Beautiful Oceanfront Home, Private Location with miles of Secluded Beach. Perfect!!!!
Our Home is called Pleasant Dreams because it is located on Pleasant Harbor in Northern Andros (and it is our Dream come true!). The house is completely secluded surrounded by coconut palms, island habitat, white sandy beaches and turquoise ocean waters. You can walk the secluded white sandy beaches for hours seldom encountering another sole. The third longest Barrier reef in the world borders the island of Andros, making it a spectacular Diving, Snorkeling, and Fishing destination.
Our miles of sandy beach/ocean front with crystal clear turquoise waters is perfect for children, where the shallow waters, gradually descend deeper. Also great for the adult who likes to swim, float on chairs in the beautiful water and relax in the sun. For the adventurous adult, deeper waters and snorkeling are just a short swim out. There are several small reefs (easy to snorkel on) right off of our beach where you can spear lobster, collect conch, and fish or snorkel for many kinds of reef fish.
There is also some very good BoneFishing (Andros is known as the 'Bonefishing capital of the world') right off of our beaches. If you are interested in Sport or Spear Fishing off of a 28 foot sport-fishing boat (for Mahi Mahi, Dolphin, Grouper, and other large game fish), Guided Snorkeling Trips, or a BoneFishing boat & guide, Rodney Miller (a local Bahamian fisherman) will be glad to set up an island adventure that you won't forget. He will pick you up in his boat right in front of the house!!! Let us know if you are interested in these options.
For the non-fisherman, Kayaking, walking the empty beaches, relaxing in the crystal clear waters on floating chairs, Biking on the Complementary Bicycles provided, and beach combing for shells is a favorite pastime. In addition, Andros is an excellent place to go for Bird Watching. There are more than 300 species of birds found in the Bahamas.
One hundred and nine species breed in the Bahamas, 169 species migrate or winter here, and 45 species are vagrants. Pleasant Dreams can be rented in two different ways: 1. As a Three Bedroom 2 Baths (sleeps 6) or 2. As a Two Bedroom 1 Bath (sleeps 4). The whole house is always yours, we just rent the smaller portion if there is a smaller party and they don't need the whole house for a cost savings. The Master Bedroom is located on one side of the house and can be locked separately so that the whole house does not need to be rented if you do not need the space. The Master Bedroom has a King Size Bed with an Ocean View, and a small private bath with a shower. Main House has two bedrooms, which can either be made into Two King Size Bed (with pillow tops) Or Two Twins Beds in Each Room (We just need to know ahead of time what configuration you would like). We also have an additional trundle bed and air beds for extra sleeping arranged upon request and with permission
One bedroom has a beautiful Oceanview the other, overlooking the gardens and coconut palms swaying in the breeze. The bath in the main house has a tub/shower combination. The Kitchen is modern with stainless steel tables and open shelving, gas stove, coffee maker, microwave, toaster oven, and a full refrigerator. The Living Room/Dining Room is pleasantly furnished with a large dining room table which seats 8-10, beach house rattan living room furniture, a TV/VCR (for viewing movies only), large supply of movies, and a working fireplace for those cool January evenings.
Andros is known as an 'Outer or Family Island' which requires some explanation. No one (that we know of) takes credit cards, and travelers checks can be a problem (not everyone takes them or they charge you extra to use them). Cash is the best thing to bring for money. There is an ATM on the island that you can access if you need more cash, it is located a couple of miles from our house.
It is great fun to Kayak out to Money Cay to look for sandollars and shells, fish, swim, snorkle, or relax in the hammock overlooking turquoise clear waters, and ocean breezes.

We LOVE this house. Wish we could own it! We have rented this house twice, both for about 10 days each visit. Plenty of room for a group with an incredibly well stocked kitchen. The best thing of all is the beach out front of the house. The only downside is that local markets are not well stocked, and eating out is not a great option. So, be prepared to cook - bring along snacks, and other food staples and enjoy this house with home cooked meals. Also, bring bug spray - the no see ums can be a bit much! We suggest renting a car so you can explore the island, do some basic grocery shopping, etc.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
Great place to relax and get away from it all!

We are 3 couples in our 30 and 40's and like to get together for an annual trip to the islands. We chose Andros because of the relaxed nature of the Bahamas and it's relatively inexpensive. Pleasant Dreams was a great VRBO and we had a wonderful time. The house is set in a lovely location right on a secluded beach near Morgan's Bluff in North Andros. The house is clean, has a full kitchen and comfortable beds, and had all the amenities anyone could ask for. There were bikes, kayaks, a BBQ grill, wireless internet and lots of movies to watch at night. Here's a list of what we did. 1. biked to Uncle Charlie's blue hole and went for a swim *warning avoid touching Poisonwood, which is everywhere!* 2. kayaked out to money cay 3. rented a car and drove to Fresh Creek and went on a dive trip with Small Hope Bay Lodge 4. drove out to the west side and visited Red Bays and bought some handmade baskets 5. biked to Lowe's Sound and picked up some local rum and beer 6. snorkeled out on the reef and speared lobster and crabs just in front of the house 7. biked out to and snorkeled the blue hole at Conch Sound 8. Hired a fishing guide to go bonefishing 9. made a fire on the beach and enjoyed good rum and good company If you run into a problem with the house just ask the caretaker for help. We ran out of propane in the grill and they were more then happy to give us a replacement tank. One thing to be absolutely aware of is poison wood. We ran into it at Uncle Charlie's blue hole. The rope swing is tied to a poison wood tree. The reaction is similar to poison ivy or poison oak, but this is a woody tree, unlike the aforementioned plants. Please identify the plant before you head off into the woods. All of us have been suffering from the reaction for several weeks post-vacation. All in all, this is a wonderful place to visit if you want a relaxed, isolated, beach front vacation. But don't expect well stocked stores, lavish restaurants, or other "luxury" amenities. This is a spot for people wanting to get away from it all. The people are friendly, the sunshine is warm, and the water is beautiful.

