I first found this amazing tower on VRBO a year before my husband & I ended up coming here & we thankfully planned our month long trip to Spain around it. Elena & Jose have meticulously restored their gorgeous, ancestral 15th century tower into a warm, cozy, stunning holiday home for all of us to enjoy. They kindly welcomed us & showed us around. They are very friendly and gracious. Elena even went out of her way to accommodate us with extending our original stay by 2 nights as our subsequent reservations in Barcelona were cancelled on us. That was serendipitous! We felt at home immediately. After settling in, we relished in the quiet, dulcet tones of singing birds & the gentle, charming clanging of cowbells in the distance. I haven't been this relaxed in a very long time. After a month in Spain, this was the absolute favorite part of our travels. The tower is extremely comfortable. Windows facing in the four cardinal directions for dramatic views of the surrounding valley and mountains. The original defensive arrow slits on each of the four floors allow for incredibly unique vistas. Driving here was simple. There is an easy and close parking spot for you. We had a GPS which helped but any regular map can get you here. Madrid & Barcelona are an easy drive away. About the tower: The master bedroom is more than comfortable. I haven't slept this well is months. The windows are well-insulated for sound and weather. The second, twin bedroom is on the top floor and is gorgeous. Each of the two bedrooms has its own toilet/shower with great water pressure! There is a toilet on the ground floor, too. There is a washer/dryer and a dishwasher. There is a flat screen television, a stereo, and a Spanish DVD library. Internet is functional. The tower is 4 stories tall so be prepared to get your legs moving. There is no elevator. This just means you've earned that next glass(es) of wine and wedge(s) of cheese! The kitchen is extremely well-appointed and, as a professional chef, I found it to be more than sufficient. There are a few markets in Broto, 1 km away (beautiful walk or quick drive). It's the essence of Spain: gorgeous, full of life, passion, and love. Do yourself a favor, really. The hiking and outdoor sports opportunities are endless! Oto/Broto has something for everyone: outdoor fun or just relaxing in the tower with a glass of wine & a book. We hope you enjoy this peaceful, heart warming home as much as we did.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

Oto and the tower are still my 10 year old daughter's favorite place in all of Europe. It's a beautiful building, in a great town and close to some of the most amazing nature. It's been 6 months since we left and I still hear almost daily about Oto and the tower. Elena and her family have done a great job and made us feel right at home immediately. Can't wait to come visit again!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

Although the newspapers are filled every day with the dire news of the Spanish economy tanking and widespread social misery throughout the country, you would never know it spending a week in this magnificent tower in a small mountain village in the Aragonese Pyrenees. The tower is marvelously restored and you almost don't want to leave it to go out hiking in the stupendous countryside or for a meal at one of the many interesting and excellent local restaurants. Elena and Jose Maria have thought of every little thing to make you comfortable and are on call for anything else you can think of. We loved our week here and would recommend it to anyone interested in a peaceful truly local experience..Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We stayed at the Tower in Oto for four nights in late September and could not have been more pleased. It is a charming building with all of the comforts of home, but with such amazing historic charm. Elena has thought of everything to make the stay comfortable -- laundry machines, a DVD collection, tea and coffee, etc. We felt right at home. And Oto is a wonderful base for exploring the Ordesa valley and Ordesa National Park. There are lots of wonderful hikes nearby and the scenery is breathtaking. It is truly rural experience -- complete with charming cows right outside your windows! What a great way to unwind. We got engaged during our stay at the Tower and it will always hold a special place in our hearts!Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

We stayed at the Tower for 2 nights. The place is amazing from top to bottom!! Our beds were comfortable and it was relaxing to fall asleep to the sound of jingling cowbells. Elena & Jose Maria were so friendly and kind. We were thankful for their hospitality. Only thing now is we want to go again!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing.

Sometimes there is just something you need in your life, and we didn't realise it till we arrived, but it was this place. Absolutely magic place, the whole area is gorgeous, but in particular, this Defence tower...it has been immaculately restored, and turned into a place you will not want to leave. EVERY detail inside is tastefull and clean. Your hosts, very friendly and on hand if needed, the little village of Oto....lovely. We have stayed in many 'historic' towns and within many castle walls, but this place has been the pick of them all. The saddest part was leaving......Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

Cathy and I travel extensively and this year we spent two months in Spain, staying in hotels, bed and breakfasts, paradors and apartments. La Torre de Oto was the absolute highlight of the trip. Situated in a beautiful natural setting, the tower is amazing. As Cathy and I were driving into the valley, we spied a tower in the distance and joked "that's where we'll be staying tonight" -- and, in fact, it was! The tower, which has been in the family for well over 100 years, has been immaculately renovated, with beautiful rooms on four floors. The kitchen (first floor) is spacious and well equipped, and a bathroom is around the corner; the living room (second floor) is huge, with stereo and satellite TV; the master bedroom (third floor) is beautiful, with en suite bathroom; and the second bedroom (fourth floor) has incredible views and a third bathroom. When you stay in the tower and turn on the stereo, with classical music and Gregorian chants, you are transported into another time and world. How many places have you stayed where the bathrooms have arrow slits for defensive purposes? This is truly a remarkable and unique holiday experience and should not be missed. For those of you who are hikers, there are great hiking opportunities in the nearby mountains and national park. But for those of you who love the romance of another time, just settle into this place, turn on the music, have a glass of wine, and enjoy your good fortune -- because this place is the place for you.
