Returning here is immediately relaxing. Everything we need is at hand. The home and its furnishings are like a time capsule back to the 1970’s. We did appreciate the updated walk-in shower on the first floor. We’ve already reserved for next year.

Great Stay

The location is incredible and the home is so comfortable. If you want fancy, stay somewhere else. But if you want well equipped, comfy and easy going, this is a wonderful spot.

Sweet Spot

We have been to this house a few times now...Every time we leave we can't wait to go back. The location is the best, and so is the way that the host anticipates what the guests may need. This is a pure beach experience.

Cozy home with great view of waves

We always enjoy staying at Singing Sands! Amazing views from every room. Easy to pack for stay because home is really fully furnished, the kitchen has everything. Home is always clean and inviting when you arrive! Arch Cape is beautiful area on Oregon coast!

Singing Sands always a treasure

No frills but still fabulous!

We keep coming back to this dog friendly beach-front jewel. Great location to explore Cannon Beach and Manzanita or just stay put and watch the waves roll in. Owner keeps the vintage charm and decor in clean condition. Grill and picnic table on covered porch are prime spot for lunch. Only one bedroom has a queen bed with the other two featuring two twin beds.

Always a pleasure

We’ve stayed here several times. The location can’t be beat. The house is fine, a bit dated inside but comfortable and convenient. New appliances were appreciated. The fact that it’s completely booked in the summer for the next two years says it all.

Family Really Enjoyed Our Stay

A beautiful perfect ocean front location away from the crowds of Haystack yet closed enough to enjoy in-town amenities with just a quick drive. This place is perfect for families who want to bring their dog. We greatly appreciated the personal touches such as puzzles and games, towels to dry doggies off after a walk on the beach, and enough firewood to have a fire each day! Note: You need to walk across what appears to be a rock erosion prevention area of about 10' wide to get onto the sand (all the houses along this beach have it), which could be challenging for those with mobility issues, but we quickly got used to it and the dogs had no problem. We would definitely return!

View home well located and supplied for lazy days on the ocean.

We found Singing Sands perfect for our needs. The kitchen is well stocked with a lot of meal prep supplies. There are games and foul weather coats provided and wood for the fireplace. The house has direct access to the beach. The reasons for the 4 stars instead of 5: Despite sending a couple of texts to the property manager and owner with various questions, including why WiFi was not working, we never received a response. The lighting in the living room is fairly dim, makes reading difficult. While the house is comfortable the furnishings and decor are dated. We felt as if we were staying in someone's grandparents house.

Great stay, as usual. Beach access is perfect, kids jumped in the ocean, tide was out low enough so we could walk through the arch to Cove Beach, etc. House clean and has everything we need. We’ve been coming back for 10 plus years.

'Singing Sands' in Arch Cape, Six Miles South of Cannon Beach, OR

In 1929, my great aunts, Elsie and Marie English, bought the Arch Cape Hotel and re-named it 'Singing Sands.' Family stories tell us it had been used by fur trappers and postmen.

Elsie and Marie came down from Seattle in the summers and provided room, board, and beach fun to relatives and paying guests. Highway 101 did not reach Arch Cape at that time, so they had to drive on the beach at low tide.

After Elsie and Marie retired from their teaching and school administration professions and moved to 'Singing Sands' permanently, they found it uncomfortable for winter living. Around 1955, the old 'Singing Sands' was torn down, and a new 'Singing Sands' was built, which I inherited in 1979.
The present 'Singing Sands' contains original furniture and happy memories. It is on an ocean front lot with easy beach access. There is a view of the famous Castle Rock, about one mile out to sea.

'Singing Sands' sleeps six. A single bedroom is located on the first floor with two twin beds and a bathroom with a handicap-accessible shower. Upstairs are two bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed and another with twin beds. This bathroom has a tub/shower. Each bedroom has a view of the ocean.

The living room has a fire place (wood is provided), and the fully equipped kitchen was recently remodeled. Both rooms have ocean views.
