Weâve been vacationing in ME for 7 years, the last 4 in KPT. We love the townâs charm, unique restaurants/shops, and beautiful beaches. We travel with my parents, daughter (7), and Doodle. Every year we hope to find that home we want to return to each year, and we finally found that in Sharonâs home. It met each item on our wish list! It is CLEAN, bright, spacious layout, A/C, dog friendly, close to town & GRB, with outdoor space & BBQ. Many of the ME homes weâve stayed in were so buggy you could never stay outside for more than 2 min. That was not the case here; we relaxed outside with ease. We BBQed a few nights, picking up marinated steak and chicken from Bradburyâs Market (down the road). The house is set back enough to be quiet & private, and the driveway was nice and big for our cars, which helped with loading our kayaks. It was new for us to bring linens & towels this year, and while it required some extra packing/space, it wasnât that bad and worked out OK. We would happily do so again to stay in this home. Sharon was easy to reach if we had questions, as was the caretaker, Jerry. (Side note: If you love duck decoys, Jerry makes them and is SO talented. We bought a few from him on this trip and will treasure the ducks at the hands of his craftsmanship forever!)
Cape Porpoise is our fav place to rent as itâs halfway between Dock Square (5 min) and Goose Rocks Beach (10 min), our daily destinations. Down the road is Cape Porpoise Kitchen and Bradburyâs, where youâll find whatever food youâd need. The house has a Keurig, and all appliances were clean, new, and easy to use. Beds and pillows were comfortable with clean blankets provided, and the dĂ©cor was warm and inviting; the electric fireplace added a nice ambiance. While the weather was mild for us, we have been in ME in brutal heat and humidity, thus A/C is a must for us. The A/C in Sharonâs home worked GREAT & kept the house cool when used. More comforts provided were books, games (Uno, Scrabble, Monopoly, cornhole), & beach chairs/toys, which we appreciated.
Weâve been to KPT enough to know itâs always a great time, which is why we keep returning. Must do: Walkerâs Point, Cape Porpoise Pier, White Columns tour, ice cream @ Goose Rocks Dairy, watch surfers at Motherâs Beach, make candles at Sea Love, see Colony Hotel, lobster boat tour, Old Orchard rides, antiquing in Wells (see Americanaâs Workshop). Eat at Batson River, Pearl, Mabelâs, Nunanâs, Maine Diner, & Ryanâs Corner House.
