The close proximity of both town and nature, combined with the exceptional attributes of the house and the very fair price, make our home an unbeatable choice for those who love Sun Valley. Sun Valley visitors are nature lovers who crave space, sunshine, views, privacy, dark night skies and room for the dog to roam. They like to be free of commute traffic, congestion and other complexities they're trying to leave behind in cities, and to be close to the river, convenient to hiking, biking and fishing, the incomparable downhill ski facilities, and the world-class cross-country skiing.
Then, they like their accommodations to be NICE - tastefully decorated, fresh, uncluttered, exceptionally clean, fully-equipped, spacious and airy but likewise cozy and homey, and with a bathroom for every bedroom, a hottub, an extra living room with extra audio-visual... and of course a big granite kitchen open to everything. Oh, and they like it to be fairly priced.
Well, that's this house... four doors from Governor Schwarzenegger and about a mile from Senator and Theresa Kerry in one of Sun Valley's most desirable and lightly populated NORTH valleys, just two miles from central Ketchum, an easy tra la la on a bike into town for dinner, concert, craft fair, etc. By car it's a quick five minutes to those activities or to park by the lifts in winter. Compare this property to all those agent-represented deals - we understand that you are looking for value!
This 4 bedroom, 4 bath 4,100-sf-house is owned by the retired founder of SV's largest property management company. It is set up optimally for visitors, offering everything that a vacationer wants to find in a rental property - at the right price and in the right location....
A big attraction is the sleeping arrangements and quality beds. Four bedrooms, each with their own bath (and each bedroom in its own wing), two living rooms plus a library/den/office with roomy desk, four TVs, including a 55' LED backlit LCD surround sound system (with DVR!) in the main living room, wifi throughout the house, garage, decks, private hottub, playhouse, gas BBQ, beautiful Restoration Hardware dining room on the east end of the great room.... from the moment you arrive you'll be saying this is just what you were hoping for!
Because Lake Creek flows next to the property, much of the nearby land is remains open, natural, green (or white) and inviting. Beds are K,TT(K),TT(K),Q + sofa sleeper in 2nd living room. All the beds are near-new and all are pillowtops. The top floor master is almost 1,000 square feet, with private view deck, one of those lavish marble bathrooms, and indoor corner jettub, plus huge walk-in closet/dressing room.
You won't find this home cluttered with personal stuff. The cabinets and closets are empty and ready for your use! The decorating features art quilts, live plants, wood and color; the emphasis is on home-style comfort from which to enjoy the incomparable outdoor environment.
The Lake Creek Trailhead, Sun Valley's best mountain biking, hiking, and fishing area, is just down the street. Take the dog for a swim in the river while you cast for catch-and-release whoppers. And in winter the same trailhead begins the pristine grooming of the North Valley Trails for classic and skate skiing. Just five miles up the highway is where the famous Boulder Mountain Trail, with the same amazing grooming, heads north for 30k - doggie trails too! Downhill skiing is in the other direction, just two miles to access either River Run or Warm Springs at Baldy or to park at Dollar Mountain, the absolute beginner area adjacent to SV proper.
WATCH OUT FOR AGENT-REPRESENTED PROPERTIES! You will pay much more for what you get. Be especially aware of location factors. Anything south of Ketchum is in the commute traffic! If our's isn't the right property for you, ask us for guidance or ideas.

We got to the house, and every time we turned around, there was another "OH, WOW" moment. We couldn't believe how beautiful, well appointed and comfortable this home is. Book it now!! you will not be disappointed. This is a beautiful home, furnished just perfectly for vacation renters, and the owners went out of their way to make us, welcome. The bedrooms are set up so there is complete privacy, with locations at opposite ends of the house, on both the first and second floors. The second bedroom on the lower level is perfect for parents with younger kids as it is a suite with a seperate sitting room. The living/family/dining rooms are accessable, yet far enough away from the bedrooms so the normal conversation is not a problem. The TVs are amazing, the fireplace is even better, and wait until you see the master bedroom - it defies description - beautiful, functional, comfortable, private and huge will have to do for now. The home has a 3-car heated garage, a very accessible hot tub with great views and a full laundry room. The kitchen is something any homeowner would dream about - huge refrig, great stove fully furnished with more plates, glasses, wine glasses, pots, pans, openers and all the kitchen doo-dads you have at home, and need - even plastic containers for the leftovers. The home is incredible - the owners obviously care for the home, they are respectful and very easy to work with. We forgot something, and they very quicly found it and shipped it back to us, no muss no fuss, allowing us to pay them back after they sent it. It is about 2 miles north of town, and requires a car for town or skiing, but well worth it. You really can see the neighborhood from Baldy (Sun Valley). Book this home now - you will not regret it, and will be amazed.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children.

