Location: Quebec City, Quebec, Canada (Old Quebec, Upper Town, Part of UNESCO World Heritage Site) View Map
Accommodations: Condominium, 3 Bedrooms + Library, 2 Baths (Sleeps 6)
Spacious (1990+ sq ft) and elegant 186+ year old vacation residence at the heart of Old Québec's magnificent architectural treasurers, included within the UNESCO World Heritage Site and overlooking Upper Town's memorial square.
With next door "neighbors" including the 1804 Holy Trinity Cathedral (modeled on London's St. Martin-In-The Fields and the oldest Anglican church outside of Great Britain) just across the square, the 1722 Ursulines Chapel, Museum and Monastery right across the street, the world famous Musee d'art Inuit Brousseau at the end of the street, Battlefields Park (the world's tenth largest city park) just up the hill, Notre-Dame Basilica-Cathedral just down the street ...and the Restaurant Aux Anciens Canadiens (the oldest building in the province known as la Maison Jaquet) simply around the corner; this condominium home is at the heart of the Ville de Québec's historical treasurers.
Within one block of the Chateau, this 2-level home provides the ideal "home base" for exploring the surrounding town, for gracious entertaining and casual lounging activities.
Located on a quiet street, the main entrance incorporates the first level of a keyed building constructed of cut limestone in the Neo Classical tradition. Upon entering, you are greeted by a pair of carved wood and stain glass entry doors leading to a private interior foyer ... The residence of Louis-Philippe Pelletier, Quebec's Supreme Court judge in the 1890s and the judge in the trial of the King versus Marie-Anne Houde.
This "Grand Level" has 12 foot ceilings plus restored original Corinthian details and includes a living room with 9-foot high shuttered windows (overlooking Upper Town's charming square), formal dining room (seating for 12), complete kitchen, breakfast area, a full bath and a library/office. Floors are antique narrow-strip polished natural finish Canadian maple.
The "Lower Level" presents an intimate ambiance with its profusion of rustic stone walls, decorative fireplace and hued wood beams. The three bedrooms all have clerestory windows and polished walnut finished wood floors. The bathroom on this level is inset into a room with exposed stone walls and features one of two contemporary glass shower stalls, ceramic tile floors and a refurbished period claw-foot tub.
Decorated with antiques, "over stuffed" country French furnishings and an eclectic art collection; it's a sophisticated yet very comfortable environment.
Shopping, dining, museums and cultural events are less than a block away South to rue Ste Louis or one block North to rue Ste Anne. For the best in fresh meats, produce, a good bottle of wine or a quick snack a great deli is just two doors away.
*THE SUMMER SEASON
Reserve this elegant home for an unforgettable visit. The summer months are a wonderfully mild season in this magical city with special events daily including New France Historical Celebrations just down the hill and the Changing of the Guard just up the hill in La Citadelle. Throughout the summer, the Old City overflows with
window boxes and hanging flower baskets.
For high energy fun, consider "The Fete National Festival, "The New France Festival", "The Quebec Military Band & Tattoo Festival", "Expo Quebec" or "The International Québec City Summer Festival" that transforms Old Québec into a giant outdoor stage. Over 500 shows of every description are held at some fifteen venues within easy walking distance of this elegant accommodation.
*WINTER FUN
It's also never too early to consider a winter fun and ski get-away. This home is an ideal balance between close-by world class ski destinations like Mount St. Anne and Stoneham and great in-town night life ...for a truly French/European Christmas season, reserve this special home in December and have a magical holiday.
Or join in Québec's famous "Winter Carnival" festivities; the biggest winter carnival in the world. Most events are right in the neighborhood.
*THE "OFF" SEASONS
If art collecting, antiquing, or a quiet romantic get-away's the
goal, consider booking a stay during our off seasons. The crowds are gone and the locals "retake" the cafes as Old Québec slows down to a pace that matches the changing seasons.
The streets and squares echo the horse-drawn carriages' passing as
the clip-clop melody passes right by the front door. The quiet seasons also bring the city's old-world charm into focus as church bells harken the passing days. It's a great way to sample the town's timeless European tempo.
Quite Season festivals include "The Festival of Sacred Music, "Ile d' Orleanes Festival", "Challenge Bell (Women's Pro Tennis)", "Le Carrefour International Theatre Festival" and "The Wine, Beer and Cheese Festival" plus others.

