To enter your apartment you walk through a huge oak door off a classically French cobblestone, pedestrian street. As you walk up to the first level of this ancient, stone house you will know you have found your own "home away from home" in the real France.

Your apartment welcomes you with the warmth of stone walls, beamed ceilings, elegant lighting and colors. You will find all the comforts of home with gas central heating, very well equipped kitchen and all the little touches that make a difference: guide books, traveling book library, maps, ideas from previous guests and a market basket to ensure you are equiped from your very first day.

Being south facing the apartment has excellent natural light and at 46 square metres it is very comfortable for up to 4 people.

When you walk out of the front door, you are in the very heart of the "old town". You can spend hours exploring the maze of little winding streets and historic sites, you could take a picnic to the river valley or just soak up the atmosphere of this town that has been declared a national treasure. The famous market on Wednesdays and Saturdays is at the end of your street. Cafes, patisseries, boulangeries, restaurants, hairdressers, banks are all within a few metres of the front door. Yet the apartment is tranquil and relaxing.

There is free car parking (open air) or paid parking can be arranged at our private garage just a few minutes flat walk away. It is great if you can plan your arrival on a Friday, to be there to enjoy the famous Uzes Saturday market, to get your provisions for the week and to begin to meet and get to know the locals. However there is no set change over date for the apartment.

I want you to enjoy your stay so I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the region or the apartment. Having traveled to France a lot (and often with children!) believe me - there are no silly questions!

    • Convertible Bed: A sofa bed in the lounge area converts to a double bed of 140cms by 190cms.It has a slatted base and is very comfortable.

    • The apartment is one of only 3 in an historic, stone village pied a terre. The original features such as exposed stone walls and ceiling beams have been preserved and sensitively combined with modern fittings and features. It has new gas central heating as well as new plumbing and electricity (2007)so you can be assured of every comfort. The bathroom has a full-sized bath and the kitchen is very well equiped. It is perfect for a couple or up to four people. Yhe access is via an easy one level walk up, with the apartment being all on one level. If you are arriving by car you can park about 10 metres away, at the end of the street to unload your baggage. The secure, undercover car parking is then within a 5 minute flat walk. Teenagers and young adults also enjoy this position as they are right in "centre ville" and can access the nearby internet cafe, cinema, cafes, wine bars and local music and drama performances that are regularly held in Uzes.

    • Sitting right on the western side of Provence, Uzes is ideally located to access vineyards, famous pottery "villages", the historic Pont Du Gard and region (14 km from Uzes), Chateau Neuf du Pape Region (44kms), L'Isle Sur La Sourge, the Vaucluse, Les Baux and Northern Provence (Arles is at 63kms). Cities such as Aix en Provence (137kms), Marseilles (153kms), and Montpellier (82 kms) are also within an easy "day trip" distance. The region has a vibrant art and culture activity calender, with classes held on painting, pottery, french language, singing and performance in the area.

We all had a wonderful time and thank you for allowing us to use your apartment at such short notice and for all the info you sent before hand.     • The apartment is perfectly situated in the great village of Uzes. Close to essential things like bakeries and wine shops (and generally everything else). The apartment is beautiful - cool inside when its warm outside. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking if you decide to stay in. All in all, highly recommended.
