Family Visit

Great location for us. Well equipped and spacious. Had everything we needed. Comfortable bed and great views from the bedroom. Nice deck and patio to have coffee and enjoy the sunshine.

To sum it up: Great place, great location and great hosts! Don’t hesitate to book this rental in a lovely quiet neighborhood. It was immaculate and nicely appointed indoors. We spent time outside on the deck every day and were joined on several occasions by a deer and two fawns in the yard. We didn’t rent a car and had no issues getting ride shares as well as a grocery delivery. A big thank you to our hosts that were super communicative and left comprehensive notes on the rental and the local area. Highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for something close to San Fran but like a little more quiet and space than a hotel in the city.

wonderful, comfortable stay in small apt with water view

We loved our stay at this small, very comfortable apartment that has everything you could want-a peaceful, naturalistic setting on a hill with a view of the water, very clean and well appointed spaces with small kitchen, easy proximity to the city of San Francisco, and lots of great hiking trails nearby.

A Slice of Heaven

Bill and Terry have placed immense care and consideration into making their place an incredible stay for guests. The rooms are immaculate and cozy; we especially appreciated the well-furnished kitchen, as this made meals easy. (Having breakfast on the patio was the best way to start out mornings! The view is inspiring!) The thoughtfully curated binder of local places to try and sights to see was a cherry on top. You can absolutely feel the hosts’ love of their area, and we are so grateful they shared that with us! We couldn’t recommend it more highly!

I absolutely loved my stay here! The location is perfect — super close to downtown Mill Valley, Sausalito, Highway 1, and 101. There are also several great grocery stores and coffee shops just a few minutes away, which made everything really convenient.The view from the unit is incredible! On clear mornings, the sunrise was absolutely breathtaking — easily my favorite part of the stay. The deck, bedroom, and living room all share that same stunning view, and it was such a peaceful way to start (and end) each day.The host was wonderful — kind, responsive, and even helped carry our luggage up the stairs! I really appreciated all the thoughtful details and clear instructions provided in the unit, which made everything smooth and easy.The rental had all the essentials we needed, plus some unexpected touches like soft drinks and beer stocked in the fridge — so thoughtful and appreciated.One thing to note: there are quite a few stairs to reach the unit. As an active person, I actually enjoyed the extra exercise, but if stairs aren’t your thing, this might not be the best fit. If you don’t mind (or even enjoy) a little climb, I highly recommend this rental — it’s absolutely worth it for the views and overall experience!And I can't forget to mention that the homes located in the hills behind Mill Valley Library were sooooo cool to drive by and look at. It is a VERY narrow road and in many places only 1 car can fit in either direction but totally worth it!

Such a gem!

Bill and Terry were really friendly and thoughtful! They gave us many great recommendations regarding restaurants, day trips and public transportation. The accommodation had everything we needed and even more. There were so many spices in the kitchen, which were tasty, beach towels and even binoculars. We loved it! This lovely gem is located close enough to the city but without all the hustle. There are so many things to do in the Bay Area. If you are looking for a nice and quiet place to stay, this is the place to be! It’s just incredible! We recommend this this accommodation and we will definitely come back!

Beautiful gem in the hillside

We just stayed at this lovely duplex in Mill Valley. The place was so much better than staying at a hotel. We had a living area, galley kitchen, and bedroom with exquisite water views from one window and gorgeous nature views from the floor to ceiling sliding glass doors. Laundry was easily accessible in a room below our duplex. The property was exactly as described, and our host, Bill, graciously walked us thru and explained all we needed to know about it. I could hardly believe we were staying at a place so close to the city, given the tranquil location and family of deer we found wandering through the grounds one afternoon. This is a perfect location for those who want to explore San Francisco, as well as wine country as Muir Woods National Monument. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Perfect

Stayed here while visiting family and friends. The apartment was as described and better. Clean and well equipped with clear explanations for everything. Great communications with Bill. Beautiful living space inside and out with steps up to the apartment through lush landscaping. Everything was in great working order. Details such stocking of condiments, olive oil, etc down to the quality soft facial tissues were appreciated. Also, a great location. Don't miss the nearby Tennessee Valley Trail or Hook Fish Co. restaurant among many other attractions. Definitely would stay here again--next time with my wife.

Great location and view

This was a perfect location for working remotely while visiting the area. Wine country is less than an hour away. Muir Woods is a 15 minute drive over the hill. We took the bus/ferry to San Francisco and left our car at home. Oakland is about 30 minutes depending on traffic. Walkable to great coffee shops and restaurants. WiFi is fast and my wife and I both worked remotely with no issues. I worked on the balcony with a great view of the bay while deer foraged nearby. I saw a bobcat on my walk back from the coffee shop. Very peaceful setting. Owners are great. Highly recommended.

Simply Amazing!

If I could give more than five stars I would. The location to San Francisco is super convenient. It only took us 20 minutes to get to Pier 39 during morning traffic. The view from the bedroom window is worth every penny. The best part is that you can sleep with the curtains and see the start because there are no neighbors directly in front of the window to see in. The place was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook, and Bill even had coffee ready for us to make since we got in late. Super clean and very well kept. Bill was a fantastic host with great tips to steer you clear of the crowds. Definitely a place we are coming back to.