We (two couples) spent a week in early August 2010. Everything was as described except for the beach, it was beyond description. The house was well appointed and the air conditioners worked. The caretaker (Hank) left us to ourselves but was available when we wanted him. We anchored the boat in the protected cove in front of the beach. The bugs kept us from lounging around the exterior at dawn and dusk, this just gave us wonderful afternoon/evenings in the water on the calm soft white sand beach. It is quite isolated, but necessities are available. Plan to rent a car for at least a day or two. All in all a wonderful place to have your own boat for water sports and exploration.

Pleasant dreams is just that. What a beautiful piece of paradise. Everything written about Pleasant Dreams and Andros is true. Hank & Rodney & Diane are just the most wonderful people. They were there for any help we needed and just to converse with. We seen more aquatic life here than ever before. We have been to 4 islands in Bahamas, This exceeded our expectations by far. Thank You for sharing your island and home with us. It is now a pleasant memory. Christine

Pleasant Dreams exceeded all my expectations. You never know what you will find once you actually get to the location that looked so wonderful on the WEB Site. Let me say this is not the case with Pleasant Dreams. You will be happy with your choice. The house was clean, the appliances worked, the beach was wonderful and secluded, the Petersens are excellent to work with, and the people on N. Andros are delightful. There are bikes to ride into town, it was about 2.5-3miles to the store if you don't have a car (we didn't), there are kayaks to paddle your way to Money Cay, plenty of shells to find and the pace of life is slow and relaxing. N. Andros is not a place to go "clubbing" and there are no high rises. But if you want to enjoy nature and it's bounty you will be happy. Now I have to figure out how to return....

wow... what a vacation. We have been to several other islands but this vacation was by far the best. There was no need to watch the time... you can eat when your hungry, swim when your hot, take a nap in the afternoon or just read a book .. We have always taken vacations where there was so much going on you never have time to relax.. This place is not one of those..its beautiful, everyone is friendly and helpful, the house was great!!! and the kids were forced to live without cable, telephone and internet. It was so great,,,we are going back and hope to become regulars (o:

2/29/04-3/8/04 Our stay here was the best! We have traveled over the world and our vacation at Pleasant Dreams Beach House was REALLY a vacation; relaxing, thought provoking and peaceful. The biggest decision we made all week was which way we should walk on the beach, left or right! The house is very comfortable with excellent kitchen facilities, living-dining room and bedrooms. We always enjoyed a good snooze in the hammock and the ability to use the sea kayaks was a plus. We traveled around the island and the best beach is right here in front! We took the kayaks out and enjoyed snorkeling where we saw lobster, many colorful fish and even a sea turtle. We recomend you stop at Rex and Rosies on Low Sound for some excellent cracked conch. We are sad to leave this beautiful place but are already looking forward to returning. Thank you for everything, Steve and Lin.

We have to agree, you need two weeks, and we don't want to leave. We never new how fast a week could actually go by. After playing in the lagoon, kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, beach combing, we took a fishing trip with Rodney. We saw literally hundreds of bone fish, wow! Along with several sharks, lots of star fish and misc. other fish. It was a traffic day!! The next day we took the sight seeing trip with Hank. Had a wonderful time. He took us to all kinds of local talented artists, from basket makers to bread makers; we were totally in awe of the island talents. Grizzly's prepared an excellent lunch and the local fresh vegetable grower, provided some delightful fresh vegetables for a homemade sauce. The neighbors have all been exceptionally friendly. Our stay here has been most enjoyable. What a wonderful set-up to have a wedding. The house and beach are perfect. Hank told us of some improvements you anticipate, with the wood bridge he mentioned you will be constructing over the canal, it would make a wonderful walk way for a bride down to the beach. I have decided if one of my daughters ever decide to marry, this would be the perfect place! You have definitely found an exceptional person to take care of your Guests. Hank is a keeper. We would be pleased to employ him ourselves! Thank-you for sharing your home, a beautiful place to anticipate pleasant dreams! Robert & Kathy Tice Coeur d 'Alene, Idaho
Owner response:Just wanted folks to know, the sharks that they were seeing were nurse sharks, they are often in the shallows, beautiful to look at, but harmless! Lin
