This is a lovely, clean and thoughtfully designed unit. It is located on a beautiful property in the forest of Mendocino. It has everything necessary for a relaxing visit including a comfortable bed, nice linens and towels, and a fully equipped kitchen.The hosts are super friendly and make sure all you need are met. I would say this is the best place I’ve ever rented on Vrbo!

Our stay in the red barn was delightful. The space is very well done with a quality feel. The mattress was comfortable for me, which is not typical!The location requires care for night driving, but you are in the hills of California after all. Very quiet with the exceptional sounds of nature or the rare car passing by.If and when we return to the Mendocino area, we can hopefully return to the red barn. There are probably cheaper places around, but this location and the quality of the construction and interior are exceptional.The hosts are lovely and interesting people.This is a great location for exploring the area. Much to see and do with a short drive from the hilltop.

Very cool property. Close to the Pigmy forest and a great hike at the same location. A bit off the beaten path and away from any traffic which was also nice. Would stay again without hesitation.

The couple that built it clearly love this place and it reflected in our stay. The barn was sooo adorable and tucked away. So romantic and perfect for a weekend stay. Would definitely come again.

The location of Red Barn Retreat is that you are in a secluded area within a short walk to the Pygmy forest, part of a State park with lovely redwoods and trails and yet very convenient to restaurants, beaches, and many other State parks. Gabi and Richard live nearby and provided a friendly welcome but always respected privacy of their guests. Gabi is a wonderful massage therapist so that's a bonus to get a great massage right upstairs! The Retreat was SPOTLESS and very comfortable. You won't have any regrets if you have a chance to enjoy this retreat built with comfort and tranquility in mind.

Clean, with excellent towels and a very comfortable bed! Just a cozy experience in Little River. Loved the radiant heat floors - so nice when you wake up in the morning to feel a nice, toasty floor.

Perfect vacation cottage

This was perfect for our family vacation. Great location away from the crowds on the coast but still only a short drive to Mendocino. The house was cozy, clean and comfortable and Gabi and Richard were very helpful and welcoming. We’d love to come back!

Charming place with great hiking trial nearby

Enjoyed the full experience with my family! From the initial communication with Richard and Gabi, to the well maintained charming unit, to the easy access to hiking trails and Mendocino coast, everything was smooth and comfortable.

Like a top-notch homey hotel!

This beautifully decorated and well-kept, extremely clean, and cozy home was just what we needed. We felt very comfortable there and everything was provided. The location was lovely, and the hosts couldn’t be warmer or more responsive, helpful and hospitable. We highly recommend the red barn retreat!

Return trip was just as wonderful as the first.

This is our second visit to the Red Barn Retreat, and once again, it was a perfect place to retreat to after our bustling family Thanksgiving festivities on the coast. Well appointed, comfortable, peaceful and fabulous hosts. Thank you, Gabriele and Richard!

Charming country cottage

We enjoyed our stay at the Red Barn Retreat. The property is beautiful and we especially loved all the flowers in bloom around the house. The bed was very comfy and the kitchen well stocked. Our host was easy to communicate with and very responsive to our questions. The location is very close to the Pygmy Forest with some great hiking.

The Red Barn guest house was fantastic. It was well appointed providing everything you would need. It was charming, warm, inviting and spotless! Hosts were very friendly and communication was outstanding. Looking forward to many more stays.
