SunDestin 1808 is a penthouse, Gulf front, 1BR/1BA condo in the heart of Destin. This beautiful, newly updated condo with washer/dryer in unit has floor to ceiling Gulf views and a spacious balcony. 2021 updates include new flooring, new décor throughout, new bedroom furnishings including mattress, new sleeper sofa, and fully remodeled kitchen and bath. The bedroom has a king bed and En suite bathroom with walk-in shower. The hallway has twin bunk beds the kids are sure to love, and the sofa converts to a queen-sized bed to comfortably sleep up to 6 guests. Great view; stayed during building renovations 2025

I and 2 separate visitors had a pleasant stay in this newly renovated condo. It has a nice view of the ocean, a logical layout and fast internet. There is not a convenient or comfortable place to work from, but sitting at the kitchen island and using a pillow with the chair worked well enough.RealJoy was responsive to any concerns and came out several times during my stay. Once because I let them know an outlet wasn't working (turned out I was unaware that just one plug in an outlet could be connected to a wall switch), to unclog the sink disposal, to attempt to fix the washer, to deliver extra towels (because we couldn't wash in hot water as the washer could not be fixed until after we left) and to deliver a hotspot when the internet went out, possibly due to high winds, which they allowed us to keep as a back up just in case for the duration of our stay.I would not choose to stay during the building renovations again, they said they discounted the price, but not enough (IMO) for what you had to endure - LOUD noise all around the unit (6 days a week, daytime only), caustic smells in the hallways and elevator, many things in a state of de/construction at once. No access to sauna, hot tubs and the indoor pool as not warm enough for me.There were 3 chairs on the deck that lead to the beach. It was one of my favorite things to do, sit in those chairs and view the beach/ocean. They were sturdy and relaxing, being able to put your feet up on the wood railing. Really miss that!

1808 Sundestin

I enjoyed my stay in Destin. The sun and sea did not disappoint. The condo was decent but was advertised as a penthouse- it is not. It is a condo on the top floor. A few concerns- there is a very loud air conditioner unit(?) beside the entry door on the outside wall of the bedroom. I only have 25% of my hearing and the unit is very loud when trying to sleep. Also, there is no real closet for the bedroom. Lastly, the sheets on the bed were not even tucked in.

Not bad, not the best.

We stayed for nearly two weeks most everything was good but the room is not very clean. From day one until the last day our baby crawled around and her legs and feet would be BLACK from crawling on the floor. It is not clean at all. The bathroom shower needs cleaned too. There’s black spots on the shower walls & the bottom of the shower door is also black. I wore sandals in the shower. The bathroom & bedroom also got very moist and it would leave the bedding and anything left in there feeling damp. The bed was comfortable & the kitchen was pretty clean. It is nice having the washer and dryer in the room but the couch in the living room is not very comfortable & regarding the shower head being low, which it is it’s not that big of a deal to just bend over but it definitely is low. The view is great but we stayed in a room a few down last year with the same view & the room was definitely nicer. We probably would not stay in this room again.

Ok for the money I expected a much nicer condo.

Property was dirty. Hallways need to have carpets cleaned they were filthy. Sorry to be negative but I expected much nicer.

Good place to stay

The condo was clean and nice and the view from the balcony is awesome. We spent almost as much time out on the balcony as we did on the beach. Tidy kitchen with all the equipment you need for cooking and eating. Laundry machines so you don't have to use the laundromat. Nice bathroom and shower. Overall a very pleasant place to be. I'd stay again.

No closet!

It was a great place, but I was disappointed that there was no closet. There is a portable wardrobe that was brought in. I believe they redid the bathroom at the cost of a closet. The condo did have a stacked washer and dryer, which was convenient and worked great. Overall great experience.

Perfect Vacation getaway

The property was just as described. The facility smelled so good when you walked thru the front door. Very clean. The only downfall was the pool was not open due to construction but was no problem.

Slept on floor

The view was very nice. However, bed was so soft hurt both of our backs. Both slept on the floor. There was a lot of construction taking place which hindered parking, use of pool etc.

Worst experience

Bathroom was not clean and couch had stains all over. Shower was remodeled for a very short person. Right sink in bathroom would not drain. I’m 5’4 and had to squat to get under the shower head. Ridiculous. The bed was horrible like a low rate hotel not a penthouse unit. I spent first four nights sleeping on bunk beds with daughter because it was so bad. Fan in master bedroom was not working. They finally came on second day and to fix it and duck taped the remote:( Second to last day the finally addressed the bed issue by getting a mattress topper which helped but then the smell of plastic from the topper permeated the room. They promised a very small refund which I haven’t seen yet which is disappointing and should have been more considering the horrible stay. I have never been so ready to go home which is sad because we have always enjoyed all other VRBO rentals prior to this one. I will end on a positive note that the view is spectacular but that is all!

Great view and stay

Everything was as advertised in the description. Check in was smooth. The view feom the balcony was beautiful. Management was very quick to respond to one little issue. The only thing I would pass along to future guests is that the shower head is really low. You cannot stand under it if you are taller than 5-2.

Amazing Beach View

Overall the best thing about this condo was the beach view. The air conditioning unit was so loud and made for many abrupt awakenings and restless nights. The bathroom door doesn't lock and the furniture in the living room was stained, had holes and was overall uncomfortable. Bird poo covered the poles to hold towels on the balcony so that was disappointing. The beach view from the balcony was absolutely breathtaking, you could see dolphins, boats everything. For the price I think the unit could definitely use some upgrades. A recliner or foot stool for the separate couch chair would be nice. I would stay at this condo again for the beach view. Like I said absolutely breathtaking.

Overall Good Value

For the price we paid, the room was decent. It needs paint touch ups and some slight upgrades, but overall it was worth it. Two main issues though- 1. The air conditioner unit is in the bedroom and is LOUD, which made for some restless nights. 2. The rental agreement does not mention that you aren’t allowed to use your own umbrella on the property’s beach. It is conveniently listed on the agreement you have to sign at the front desk upon check-in. I understand there was an accident that happened years ago that caused the property to implement the rule but it should be more upfront in the booking process. Customers should expect to pay an extra $30 a day just to be able to stay out of the sun, even with triple digit heat indexes.

Couple getaway

It was just my husband and I for a getaway of just the two of us. We appreciated the pool and quick access to the beach. The views were amazing and lots of nearby restaurant choices.

August vacation

Overall, the property was as expected. The property and condo were a little dated, but nothing terribly off putting. Great views and amenities. Everything you need is on site. The convenience store in the lobby was a great thing to have. My only complaint would be the noise from the AC unit when it kicks on. It was loud at night, but I got used to it. I would stay here again and would recommend to others.
