Mountaintop Log Cabin Getaway with Breathtaking Views

Welcome to Eagles Nest at High Falls. This cabin is a 10-year dream for my husband and myself. This 'new' cabin is perfectly appointed. It was originally built in New Market, Alabama in 1836 and has been carefully moved and rebuilt on its present site high atop the mountain overlooking the Tennessee Valley Divide and Town creek. You will feel like you are a million miles away from everything but are only a 30 minute drive to many great restaurants and great shopping in downtown Guntersville. You are also only 20 minutes to Guntersville State Park with its hiking, fishing and swimming just to name a few of its amenities. Drive 30 minutes in the other direction and you can choose to visit Buck's Pocket State Park or High Falls Park, where for those with a great sense of adventure, (or a lack of better judgment), can jump off of the 40 foot Falls into to swimming hole below. The cabin itself boasts 8' to 12' wide hand hewn poplar logs, the original pine and poplar floors have been refinished while maintaining as much of the original character and patina as possible. The home is furnished with many period appropriate antiques and a King size bed made from reclaimed barn wood from the 1800's. A study complete with a desk and an incredible view of the gorge below is just off the master bedroom and would make a perfect spot for pastors seeking a time of prayer and retreat and sermon planning. The plush sofa and chairs in the family room make relaxing easy. The rocking chairs on the front porch offer a place to sit and watch the sunset over the mountains around you while listening to the sound of the water running over the two waterfalls on either side of the almost 10 acres atop the mountain. During the winter months Bald Eagles nest along the bluff and can be seen soaring along the rim of the bluff and you will have a front row seat. Eagles Nest at High Falls is the perfect spot for just one and would be an ideal place for a couple’s getaway too, but it will sleep up to 4 people. Please keep that in mind for any prayer and “rest” retreats that you or any of your friends church leaders might need. We do offer Gift Certificates! Quote from a recent visitor to Eagles Nest at High Falls' who needs to go to Gatlinburg when you have a place this amazing right in your own back yard!' Summer and Fall dates are filling up fast! Hurry and make your getaway plans soon! Check out our calendar link to see if one of our open dates would be perfect for you. •••••Tell your husband to whisk you away on a romantic retreat to the mountains. ••••

The pictures cannot do this place justice. Absolutely spectacular views and the cabin itself is unlike anything I have ever seen. We have rented a number of cabins all over the Georgia high country, and this beats them all. A true old style rustic cabin with all the necessary modern amenities! No cell phone or internet was a blessing...truly able to disconnect, unwind and enjoy being together as a family.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

My fiancee and I went up for a birthday getaway. We were worried when we saw the dirt drive but that all went away when we saw the amazing cabin. From now on, anytime I hear someone say, I want to get away where there are no cell phones and just relax - this is absolutely the place to go. Hearing the water rushing below and absolutely no one around to disturb us at all. Absolutely amazing place. I highly recommend!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This cabin was the best place to spend a relaxing Christmas with my family. The owner's had the cabin decorated for the holidays, and with the lights, candles, and fireplaces it was beautiful. The cabin is so well furnished and so clean. The minute we walked in we knew we would enjoy our time together here. The hot tub was a favorite, and there is nothing like spending Christmas Eve outside in the hot tub despite the cool damp temperature. There were many touches that made this cabin a perfect place to stay and spend some quality time with those you love. Great kitchen for cooking with everything you need. Two porches, a firepit, and the views are breathtaking--what more do you need? I have already told friends about the Eagle's Nest, and if you are looking for a place to slow down and enjoy some peace and quiet--this is where you need to be.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Being business owners we were a little anxious about not having WI-FI or cell service. By Saturday we were enjoying the disconnection and relaxation of the cabin. My husband was a little overwhelmed with the number of pages of instruction. We did read and reread to make sure everything was left perfect. We enjoyed the quiet and calm of the surrounding area, even spoke of memories of grandparents and the day gone by, the cabin reminded us of.Recommended for: Age 55+.
Owner response: I am so glad you guys got a chance to get away and relax for a while. The cabin being so isolated and without internet and the sometimes spotty cell service is the very reason why we send so many different documents to our guests with the check in information. We know that once you get to the cabin you may not be able to get a hold of us to ask how to operate the hot tub or where some things in the cabin might be located, the things that we furnish and the items we suggest you bring or even to find out what day the trash runs. So we tried to think of everything that you might need to know while you are on your getaway and send it all to you ahead of time so that you don't run into any issues that could lead to you having anything less that a perfect vacation. Thanks so much for your visit and I do hope you guys will come back soon!

