Charmig Getaway på Superior, mellan Lutsen och Grand Marais

WoodSong Cabin ligger på både kanten av Lake Superior och kanten av den öppna skogen i Cascade River State Park. Helt ombyggd 2016, denna hantverkare skapade stuga skonades ingen kostnad i sin uppmärksamhet på detaljer. Från den övergripande designen, ner till det handsmidesa järnarbetet, gavs omsorgsfull omsorg till varje kvadratmeter. Resultatet är något mer besläktat med en tillverkad treskulptur än en ren bostad.

WoodSong ligger vid stranden av Lake Superiors robusta kustlinje, precis i slutet av Cascade Beach Road, och ligger nästan exakt mellan Lutsen och Grand Marais - lätt 10 minuters körning i båda riktningarna. Ett rymligt huvudrum är byggt runt den granitvända, vedeldade eldstaden - med fransk dörr som öppnar direkt ut mot sjön. Var och en av dess två sovrum har sitt eget, privata spa-liknande bad, komplett med djupt badkar. Med användning av den lyxiga bäddsoffan i huvudrummet kan denna stuga bekvämt rymma 6.

Utanför är charmen i full kraft ... WoodSong-uteplatsen ligger inte bara ett stenkast från Lake Superiors som hoppar vågor, utan har en verandad täckt sjö. Återupprepade från ett originalt, historiskt North Shore Fish House - ett av få som fortfarande står kvar från den förflutna eran - tid med kaffe, vin och vänner i WoodSong Fish House är ungefär så nära North Shore-extas som det blir!

Our two week stay in Lutsen at this amazing property was absolutely wonderful. The accommodations were perfect—comfortable, spotless, and thoughtfully designed. The Lake Superior views from every single window were breathtaking, making it hard to decide which direction to look first! From sunrise to sunset, the scenery never disappointed.Even with a few rainy days everything about the property exceeded our expectations and made for a relaxing, memorable trip. I loved Plein air painting literally within feet of the property! Close to Grand Marais and so many other favorite locations. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended—we can’t wait to return!

We Didn’t Want to Leave!

This property is second to none! I call it “Lux Rustic!” It definitely has that Up North Cabin vibe, but with a luxury twist. Very cozy, clean and comfortable.My husband and I stayed for our 40th anniversary celebration and it did not disappoint. Highlights were connecting with nature and each other . During our 4-night stay we didn’t see another human unless we left the property. The Lake Superior shoreline was ours to enjoy; we felt like the only people on the planet. We spent a lot of time in the fish house and exploring the shoreline. The water is so majestic and healing. We absolutely did not want to leave.As far as the cabin goes, it had every amenity imaginable. Plenty of glassware, cookware, fridge and freezer space for the two of us. We enjoyed a fire in the fireplace each evening and I soaked and relaxed every night in the huge bathtub.The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was set up very efficiently and feels roomy.We had a couple of questions and the host responded right away with tips and offers to assist.It was incredible and we plan on returning as soon as we can.

It had us at HELLO at the door…. Such a wonderful, calm, beautiful cabin to stay at. It was a 5 Star in our eyes.

Beautiful sunrise views over the water

Great cabin for a trip with a mixed itinerary of getting outside during the day and nesting in at night. You can see the majority of the shoreline within an hour in either direction. Went upshore to Grand Portage and downshore to Silver Bay and caught lots of great hikes along the way. Then returned at night to cook and grill some amazing dinners in a perfectly appointed kitchen. Bonus to have a great Weber grill right there, too.

Beautiful Craftsman Cabin on the Lake

This 2bd/2bath home is beautifully appointed and concise in its design. Location could not be better. Seconds to the Cascade Restaurant and Bar, minutes into Grand Marais, minutes to Lutsen and Superior National Golf Course. Lovely outdoor fire pit with Adirondack chairs. Any negatives? No washer and dryer. Bring extra undies! Otherwise this place is perfect!!

This cabin ticks all the boxes for us to spend a week enjoying all the North Shore has to offer. The boat house is such a treat to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning and the cabin is clean with comfortable beds and a cozy sitting area with a fireplace.

Absolute tranquility

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and it was just what we needed. Only two places we go to every year seems like home away from home. One is the Island Inn Sanibel Island and the other is Woodsong in Lutsen. This will be a yearly vacation for us now. We were even lucky enough to get a Northern Lights show on Friday night. Every thing about the cabin is perfection and beautifully maintained and appointed. You absolutely can not beat the location only 20 minutes from Grand Marais and little locations to eat all around.

The best cabin on the North Shore

This cabin could not be nicer. Well appointed, cozy, and right on the water. We enjoyed hiking, jigsaw puzzles, and a campfire on a perfect evening. Lovely!

Wonderful Windsong

Everything about our stay was perfect! Windsong provided all the comforts of home with the vacation feel! From the lakeside lounging in the historic fish house to the giant bathtubs for evening soaking…we loved it! Was perfectly located for our day trips to hike Pigeon River at The Grand Portage, to hike up Lutsen to take in the breathtaking fall views! We left relaxed, renewed and revitalized!

This cabin is simply lovely. It has been recently meticulously remodeled. The location is fantastic - super close to cascade river state park. And the fishhouse / porch by the lake - amazing! I can’t wait to go back.

Awesome Getaway

Perfect space for our family and had all we needed. Location was great for a quick hike in the state park, but the best part was spending hours exploring rocks on the shore. The fish house was one of our favorite spots and it was so relaxing to listen to the waves wash on shore. It was hard to leave!

Great Place for a Rest

Lovely cabin and we’ll designed/appointed. Owners/managers are very attentive to your needs. The fish house was great place for morning coffee and being lulled by the waves. I stayed almost 2 weeks here. Only downsides are the traffic noise, Canadian Geese in the yard and flies. Welcome to the North Shore.

North Shore Retreat

Beautiful place on the North Shore, right on the water. Very quiet and peaceful! Great location between Grand Marais and Lutsen, near great hiking. Loved the deep tub and beautiful freshly picked lupines. Cozy fireplace and living room! Well cared for!

With both of us native to Kansas, we made our first foray to the Northwoods in 1994, shortly after being newly married. Little did we know that that initial five-night paddling trip, launched from the end of the Gunflint Trail outside of Grand Marais, would lead to a lifetime of pursuing the Northwoods and everything it represents. We now own and operate a Tallgrass Prairie Preserve in the Flint Hills of Kansas, and we love the gentle beauty of the prairie — a sublime beauty that soaks slowly into your soul rather than a dramatic beauty that hits you upside the head.

We find the Northwoods to be similar in that regard. Whether the quiet lapping of waves against a rock shore, the distant haunting call of a loon, the silent rise of a full moon over Lake Superior, or the crackle of a wood fire on a frigid snowy night, we find the essence of the Northwoods invigorates our hearts and spirits like nowhere else. We can't think of anything more fulfilling than sharing our little piece of the North with guests in the hope that it will be as life-giving to them as it is to us. Welcome to WoodSong!