I stayed at the Gyurkey house for 6 fabulous days. I traveled from NJ to meet my brother, his wife, and some of his friends for the "trailing of the sheep" festivities. There were 6 adults and a few border collies who enjoyed all the amenities of this wonderful home. We felt as if we were staying at a friends house rather than a rental property. The home is spacious and yet warm and inviting. We were within a 15 minute drive to most fine dining but found the house so restful that we cooked in frequently. After dinner we alternated between cards or lounging by the fire and watching a ball game. The Ketchum grill was a favorite dinner spot and The Kneadery was a favorite for breakfast. The home is in the perfect locale for anyone loving outdoor activities. We spent our days hiking and participating in the dog trials. I almost hesitate to say too many good things about the home and its hosts because i would love to keep it as "my little secret" but I suppose that would not be fair. If you are visiting this area of the country this home is your perfect retreat. Idaho and the Gyurkey home will always remain a favorite on my vacation list. Thanks Kathy and Nick.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, families with young children.
Owner response: I thank Joanne for the kind words and "sacrifice" of her own little secret.... I do want to clarify, though, that "several" dogs - even border collies! - are not a normal occupancy at our place. Our place is not a "dog-ey house." In fact, normally we would not accept multiple dogs. What Joanne didn't say was that the dogs did NOT in fact "enjoy all the amenities" of our home because two of the three were never brought into the house. I think she meant that the dogs really enjoyed the yard and the location. To clarify our pet policy: good doggies are welcome with three conditions: that they are not allowed up on the beds or upholstered furniture, that they are never left alone in the house, and that the guest takes full responsibility for any extra cleaning or repair resulting from the doggie's visit. Our policy has worked well: except for once when someone, without consultation, brought THREE dogs and then left them alone in the house, we have NEVER had even a trace of dog damage. Joanne's visit was typical of our experience: she left the house immaculate. So, yes we welcome doggies, case by case, but not several dogs - and guests will not be able to tell they were there.

My Husband and I spent 5 fabulous days at this beautiful property. It was a real luxury experience! The house is spacious and very clean, comfortable beds, beautiful bathrooms, great views, romantic fireplace and outdoor hot tub, large kitchen with everything you might need...it was absolutely perfect and exceeded our expectations! Better than the photos on line! This home is located in a great area, just a short drive to the downtown and the ski valley but also private and very peaceful. Best location in town! The view from the master bedroom is amazing and if you are lucky enough, you will wake up looking at a herd of elk milling around the spacious yard. An amazing experience! The owners, Kathy and Nick are beautiful people and incredible hosts, they made our trip to Sun Valley unforgettable. Thank you so much for everything! Owner response: The house's karma must be pretty good, because we always seem to get wonderful guests, too - like you! I mean, shoveling 18 inches of new snow from BOTH decks, leaving the house looking like it did when you walked in - and those wonderful goodies from Christina's, just because.... What more could we ask for from the vrbo universe? It's people like you who make the system work so well! Please come back! Or we'll come there!

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful Sun Valley home. We had alot of our family with us and our two poodles and there was plenty of room for all. The kitchen was wonderful to cook on the nights we didn't go out. Some of us skied, sled, and just played around. I will tell everyone I know what a great time you can have in this home. This beautiful home should be considered by all who want to enjoy what Sun Valley Id has to offer.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks for your kind words, Peggy. I had been sort of reluctant to inquire if you'd had a good time, knowing how (by our standards) dreadful the weather had been while you were in town. I guess it's a compliment for the house when our guests can be content with less-than-ideal weather. We do hope you come back when the sun will welcome you.

This is a great property. We had never gone through VRBO but the experience was wonderful. The on line description is accurate. This home is beautiful, ample room, and allows privacy for everyone staying. The location just north of town is perfect and avoids any of the traffic (though light). The house is about 5 minute ride to Warm Springs and just a bit longer to River Run and also very close to Dollar Mountain and just about anything else. Six of us, all adults, stayed there. The house was in perfect condition. The owners are amazingly helpful. We have stayed at over 10 properties at Sun Valley over the years and this is this one is exceptional!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing.
Owner response: So glad you enjoyed yourselves and the place, Jonathan. And, if there were reviews for guests, we would also award YOU five stars!