This place is an exceptional Southern discovery. We found a special place to stay and enjoy mountain scenery without having to travel very far. We could hear the water flowing over the rocks in the creek at the foot of the mountain. The cabin is beautifully restored and its warmth embraced us with peace and quiet. Outstanding views can be enjoyed from each window in the cabin. We were able to enjoy a glimpse of life from the past while having the conveniences that we enjoy, today. Thanks, again, for such a lovely stay. We wish that we could have stayed longer and we look forward to another visit.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We could not be any happier with our stay at the cabin. Any stresses we showed up with literally vanished. We've been trying to express to people just how special Eagle's Nest at High Falls is...and there's no way to do it. It's not only the care that's been put into making it lovely inside and out...and Karen REALLY has done that...it's furnished like something out of Southern Living Magazine...and stocked with anything you could need...but, the setting...the tranquility...the views...the sounds of the river and birds...the calm...the feeling that you have nothing to do but relax and be with your loved one...or just yourself...that's the prize. Karen...we have every intention of returning again, and have told and will continue to tell, everyone we know of your sweet home. Our only worry is that you'll end up retiring there one day and it won't be available to us year after year...tee hee. Thanks so much for a wonderful place to relax and celebrate our love.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

as o thers have stated the pictures do not do justice at the cabin. we leased for 2 nights and had our menu ready as we did not want to leave. it was absolutely wonderful. we have AT&T cell service and here we had no service. we just went up the road and left messages to call Karen for a emergency. there is a line phone too. We had some rough weather the last night and Karen took the time to call and check up on us and even had suggestions if we needed them for safety. :). I will beyond a shadow of doubt be coming back. p.s there are binoclulars above TV. we were able to see a few Eagles too :). Loved our stay ............Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Eagles Nest at High Falls Welcome Guests We are so glad that you have chosen to spend your vacation with us. This home is very special to us and has a very special place in history because of its age. Please be respectful of that and ask all in your group to also treat this home with the care of you would a treasured antique. We wanted to remind you and your group of some of the House Rules. 1. There is No Smoking in the house or the screened in porch, please. We advertise this house as smoke free. You will forfeit your $150 damage deposit if you smoke in the house or on the screened in porch. 2. There are some candles in the house which we would love for you to enjoy, however, please be extremely careful with the candles, lanterns or lighted stones. Keep in mind that this cabin is almost 200 years and one careless spark could catch fire very quickly. 3. Please, No Pets. This agreement is in your lease form. 4. Please, No House Parties. Parties attract acquaintances that you may not be very familiar with. The guests that signed the lease form are completely responsible for any and all damage, whether done by them or their guests. This is agreed in your lease form. Having to be responsible for others is a very difficult situation. 5. There should be no more than 4 Guests staying in the home. Owner approval is required for any variance from this maximum number. If we find that the maximum number of occupants has exceeded 4 persons, without prior approval, at any time during your stay, you will forfeit your $150 security deposit. 6. Please do not leave any dirty dishes in the sink. Excessive cleaning fees are charged only if the house is left exceptionally dirty. It may be a few days before our cleaning crew is able to get up the mountain to clean when you leave and we do not to invite any “unwanted guests” into the cabin after leftover food. We appreciate your help. 7. If you use the hot tub while at Eagles Nest, please put ¾ of a TBSP of the non-chlorinating granules in after each use. These are located in the wooden box on the front porch along with the Fire Pots and bio fuel that you may take out and use next to the hot tub for heat and light. Please return the Fire Pots to the box after each use so that they do not fill with water between uses. 8. We try to make sure that our grill is operational and clean but do not guarantee this. There is a propane tank at the cabin, we do try to make sure that it remains full but do not guarantee this as each group is responsible for replacing the tank if they use the end of it. In the event you find it empty, please exchange the tank. The Chevron at the HWY 227 turn from 431 in Guntersville has tank exchange. PLEASE, do not take the tank with you when you leave, or you will be charged an additional $60.00 for the replacement of the tank. Please check grill prior to lighting to see if the grill area needs to be cleaned, there are grill brushes under the grill. PLEASE make sure that the grill is always out from under the porch before using. NEVER operate any of on the porch or against the house. Should a grill catch fire, IMMEDIATELY turn the knobs to the OFF position. There is a fire extinguisher under the grill and also under sink in the kitchen. 9. We do have a monitored security system mainly for the monitored fire protection. It is however tied into the burglar protection also so if the alarm is tripped for any reason the dispatch center may send the police out. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO ARM THE SYSTEM! •The doors will chime when opened, if you wish to turn this feature off, press 7 then 1. You will see a message that says either CHIME ON or CHIME OFF. •In the event of a power failure, the system will sound a series of chirps to let you know it is on battery back up, press STATUS and hold for just a second and this should stop the chirping. If the system continues to make noise or if you have any other issue with it, PLEASE CALL ME or text me at 256-658-3244 or call 256-533-3244. •••AGAIN, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INPUT INFO OR ARM OR DISARM THE ALARM SYSTEM. You will be charged the fine for a FALSE ALARM if the police are dispatched because you trip the alarm.•••
