Griante chalet rentals

Loved it and can’t wait to return! The view is gorgeous—amazing sunsets and, in the morning, Varenna is lit up by the sun. The patio is also right next to an old waterfall/fountain ruin type of thing that is lit up at night and it’s stunning. The inside of the apartment is also fantastic and we loved the very large bathtub and the rain shower heads. A few things to know—it IS the penthouse so there are quite a bit of outside stairs to get to the apartment. It wasn’t really a problem for us but it might be tough for other guests. We had a car which was great as it allowed us to get groceries (there didn’t seem to be any nearby markets) and check out Bellano (which we loved) and the Castello Di Vezio (which was also great and our 6 year old particularly enjoyed) but the apartment is also close enough to Varenna that you can just walk into town (about a 20 minute hike either along the road which at points feels slightly treacherous or along the greenway which is a bit more up and down -and beautiful—but not near cars). When we were there it was in the upper 70s and low 80s and the apartment did get hot especially since it faces the sun for most of the day. The sleeping loft gets quite warm although there are two fans which helps and the downstairs bedroom does stay a bit cooler. But everywhere in town was hot—it’s just that time of year— and the ability to escape the crowds and everything else made this an absolutely amazing stay. The Varenna team was also really responsive!

Ein sehr schönes "uriges" Haus in Mitten der Natur. Lake Como Holiday war sehr hilfsbereit und für uns da wenn wir sie brauchten. Daher 5 von 5 Sterne! Man muss sich aber der Anfahrt bewusst sein. Wir hatten ein Allrad Fahrzeug, das allerdings so breit war (Tesla Model x) dass wir nicht bis zum Haus vorfahren konnten. Wir mussten 100m darunter im Wald parken, da die Strasse schlicht zu eng wurde.

The place was absolutely wonderfull. Smelled like fresh wood. Immaculate clean. With all amenities needed. Wonderful trail steps away from the front door. Walking distance to lake and 3 minutes walk to a great restaurant. Donato was a fantastic host. He came over right away when I needed and was always quick to respond. I highly recommend and will definitely come back.

As impressive as the view of the lake was, the stand-out feature was the hospitality and attention to detail by our host, Marina. We will return.

Took the train/bus to Varenna from Milan. Check in was a short walk from bus stop. Apartment was a perfect location for our visit. Public dock was right outside the apartment. Ferry was a 10 minute walk. Apartment was spacious and nice.

We chose Ca' Mia for our brief visit to the Lake Como area largely because it's location suited our anticipated day trip plans. Access to the Menaggio and Cadenabbia ferry stations was very convenient and allowed us to get back and forth across Lake Como both with and without our vehicle. We also enjoyed visiting Villa Carlotta which was very close to Ca' Mia. The rental property is tucked into a residential section on the side of the hills above Menaggio so there is no view of Lake Como from the property. The property was clean, rather spartan with respect to furnishings and wall decorations but generally a good value for the cost.

A little difficult to find but once we found it everything was good. About 20 min crazy drive ever day for us to Bellagio.
