As a former Vrbo property manager of 3+ years with all 5 star reviews, I’d like to give this place a thorough review for everyone’s benefit.
Pros-
-St James Plantation is a gorgeous place. Getting in and out of this gated community was a breeze. My kids enjoyed the playground, and the drive to the beach club wasn’t bad at all. The beach club itself was a nice amenity- easy to find, easy to park, and super clean restrooms!
-The condo itself was easy to find. Quiet, the person renting the lockout didn’t disturb us at all. The full kitchen and dining space was great for cooking for my family every day. Having a washer and dryer was a huge plus.
-The hosts were very helpful and answered my questions in a timely fashion. Chuck made sure we knew how to get into the condo and checked on us via text. Very helpful!
Cons-
-The management company, Evolve, took weeks to respond to my questions, citing their “busy season” as the reason. I would have preferred to skip this sad excuse and communicate directly with the owner instead.
-The kitchen lacked some basics- no sugar provided with the coffee items. No dishwasher detergent provided, nor was it ever said I needed to bring my own. Very few dishes, none of which were kid friendly. The pots and pans were either gigantic or tiny. And the hot pad was about 4 square inches, almost too small to use without getting burnt. Obviously I’m being hyper critical! But these are things that could have been thought of.
-The beds. The mattress on the pullout side was so old and worn out, you could feel every spring inside it. The king mattress was only a little better but super bouncy, uneven, and extremely uncomfortable.
-The dining chairs were all broken in some manner, making it very challenging to use them.
All that being said- it really was a great little condo and a great value. I’d probably rent it again and just bring my own floor mattresses to get some sleep!