Perfect location!

We were pleased to arrive and find the five star reviews of this place are well deserved. A very clean, thoughtfully-equipped duplex in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to highway 1 and 101, you can quickly be heading in the direction to the popular sights. Muir Woods is just 15 minutes away!!! We really enjoyed the large window in the bedroom which provided a great view of the spectacular sunrises, and moon and stars as we fell asleep at night. It was lovely sleeping with the windows cracked listening to the tree frogs. We equally enjoyed sitting out on the awesome deck in the early evening as the sun ducked behind the mountains and night approached. Birders from other areas will appreciate easy access to some of the best birding hot spots in the nation during migration like Point Reyes. The back deck is even a birding hot spot! We added Townsend’s Warbler, Anna’s Hummingbird, Oak Titmouse, Chestnut-backed Chickadee, and Golden-crowned Sparrow the first two days just sitting on the deck before heading out for dinner! Loved the place, and will definitely stay here again our next visit to the area. Thanks for everything Bill!

Bill and Terry’s place was perfect for our trip. They were very thorough in ensuring the unit was clean and stocked. Check-in was simple and easy, and Bill walked us through the area, the unit, things to do, etc. The amenities included were perfect for our stay, the king sized bed was amazing, and the kitchen was perfect for our needs. If you’re on the fence about staying here, I would absolutely recommend it (if you’re able to walk up the stairs!). Thanks Bill and Terry!

Beautiful apartment, wonderful view, helpful host. Bill was a terrific host and the accomodations are meticulously maintained. Of special note were the extras in the kitchen: wide array of spices, sugar, and basic condiments, paper towels, and dish soap so you don't have to buy all such things for a breif stay. Some nice extra touches like bottled water (and a couple of beers!) in the fridge also made us feel welcomed. As advertised, the place is close to everything but secluded enough to have deer visit us in the early morning. If you're in the Mill Valley area, I highly recommend Bill's place.

So happy that we found Bill and Terry’s place! I’m often skeptical of reviews but in this case they were right on. It was super clean, very comfortable and well equipped for my husband and I. Quite and beautiful surroundings and a lovely view. Bill, greeted us upon arrival and helps with our luggage and was there again as we left lending a hand. Highly recommend this gem on your next visit to the San Francisco area!

Bill and Terry are very kind and gracious hosts! They were active communicators from the very beginning, even warning us about some potential construction noise a month out from our stay (which didn't end up disturbing us at all - the neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful). The unit was immaculately clean when we arrived and had lots of extras - more fresh towels, sheets, spices for cooking, cleaning supplies, info about local recycling guidelines and things to do - that other hosts wouldn't have included. The property is beautiful and feels very private. We would absolutely stay here again!

Gem in Mill Valley

This amazing place has everything you could want: wonderful location minutes to both the trails and the city. It is an extremely well equipped and clean place, treats in the fridge upon arrival and everything you would want to cook meals in the kitchen. The king size bed was cozy, comfortable and the closets were equipped with enough hangers, an iron and ironing board. There is a dedicated area in the living room to work from, a beautiful sunny deck with pretty views of the water made for a perfect stay.The host was very kind and communicative. We truly loved this Marin escape and will surely be back.

We were close to hiking areas, stores, and not far from the GG bridge. Host lives on site upstairs, super polite, informative, and made us feel right at home. Home was the cleanest we have ever encountered. I wanted to point out as the listing mention; there are stairs. We managed fine as we are pretty active, but wanted to point this out for anyone that may have issues. There is a landing every few steps, so you can stop to catch your breath. We were amazed at how close we were to local hiking and overlooks. Area is beautiful and the wooded area makes you feel completely secluded.

Amazing stay in an amazing location

Just returned from 4 nights here. The place was just as described. Lovely well maintained property, modern and very spacious. Fully equipped with everything we needed and more! The location was perfect for us - a short drive from the ferry port over the bay to the Ferry Building (30 mins / $9 - with clipper card which is close to Pier 39. Perfect if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle but with great links. Also very locally is Sausalito and Muir woods - a must see if you’re staying in the area. Overall a perfect stay in a perfect property in a perfect location.

It was the perfect appartement, nice view, fast in downtown San Francisco. Terry and Bill are very nice and helpful. The appartement had everything in it, from the kitchen, living room, bathroom.... Clean and well organized. If we are back in this area, defenately again !

I've lived in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1978. Lots of communities are great. Berkeley's as entertaining as any place in the world, and Palo Alto and Menlo Park were both good addresses when I was working for dot-coms. And for a night-life, San Francisco is, of course, the place to be. But for being close to everything, yet feeling far away, Mill Valley is as good as it gets. (Go to Wikipedia, and look up 'Mill Valley' to see an amazing list of the rich and famous who have selected this town as their home.) While some parts of Mill Valley are hard to get to, this house is only 5.4 miles from the Golden Gate Bridge, making the property particularly practical.
