This charming little cottage is an incredible value for the area. It sits right on the water of Bass Harbor, has incredible sunrise views and is a short drive to everything that MDI has to offer. It was stocked with everything needed, with good cookware, utensils, and even a few staples. Thank you for sharing this special place with us!

This is a really beautiful and quiet location, right on the water with both a deck and a screen porch with amazing views. The kitchen and living room areas are open and comfortable, and the house is well equipped. Southwest Harbor is very nearby with lots of good restaurants, and there is great hiking just a short drive away. Do be aware that the main bedroom is very tight with limited clearance on either side of the bed. The bathroom is also quite small, but fully functional. We loved our stay here and enjoyed watching sea birds, herons, and lobster boats going about their daily business. Highly recommended!

Backbeach Cottage is one of the best places we have ever stayed. The location provides endless views that are beautiful rain or shine! The hostd Rusty and Lynn are very helpful, wonderful people who have made sure the cottage is clean and filled with everything you might need. need.

Great beach house for a small family or a couple on the quiet side of the island. You can't beat the views of the ocean. Close to Acadia National Park, very convenient.

Great view from the deck of the ocean, bedrooms are a little small, but comfortable. Nice kitchen, screened in porch and a nice deck.

We loved our stay here. We explored the island every day with only one day of rain. But the view here never gets old. You can watch the ferry to Swan's Island go by all day long. Simply said, it's lovely and we miss it. We were able to walk the beach each morning and evening and launched our kayak right out front. We kayaked out to Bass Harbor Lighthouse and other places. Rusty, the host, was a wonderful man who made our stay feel very comfortable. Thanks for sharing this wonderful place with us! We were sad to leave and will be back :)

I would definitely rent again. That should say it all. A few little quibbles. As other commenters said the bedrooms and shower are tight. So if you have mobility problems or are on the large side it may be an issue. I’m over 6 feet and run about 250lbs and the shower was a challenge. But, like the bedroom, it was perfectly functional. I wasn’t up there to sleep or luxuriate in spa like bathroom. View is as fantastic as described. The kitchen is modern. The living room is fine. Host is very friendly. Restaurants, Bar Harbor and Acadia park are all within easy driving distance. I hope I can rent it again.

Amazing location! Beautiful quiet beachfront on a working harbor, we watched the lobster boats go out & return daily. A little village with restaurants & shops nearby; Acadia's wonders only 15-45 minutes away. Birds & deer galore. Couldn't have asked for anything more!

Bass Harbor Sunrise

This waterfront cottage is perfectly situated to enjoy morning sunrises over Bass Harbor. The cottage is in a great location to explore Acadia from the quiet side.

The ocean at your front door

Rusty was extremely responsive and helpful, the check in process was super easy, and the view was absolutely beautiful. We loved our stay.

Great Place!!

This was our second stay at Beachside and it was just as great as our first! The location is amazing and the house has everything you need. Rusty, the owner, is very friendly and easy to contact if you need anything. A great “home base” but also just a great place to spend a day at as well. Looking forward to staying again!

Perfect side of Maine

Cozy, and close to what mattered to us... Best of the best for hiking, lobster and just chilling! And we did plenty of all three every day! The perfect host, perfect location and perfect vacation!
