  • Absolutely Perfect!

"My wife and I, along with another couple, came to 'Pelicanos' for 5 days ... 5 glorious days. The owners -- Gloria and Jose -- the perfect hosts. We had complete privacy (we're all clothing optional couples) and had the perfect time. The house is right on the beach and the supply room is full of paddle boards, surf boards, snorkeling gear, a BBQ and everything we needed to make our stay ... just perfect! From the patio, we saw 10-12 whales (up close, too!), manta rays, seals -- and lots of pelicans! We also had dinner up at Zac's Cafe twice, which was also excellent. We highly recommend 'Pelicanos' for couples and families."

  • PART 2 Remote Modern Rustic Private Beach house--tranquility perfected

"P2 We spent evenings with the children playing capture the flag in the outdoor space and we immersed ourselves in stars sitting by a maintenance free fire overlooking the ocean. The days were HOT (not humid) and nights were cool (no AC required)—we utilized the blankets by the fire and listened to the music of the waves. The layout of the home is PERFECT for 2 families or 4 couples (1 upper suite and 3 on main floor). For us it was easy to allocate bedrooms…parents had the ocean front suites…children had the back bedrooms. If splitting the cost between 4 couples, I would say it would be fair that the 2 couples who had the ocean front suites paid a different share of the cost than the rear bedroom occupants (something to work out before arriving). The rear bedrooms were PERFECT for sleeping…and not much time spent in them anyways. My thought is…whoever is booking and coordinating should get an ocean suite; that being said, if I HAD to sleep in a rear bedroom to accommodate group preferences…I would still do it JUST to be there . We pre-booked our rental SUV for pickup at airport…not a car (as staying in a remote house mean some tricky roads to navigate)…and I was REALLY happy we made that call…SUV rental was easy. We simply used Hertz. My ONLY hesitation in recommending El Colibri is that it will become more difficult for our family to book . We know that once you discover this place you will feel the same. We have already spoken to Carrie about re-booking for next year. NOTE: For families with young mobile toddlers this house could be challenging without dedicated 100% child monitoring. Our 5 year olds have reached a level of listening and respect for boundaries and rules—for us it was perfect. The design of the house is to optimize views of natural surroundings that would require diligence for peace of mind of parents. Age/mobility of children should be considered for your own peace of mind."

  • Family friendly vacation spot

"Our family of five and dog stayed for two weeks at this beautiful home in the Spring of 2017 - an amazing setting. The desert, the stars, the sunsets, the singing birds. The nice quick walk to the swimmable beach, the breeze that the house is designed to capture. The well stocked kitchen, the comfortable beds and pillows!! Our stay was just perfect. I highly recommend this off the beaten path home. It would be great for 3 couples as the rooms are all private or a family like ours. This is the spot for those wishing to venture away from the resort style of holiday, but wish to trek around and venture into the city when they wish. I highly recommend having Stephanie (property manager) do the first big grocery shop so you can hop off the plane and get straight to the house to start enjoying! And rent a vehicle that is 4x4.....you will want it with all the dirt roads. A few must do's- Flora Farms, boat to tip of the Baja, ATVs and La Lupita restaurant was our absolute fav."

  • Heaven for Whale Watchers

"We absolutely loved our week-long stay at Los Zacatitos. It's a world apart from the madness of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, and yet we could get to a big grocery store within half an hour if we needed to. The house is small--perfect for a couple--and both tastefully decorated and well-equipped--but the outside spaces are twice as large and we spent most of our time there. The rooftop palapa with its cushioned seating is the perfect place to sit every morning and watch whales--which we saw every day, multiple times--and the outdoor daybeds were our favorite place to lie in the shade and read. You have to be careful about water and electricity use, but we quickly adapted and were grateful for the good wi-fi connection. Although we didn't use the adjoining casita, it seemed like the perfect place for kids to stay (or for anyone who doesn't need to get up in the middle of the night to use the second bathroom, which is a distance away). We went to a different section of beach every day and were almost always the only ones there. Having Zac's Bar & Grille right in the neighborhood was a godsend, and we ate dinner there several times. The lap pool is gorgeous and we thought we'd use it more, but the chilly evenings meant cold water and we never got beyond the shallow end. We were visited daily by the wild burros, who kept us amused with their braying, and the bird life was varied and plentiful. We would love to return to this place some day."
