Upon opening the front door of Hale Pali Kai and seeing the entire opposite wall of the great room wide open to the lanai, we knew we were in for a very special stay. Much of our time here was spent on the lanai, watching the changing shadows on the mountains across the valley, the cruise ships arriving and departing from the harbor, and the many surfers, snorkelers, and beachcombers below and around Kalapaki Bay.

This is pure luxury, from the upper loft bedroom with a superb pullout sofa and private bath, through the great room and kitchen, to the lower two master suites, each with a massive bathroom and private lanai. This home is designed for entertaining and comes alive in the evening when the sun goes down and the lights of the nearby resort come on. My friends and I spent most evenings chatting around the large granite-topped kitchen island or watching the sunsets from the lanai. The entertainment system is amazing, as are the flat screen TVs throughout the home.

Everything you'll want including a wide variety of music (including traditional Hawaiian) and current movies on DVD is here. The free WiFi allowed us to keep in touch with the outside world...but we mostly ignored it! We golfed, dived, and even took a helicopter tour of the island. Everything is close by and Hale Pali Kai is the perfect place for a Bear and his friends to get away from the outside world.

  This place is fantastic!!!! First the Cons - which were very minor - Had the wrong door code when we arrived in the poring rain (typo by the owner - Caretakers let us in). A/C was on the fritz and it was quite humid that night ( was fixed a day later). TV in lower level broke before arrival (but who needs TV when in paradise. Pro's - Location, View and most of all the home. It is a great place to stay and we found ourselves having a blast just doing nothing at night but socializing on the patio or in the kitchen. The home is equipped with everything you need for cooking and for relaxing. It is centrally located which allowed us to go either north or south. We actually saw the whole island over a couple of days including hiking, snorkeling, etc. The use of the Marriott is great. The pool is fantastic to be lazy at and the beach area is nice. It's not the ocean like the north shore but does provide good bogey boarding and snorkeling right below the house. There are a ton of fish if you swim right out below the home and further out from there (needs to be calm and preferably sunny to see). The sound system in the home takes some getting used too but I believe a new instruction guide is being created. Music in the home is great at sunset with a bottle of wine. I listed the cons at the top but they were minor and tended too. The AC was a bummer the first night as it was very humid but it worked itself out and Steve was very responsive (as was their local caretakers) We are looking forward to a return trip in the future and while there may be less expensive places to stay, I would step up and enjoy the opportunity to have everything at your doorstep and unwind.

  As a single father with 4 children staying in hotels is both expensive and not practical. Especially in places like Hawaii. However I also have very high standards for my family and expect great amenities. This property had it all. Great location close to the airport (their was little if no airport traffic noise), close to Costco. Great location to the Marriott next door. The property comes with hotel priviledges and my kids loved the elevator to the beach. The beach at the Marriott may be one of the most overlooked beaches in Kauai. My kids loved the waves for body surfing and it was nice to have towel service, hotel service, and pool just a few feet away. Bottom line it was EASY. I like the fact that being in Lihue seemed centrally located to explore the rest of the island as well. Easy to head South or North it was a great base of operatons. The house was a 10. Modern in design, and furnishing, beautiful views, richly appointed. Well thought out in design and construction. Bathrooms are great and the showers are wonderful. Large bedrooms and the house can sleep alot of people. Kitchen is well appointed with every convenience and need, easy to work in and entertain. No expense was spared in materials in building this dream house. Steve the owner is extremely pleasant to deal with, and very accessible both early in the rental agreement phase as well as once you are on the property. Great guy to work with and very helpful. This property will not disapoint. When we head back to Kauai we would love to spend another vacation at this property. It would be #1 on my list. In retrospect I wished I had booked two weeks at this fabulous house rather than just one. The house was that comfortable. Make sure to make friends with Chucky next door as well!

  We were fortunate to have stayed here with our two teenage children. Every moring we woke to the sounds of waves crashing on the beach. The condo was just as advertised: FABULOUS! We so enjoyed the lovely view while having breakfast and evening cocktails on deck. With everyone having enough space to spread out and have their privacy, it truly felt like home. Steve was great about giving us suggestions on where to eat and places to visit. What a wonderful place to enjoy a family vacation! We hope to visit again.

  We (6 adults) spent 10 days at this awesome condo over Christmas 2011. It is exactly as described, and really well located for exploring the rest of Kauai - best done with a rental car. We had plenty of space so that everyone could enjoy being together, but also have privacy when they wanted it. The two bedrooms downstairs are very spacious and private, with big bathrooms, lots of closet space, huge views, and lanais. We also used the loft area above the kitchen as a 3rd bedroom and that worked out well. The sofa bed was quite comfortable & the loft has its own bath with shower. The beach is literally downstairs and nice for lounging or swimming. You can rent paddleboards and other gear right there. We really appreciated having the space and full facilities of a condo, with all of the conveniences of the hotel/restaurants/bars right there. This is a great place - and the central location worked really well for us. We hope to return soon!

  My family of 8 stayed a blissful week at this beautiful home. Everything was exactly as described. We appreciated that each of the large bedrooms were on their own level, giving everyone a lot of space and privacy. The property was very clean and well maintained. We spent a lot of time at the Marriott pool, just a short walk from the property. Steve was extremely helpful, friendly and prompt in answering all of our questions. Thank you, Steve! You helped make our family vacation one we will all happily remember!We definitely recommend this property!

  This property is breathtaking. As with other reviews, the description and pictures cannot do it justice. Everything is first class and it is easy to see why people return to this beautiful home. From the stunning views, to the convenient location, and peaceful surroundings, it reflects everything aloha. The central location is perfect for families/large parties as it is convenient to all things Kauai. The owner is wonderful to work with and could not be more helpful and accommodating. During a birthday celebration, we hired a local chef to prepare our dinner - it was magical. The food was amazing, sunset stunning; that and with all of the comforts of home. I will certainly return to this beautiful piece of paradise.

  The condo was exactly as advertised, and was every bit as good as we'd hoped. The location was convenient to all of our activities, and the view from the top of the cliff is great. When we weren't enjoying the comfort & views of the condo, we spent a good amount of time at the Marriott resort using the fitness center, pool and beach. Nice place, and easy to get to. There are also a number of restaurants & shops within walking diatance. The condo is well furnished & equipped, and the three couples were very confortable during our stay. The owner provided all of the information needed to access & "use" the condo, and was easy to contact when we had questions. We'd certainly consider staying here again, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great condo.

  Dear Steve, Just wanted to say Mahalo for sharing your fabulous home with us. It is absolutely out of the ordinary and the family thoroughly enjoyed every corner of it, even the geckos and the spiders by the garbage cans outside, and of course Chucky......next door.   Just got home from a five day stay at this luxury home. As beautiful as the pictures are, they don't do the house justice - I loved it! All the furnishings in this home are top notch. It was hard to leave this home to do anything. I just wanted to sit on the lanai all day long! And it's just a short walk and elevator ride to the Marriot beach and amenities. I can't wait to stay here again!
