House is located in a safe and quiet neighborhood. It is conveniently located to the airport, dining, shopping, sports complex, and city attractions. Thanks, it was a great option for our family trip.

Great place to stay

My family and I came to SD for a quick getaway to visit the beach. The house was very cute, great location to get to different parts of SD quickly. There’s a grocery store very close by, and is in a fairly quiet location. Communication was awesome, and the host even dropped some beach equipment for us to use during our stay. Overall a great place to stay!!

Hillcrest House

Compact house that feels private. We enjoyed the unique aspects of the house. The grandkids appreciated the backyard and front yard to play in. The house was easy to find and in a good location for the activities we wanted to do.

Fantastic!

We loved the house. Very spacious and comfortable. We planned the trip to celebrate my mother completing cancer treatments and she was so content here that she almost didn't want to leave 😊 Greg was great and very helpful. Will definitely be planning another stay soon.

Fun in the sun

I love the property was literally close to everything you could walk to the grocery store that really helps in a city like San Diego with limited parking. It was probably 10 to 15 minutes anywhere we wanted to go. The house was very functional and clean.

One of the best VRBO stays ever!

I was on a work trip with two work friends. Hillcrest is a great neighborhood and the house is in a perfect location to walk to awesome coffee shops, restaurants, and other local shops. The house has a spacious interior and the back patio was perfect for morning coffee while I did some work on my computer. The interor office space is wonderful as well. The host, Greg, was very quick with communication, checked in with me after the first day, and even offered to get us checked in early and a late checkout if needed. Who does that?? It was such a pleasant suprise and just a wonderful touch. 10/10 I will stay again when I'm in SD and you should too!!

Great location, but unfortunately cleanliness issues

The location was fantastic, within walking distance of a grocery store and delicious restaurants. The owner was also very responsive and offered wonderful local recommendations, which we appreciated. One highlight of the property was the good back patio space, perfect for relaxing outdoors. However, there were several small inconveniences throughout our stay. The showers were tiny, which meant that the shower curtain touches you while showering, which isn’t ideal as it wasn’t clean. The house is nearing its 100 year old birthday which is a fun fact, but it does mean that it has a bit of a musty smell and the rooms lacked sufficient outlets or any USB options, which made charging devices a bit challenging. Furthermore, there was no dishwasher, and the sponge provided for dishwashing wasn't new or clean. There were some other cleanliness issues as well - the sheets had some stains and didn't appear to be thoroughly cleaned (small hairs were on the sheets near the foot of the bed). Additionally, there were some allergens in the house that affected my allergies. I'm not sure if it was due to dust or if a prior pet had lived there, but it was significant enough for me to have to seek medical attention and obtain an inhaler prescription. Overall, while the location and responsiveness of the owner were positives, the cleanliness was lacking and potential allergens in the house may be a concern for guests with allergies.

A Lovely Craftsman

5 adults and a 5-year-old spent 4 nights at Greg and Jenn’s house. The home still has the character original to the house. It’s super charming!Greg was great in responding to us when we had trouble with the lockbox. He came right over and fixed it. He also checked in with us via text several times just to make sure we were comfortable.One of the best things about the house is its location. It’s close to EVERYTHING downtown. Just about everywhere we went was less than 15 minutes away.I highly recommend staying in Greg and Jenn’s house. We were all very happy being there together!!

San Diego Girls Trip

Deployment Homecoming

My husband and I and my elderly parents were visiting San Diego for my son’s deployment Homecoming. Everything was absolutely perfect and we enjoyed our stay so much. I hope to come back and stay again as this house was just ideal. The host was amazing and very responsive.

Fun stay in SD

This is a great location to stay with family or friends. The bedrooms are spacious and the common areas are great for sharing a meal or hanging out and watching tv together. The neighborhood is super cute and there’s so much to do nearby - you walk up the street and there’s a Von’s grocery and a Lazy Acres. I highly recommend this location for anyone looking for a small home away from home! Note - if you’re traveling w an infant or small children, the second bathroom is inside the master bedroom and it’s quite small. It’s usable and fine, but definitely hard to navigate w a child or anyone tall 😝

Great location,,reasonable price,,,accessible to everything in San Diego

Definitely an older home but remodeled to accommodate our family. Awesome porch! Very small bathroom in one of the bedrooms, but we felt it was adequate. Good communication with the manager who seemed nice and wanting to please the customer and that's important.

Great home for family while loved one in the hospital at UCSD Hillcrest

Our family of 3 senior citizens and an 18 year old spent 10 days at this wonderful VRBO while one of us was in the UCSD Medical Center. It was an easy 15 minute walk to the hospital and just a few minutes to walk to Vons', plus a great Natural Foods store also. The house does not have AC or a dishwasher but we were totally comfortable and able to relax during a stressful time. I would rent it again in a heartbeat. Thanks, Greg, for being so available.

No complaints

Great house near the San Diego zoo and other attractions. I was traveling with my very young children (2 and 9 months) and appreciated that there was a travel crib and selection of toys available. The side yard was fenced and a perfect play area for them. The entire place was clean, well-stocked, and I have no complaints.

We had 6 women staying at the house while attending a conference at the convention center. It is very clean and charming. Great restaurants close by. We really liked the large dining table which is where we usually ended up visiting.

Family Thanksgiving Week Trip

My youngest daughter had her first child in September in San Diego. A bit young for a cross country trip back East for Thanksgiving, so we brought her older sister’s two children (6 & 9) to meet their new cousin. Their Mom could not go.. House has enough space and a yard to play in too. Walking distance to the grocery store and secverak places to eat made the location very convenient. Also close to the Zoo and Balbia Park and both Hillcrest and the the North Oatk neighborhood.

Group stay for a conference in San Diego

This was a great place to stay for a group of graduate students visiting San Diego to attend a conference and go sight-seeing! The house is in a quiet neighborhood located centrally to many of the places we wanted to see. It's also a short walk away from a grocery store and nearby restaurants. The house was equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The second bathroom is quite small, but this wasn't a huge issue. We enjoyed the patio in the backyard and the extremely comfortable beds. Greg was a very responsive and accommodating host. Would definitely recommend!

Visit for MCRD Graduation

This was a wonderful place to stay for our son's graduation from Marine Boot Camp at MCRD! Our first visit to San Diego, and it was a perfect location. We were about 10 minutes or less to everywhere. Extremely convenient to MCRD, Old Town and so many other places to visit. The house was perfect for us! Nice, quiet neighborhood, walking distance to many restaurants. A very nice grocery within walking distance also had a parking garage. Safe location in nice area. Beds were very comfortable! Nice gathering space, great little kitchen, and the backyard patio was great. Host was very helpful and even loaned us a cooler and beach chairs! I would absolutely recommend staying here! It was perfect for our stay. Could not have been better for the MCRD Graduation and visiting local attractions.