We enjoyed a 6 person family reunion and found most everything exceeded our expectations. The owners are fastidiously attentive to every detail from the initial inquiry you make to the time of your departure. Everything is well maintained, thoroughly clean and easily accessible. In particular we enjoyed the views from the decks, the easy access to Ketchum/Sun Valley and the absolutely perfect weather. Few places we've stayed for previous reunions can match and NONE exceed this beautiful home. We recommend it with much enthusiasm and without reservation.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway.

Our family spent a delicious and very comfortable Thanksgiving in this home. The beds are divine and with a good night sleep, everyone was in a great mood, appreciating the location of this home, the coziness and the ease of preparing meals (night after night). Great kitchen counter space and well equipped kitchen for family meals. Even with just one oven, we accomplished a full Thanksgiving feast. The owners are very friendly, accomodating and a pleasure to work with.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2000
About the owner: We are active seniors (66 and 82), just the two of us at this point. One son lives locally and helps look after our place when we are elsewhere. We are big skate skiers and actually pretty much abandoned gravity-based skiing for the self-propelled variety, considering the wealth of groomed trails in the wilderness. We mountain bike and road bike, utilizing the very extensive bike trail and roads in all directions. Nick has a membership at SV Golf and loves the new White Clouds course which actually occupies the uplands between our home and SV Village. Hiking is a regular thing for Kathy, pretty much all-season; the environment seems custom-made for snow-shoeing, as the pyramidical mountains are like being on the most scenic of all possible stairmasters. And the weather, of course....
Why the Owner Chose Sun Valley:
...we are not the only ones who say that the Sun Valley climate is just about perfect. There are said to be 300 days per year of sunshine. Nothing is ever extreme, nights are cool (AC rarely needed), and every morning in summer gives you a taste of springtime before warming to lusher temps. So it's the weather, to start. But then there's the uniqueness of the 'resort.' SV is like no other resort because, fundamentally, the place is not owned by a corporation; it's owned by a family-owned oil company (Sinclair), and profits do not have to be distributed, or even reported. So the company invests in grand facilities and answers to no one, presumably just treating it all like a tax haven. Well, the upshot is we have beautiful, exceptional facilities but the place isn't set up like an arcade, just for raking in money. It's done for taste and style and experience, not for bottom lines. Does that explain anything? SV has everything you want, but doesn't have so much of what you don't want - like malls and fast food joints and strip development. The valley is very small (only a half-mile or so across where Ketchum sits), so there's no room for sprawl. This makes it expensive, no doubt about that, but the removal from commercialism is quite rewarding.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our house is in what many say is the best location in the valley. First, you don't have any commute traffic influencing the roads. Then, it's CLOSE to Ketchum/SV, so easy to access the attractions of town and ALSO just go down the street to swim or fish in the river or to hike or trail jog or mountain bike in all different directions, or drive northward to the wilderness areas, skate skiing, lakes and epic mountain outings in four separate and distinct mountain ranges, ... But, with that proximity, the setting is all mountains and open spaces. Lake Creek valley is very sparsely inhabited, owing to estate-style development. The neighborhood is pretty splendid - the governator chose it for a reason. We hike/jog right out our door. Dogs are blissful here as they get the freedom not found in 'fenced yards,' without much of a car factor. Wildlife ambles through, especially while we are doing twilight hottubs. After dark, remarkably, it's pretty much a dark sky, and all the constellations are displayed as you never see them in cities. As for the house, it's always so comfortable to have guests because their bedrooms are totally private. The house is easy to keep cool in summer. Some features we enjoy are the big, multi-cook kitchen, my mother's wonderful art quilts and Nick's father's original artwork, the stylish Bhutan area rugs, the expandable Restoration-hardware dining settup - or outdoor dining on the deck, the roomy office/library - or wifi where you like, the excellent audio-visual arrangements for catching all the essential sports events, the very separate guest suite where kids like to hang out away from the adults, the spectacularly comfortable beds which at 'our age' are crucial, the fact that we can have enough twin beds for most group configurations, or they can be kings, the light comforters that are good summer or winter, the airy entryway for leaving transitional footwear and garments, the spacious and connected three-car garage...
