. Overall, this is a really beautiful, comfortable property in a great, safe location. We couldn't be happier with our choice to stay here. Big thanks again to Corey for being so helpful and responsive. We already can't wait to come back!
