Returning renter, greatly enjoyed my time!
The Cozy Cabins are the perfect place for those wanting to get away from the bustle and noise of the city and just enjoy the quiet of nature. Very few vehicles along the road and very little air traffic through this region make it the best place to enjoy days and nights of quiet. Thank you, Jak and all, for the wonderful place to stay.

Ideal getaway for girls trip!
Perfect balance between seclusion & nearby activities. Our cabin came with all the amenities needed to enjoy our time without having to worry or venture too far. Each of the 2 cabins had their own outdoor bonfire area so you don't have to share spaces with strangers if you prefer not to. Surrounded by woods. Apart from a few corners with cobwebs, everything was tidy. Our WiFi did go out one of the nights and had to be reset by the owner while we were enjoying the nearest town but once we got ahold of them, it didn't take long. The only problem was actually having to travel closer to town for a cell signal in order to inform them our WiFi was out because none of us could get service at the cabin. We were already heading to town anyways so it wasn't an issue.

2nd time staying
We loved the first time me stayed at this location. This time around wasn’t as great of an experience as the cabin needed a good deep cleaning. The first night there we found a few tiny (brown) frogs in the cabin, no big deal as we expect that. However, my daughters were unable to sleep upstairs in the loaf as they kept getting spider bite (at least we think that’s what was). We asked properly manager to spray, but not sure it was a task they could do in a few hours. By the 3rd night my daughter had so many bites we did all we could not to be in the house. There were several small things that just made the trip a little less enjoyable. With that said the property management was easy to access and openly communicated, but overall a deep cleaning and of cabin with update furniture would be great.

Quiet and peaceful cabin
This is a great spot if you want a quiet place. Its not fancy but was the perfect spot for us! Close enough to town and all of the sights, but far away from the busy downtown. Do yourself a favor and visit Buckhorn lounge and restaurant.

Unable to stay at property
When we pulled in there were sworms of mosquitoes and horse flys. We are outdoor people who generally are ok with bugs and nature. Infact we are Boy Scout leaders who primitively camp often. However, we had to pull the car directly infront of the door, cover ourselves and make a run for it. Naturally this is not something the owner can control, however we couldn't even go inside without a massive amount of horse flys and misquetos coming at us. The fear of being bit or one of these bugs getting into the house was just to much. There was no way we could have even unpacked our car. I did message the contact person and was refunded my cleaning fee. The inside of the cabin was clean, cute and exactly what we were looking for. Its just a shame that we paid for a stay and had to go to a hotel. If it wasn't for the amount of bugs we would have enjoyed this place.

Wonderful place with lots of trails - Dog friendly.
This is our second year at this location which is a testimony to the quality of our stay. The owners are wonderful and you can have as much privacy as you want. We have two large dogs that we take with us and we use the USFS trails leaving from the property for hiking. A truly delightful experience.. We booked two weeks this year and it was so relaxing! We recommend this for anyone who wants to unwind. Doug Munn

Super Peaceful
The property was exactly as advertised and a great value at the price point. We were a little unprepared for how the “15 miles from Munising” translated into actual travel time (I.e. 30-40 minutes travel time) But, once we adjusted accordingly we were very happy to be somewhat removed from Munising “proper.” 10/10 would stay here again.

A good place to disconnect
Kouw’s Cozy Cabins… how can I describe it? Very cozy, definitely a nice drive down about 5 miles of gravel roads. But boy is it worth it. The cabins are very isolated, but have all the amenities you could want for a short trip. Nice stoves, fully stocked kitchen, comfy beds, a shower, and a fire pit. Pair that with a nice quiet place and the most beautiful night sky I’ve ever seen, and you have yourself a perfect Upper Peninsula trip.

Snowmobile trip
Easy trail access. Some properties advertise it, this one has it. 1.4 miles from trail 7 down a back country road. Huge parking area behind cabin. Cabin was clean and the owner checked with us to say hello as we moved in. Pictures in the ad are accurate. The cabin is starting to show its age, but it was clean and we will stay again.

Wonderful time.
We spent 2 weeks at the cabins. Had a wonderful time. Our cabin was well appointed with sheets and blankets for all beds and toiletries in the bathroom. We have two large dogs which enjoyed the vacation also. The property is in the middle of the Hiawatha National Forest and we took the dogs on walks every day on the snowbile and ATV trails that were everywhere. Very quiet location with hardly any traffic (the cabins are off the main road, set in on the property. If 'you want a quiet relaxing stay, this is the place!!

Stay on Main Road Doe Lake Rd & 16 mile lake road
My title literally tells you the roads to be on the look out for. Do not use on star or Apple Maps they take you on logging by roads or trails. Aside from the detour of a logging road we had a great stay. The house was nice and clean (tho hot). I’ll add some tips as these will just make your stay more pleasant if traveling with family and kids. 1. If using oven be prepared for the smoke detector to go off. Even with fan and both doors open there isn’t much ventilation. 2. The screen/door wall slide easy and sometimes don’t close all the way, watch what your doing to be aware. 3. Be prepared for visitors (Mila and Porter are owners dogs.) Porter refused to leave which made it challenging to let our dogs out as they are protecting their families and a new dog they didn’t know wanted to come in. There are also two barn cats. Both didn’t stick around once our dogs got out of car. But they definitely are not afraid. There are also cows, pigs and other farm animals on the land. They didn’t bother us at all with noise. Also if traveling with dogs, be advised there are some lawn pest that will bite your pet. 3. Leave A/C on in the summer with door in master room open this help to cool the rest of the home. 4. Expect wildlife in the back yard. We seen 3 bear Cubs and some other animals but they didn’t cross wood are far over. 5. Bring extra towels, paper towel and toiletries. We had 3 kids (2x14 and a 9 year old) with myself and husband we used all towels the first day. It was hard to air dry them. 6. Shower is small but pressure of water was good considering we were in the woods. Although for shorter people like myself it posed a challenge to washing long hair. 7. WiFi is great but don’t use the name in the book it’s the guest one you sign in with. Cable is also great if you want to lounge around. 8. The upstairs is hot! Open window and turn fan on. This goes for downstairs also, keep fan running. 9. Owners are more than willing to help with anything. Don’t hesitate to tell them if there is something wrong or needed. We would definitely rent here again and plan on doing so. Overall it’s a great place to stay, located within hour to all major areas. Great place to teach kids to drive and just have fun.

The cottage in the forest was awesome! It was very quiet and peaceful which was the setting we were looking for. We enjoyed sitting around the fire! The owners were very responsive and nice to talk to. During the day, we kayaked Lake Superior and hiked to see waterfalls. The entire experience was amazing!

A total hidden (dog friendly) gem.
We are so grateful for our stay in this cabin!! It's rustic, funky, creaky, and we adored it. The owners are wonderful people and I'm glad we got to spend some time with them while we were there. The dogs were thrilled to death with the space to roam, and not to mention their new friends Port & Mila! Please give Porter a big kiss on the head from me, I miss him already. These cabins are located just a 15 minute ride from town down a dirt/gravel (well-flattened) road. Could definitely be accessed with a car, though we did have a small SUV (w/o AWD). Make sure to look up at the stars while you're out there, they're magnificent.

Cozy cabin
This cabin was just what we were looking for. Secluded in the woods but only about 15 minutes from downtown Munising and all the attractions. Jak greeted us when we first arrived and seemed very friendly. It was just the two of us so we slept in the double bed and the mattress wasn’t the best. The only other two tiny hiccups was the can opener was broke and the coffee pot didn’t seem to be brewing right. Other than that I would recommend this cabin and definitely stay here again!
