We arrived at the end of March in cold, rainy weather. It was difficult to get the stone trullo warmed up and dried out as moisture condensed on the cold walls. The power system allowed only for one small electrical heater, the ventless heaters gave off moisture from combustion and the wood stove was unreliable and we ended up using it only twice—for us, it was essentially not usable. So, off to a bit rocky start. Then the sun came out, the weather warmed and the fruit trees blossomed! The caretakers were very pleasant and helpful. We opened everything up and got things warmed up and dried out. The rest of the month of April was lovely. The pool was beautiful but brisk and the surrounding countryside was spectacular! The location was perfect for exploring Puglia. Small towns, each about 20km apart, and only 50km to the coasts on the Adriatic and the Ionian seas. Fantastic restaurants and lovely old Italian villages with friendly people. A very nice grocery store not far in Martina Franca had everything we needed and was very convenient. The master bedroom was equipped with a very nice heat pump that worked beautifully so we were warm and comfortable every night. Lots of books, reasonable WiFi and a small but very functional kitchen—we baked our own bread, made our own pasta, at lots of local veggies and drank pleanty of excellent local wines! All in all a wonderful visit to a lovely area of Italy. We had a spectacular time that will not be forgotten!