Why the Owner Chose Quebec City
We celebrated our honeymoon in Quebec in 2002 and we both fell in love with the city. As a child, I had visited relatives in Trois-Rivieres and Ste-Hyacinthe, but never to la Belle Ville de Quebec; for Cindy, it was her first visit and it was a magical experience for the both of us.
The heart of The Old City is in many ways more like Paris than Paris …it’s like an expanded Ile de Cite. All of Upper Town (within the ancient fortifications) and Lower Town (at the foot of the ramparts) are priceless windows into the past (and were designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985).

The Unique Benefits at this Condominium
Life in Quebec is notably less stressful than day-to-day living in the States and we enjoy winding-down when ever we're here. While the winters are long and harsh; there’s a joy-of-life that permeates the town and transcends even the harsh winter climate. Spring, Summer and Autumn are jewels. The city overflows with flowers, artists and events. There are PDF brochures for each season as well as detailed information about 18 festivals and special events.
"The "Grand Level" has 12 foot ceilings plus restored original Corinthian details and includes a living room with 9-foot high shuttered windows (overlooking Upper Town's charming square)with a formal dining room and seating for 12.
The 'Lower Level' presents an intimate ambiance with its profusion of rustic stone walls, decorative fireplace and hued wood beams. The three bedrooms all have clerestory windows and polished walnut finished wood floors. The Master Bedroom was the home's original kitchen, with the massive cooking fireplace now just behind the king bed tapestry. The two additional bedrooms were once servant quarters; most likely for staff employed in the kitchen and Grand Level."
La Maison Ursulines is 186+ years old, is 1990+ sq. ft and is the third structure built on the site. My personal pleasure is maintaining and improving the property; knowing that we as owners are really only “care takers” of this priceless piece of history for a while.
Owner's Map of Quebec City
Both of my parents were French Canadian, with my father’s sir-name dating back to Louis Tetreau, son of Mathurin Tetreau and Marie Beernard who arrived in Quebec in 1662.

September 8, 2009 Paul, We had a wonderful time in Quebec City, and the best part was staying in your lovely home. We found the house very comfortable and convenient to many places. The people there were very friendly and enjoyed just listening to French conversations everywhere we went. We wished that we could speak the language ourselves. Thanks again, Jeff

My husband and I wanted to write to thank you for sharing your beautiful condominium with us. We had a most delightful week in Quebec City! The location was perfect--close to everything the "Haute-Ville" has to offer. This was a much happier experiece than a stay in any luxury hotel. The condo is so spacious, yet warm and inviting, and so tastefully decorated! We will book early for next year, as this has become our new home away from home. Many thanks again for an unforgettable holiday

Great house! Excellent location! Old Quebec is a beautiful city and especially nice to walk everywhere and not bother with the car. We dined at some fabulous restaurants: Café de la Paix (44 rue desJardins), Pain Beni (our favorite) at 34 rue Ste Anne, Aux Anciens Canadiens (34 rue Ste Louis). This has been a good time of year to visit …no crowds, good cool weather. Thank you for sharing your home.

“Good girls go to heaven …bad girls go to Quebec!” Thus begins the saga of the fabulous Houns girls and their saga! What a glorious way to celebrate my 78th birthday with my two daughters. From the beginning to the end, we had a wonderful time and a delightfully fun time. We took in ALL the sights, the wonderful cuisine, got “hit on” by the suave Frenchmen we encountered and this was a major thrill at my lofty age. We highly recommend the high tea at the Chateau Frontnac (one of our few refined moments, but so much fun!) The apartment is spectacular, so beautiful and with every convenience, as well as very accessible. With my heritage of my grandparents being natives of Quebec, I felt a great sense of deja-vux as well as a sense of “belonging” here. It was a moving experience for all of us. Ed was most helpful in every way and we greatly appreciated his help in making this a special trip for us. We will tell our friends about this beautiful apartment and hope to return in the ear future. Merce beaucoup,

What a lovely sanctuary to return to each day. Elegant, comfortable and pleasing in every way. Our visit to Quebec exceeded expectations saw a lot, walked a lot, learned a lot, and ate a lot laughed a lot, did I mention walked a lot? Thank you Ed, for your hospitality and thoughtfulness. Next time we promise to bring Jack so you can meet the pastor unless the flannel shirt fellowship is fly fishing for Brookes 200 miles father north. Blessing on your growing family.
