Chapel Hill lodge description
Our guests are awed by the beautiful Lodge on Pickard's Mountain. We host wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, reunions, business retreats, basketball and football getaways and a host of other truly special events. The Lodge is available for a minimum of three nights with full access to the property or for daily rentals for corporate meetings/events.
Fabulous stone fireplaces in the great room with huge glass doors lead to private walkways throughout the property. Cross the bridge to the Saltwater pool, relax on the slate patios or on your private balcony. Our guests enjoy coffee or a cocktail while they watch the sun rise or set. Or you can curl up with a book in a private area on the property.
A private, detached guest wing houses two bedrooms, both with queen beds and private bathrooms. The master has a king bed, private bath (with soaking tub), private balcony and a spiral staircase leading to the outdoor patio and pool.
The master is adjacent to the fourth bedroom which has two twin beds, a private bath and staircase leading to the fourth level reading nook and ladder to the turret. Bedroom five and six are in a private wing of the Lodge and have queen beds and private baths.
The commercial grade kitchen has double dishwashers and ovens, Sub Zero refrigerator and freezer, three sinks and expansive Italian Marble counter tops. Our on site Property Manager can arrange grocery delivery, catering and full event planning as well as transportation, local farm visits and reservations at world class restaurants.
The amazing underground cave offers a fireplace, wet bar, home theater, pool table, wine cellar and exercise room and can host your entire party plus other guests in a very special space. Head up to the 4th level turret at sunset for a cocktail while enjoying the 360 degree view.

We loved The Lodge, but wish we had more time to spend there! We were there with all of our extended family for a 'destination' wedding so we were so busy with all of the wedding events that we were unable to really enjoy all the wonderful features of this home. It is a great retreat for large families. With the gorgeous, refreshing pool, and beautiful surroundings our family would have loved to just come stay and never leave! The only downfalls are the many steps if there are elderly in your party and the amount of insects for the not-so-nature-loving.

A Wonderful Trip!
A Wonderful Trip!
From the moment we contacted Anne about the possibility of renting the Lodge at Pickard Mountain everything was perfect. The rental process went smoothly with all questions answered. The architecture and finishings in the lodge are all custom and high-end. One of our guests has been a contractor for decades and walked around in awe of the construction. He explained that the fireplace with its massive stones would have had to have been built first, with the house being built around it. Anne couldn't have been more accommodating. We made a special request, offering to pay for it. Anne said yes to our request but did not accept extra payment for it. Later, when we realized that the house was not going to be rented the day before our stay, we asked Anne if we could drop some supplies off the day before. She not only allowed that, she went beyond. Upon our arrival, local gourmet treats and a wonderful bottle of champagne awaited us. The lodge was such a lovely place to visit when our family visited. We highly recommend it!

A piece of art work and tranquility

Breathtaking and amazing! Our family rented the home for a vacation, leading up to a wedding with 80 of our closest friends and family. This home easily accomodated everyone for the wedding. The home is a piece of art. Everything about this home is custom and high end. The attention to every detail of construction of this home shows. The gourmet kitchen rivals any I have used before. The commercial grade equipment makes serving large families (and a wedding) a breeze and fun! The pool was a big hit with the kids, and adults. The home theater and audio throughout the house was fun. The entire property is well maintained and will provide an amazing experience. One of the owners, Ann, was extremely pleasant and made sure our stay went well. That makes all the difference to help make a stay anywhere exceptional. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to relax, entertain, and generally have a great time!

This place is amazing! The rock fire place in the family room is one-of-a-kind. The pool was the biggest hit - huge and well-maintained. The secluded location of the house provided ultimate privacy. We had way more room than we needed (8 adults and 3 children), but enjoyed having the excess space. The house is well maintained. Although the home did not initially have a high chair and a pack-and-play, the owners immediately bought new ones for us upon our arrival. We will remember our holiday week for years to come.

Retreat to nature for your next event
Retreat to nature for your next event
Pickard's Mountain Lodge is an exceptionally beautiful and breathtaking piece of construction. The stonework alone represents an engineering marvel and the huge windows and scent of cedar wood contribute to the enjoyment of being surrounded by nature. The family and friends who gathered to celebrate a UNC graduation and to attend a pig roast expressed delight with the facility -- especially the grotto-like pool, the kitchen, the landscaping and the "man cave." We all appreciated the secluded location, the evening sounds (and visits) of frogs, the rooftop views, the stars, and the total atmosphere of relaxation away from everyday hustle-bustle. We appreciate the owners orientation towards alternative (green) energy sources, commitment to recycling, growing and donating vegetables and meticulous maintenance of the property. It seems to be not just a place -- but a philosophy. Hosts, Tom, Anne and Galen, were attentive to every need and shared some of the local lore concerning the property. (It does appear that the owners are still involved in furnishing the lodge, as some of the furniture seen in the listing photos are no longer on the premises -- but, happily, Tom made a special trip out to deliver personally some pans large enough to cook breakfast for 22 people! Most appreciated!) I would enthusiastically recommend Pickard's Mountain Lodge -- designed as it is to accommodate and absorb a good sized crowd -- and hope to return next year to host the annual pig roast once again at this location. A five star experience -- no question!

Family & Friends celebrating UNC Graduation
Family & Friends celebrating UNC Graduation
My daughter graduated from UNC & I was lucky enough to discover The Lodge at Pickards Mountain. I gathered family & friends at The Lodge to both celebrate her graduation & to enjoy a family reunion. It was perfect! She & her friends had a fabulous party after their graduation. We hosted a cookout on the beautiful patio & then they enjoyed the pool, the theatre room, the pool table, the massive fireplaces - everything! They had no desire to leave & drive anywhere - which made me happy! And there was room for all of her friendsto spend the night - from the tower room to the bunk room. The family (older generation) enjoyed the beautiful gardens, the landscaping, the pool, stargazing & just relaxing & visiting. And we had plenty of beds for all. We walked the trails, looked at the beautiful vegetable garden & just had fun hanging out outside or in - whatever suited us. I especially loved the morning solitude & the amazing night sounds of nature. Tom, Anne & Galen are gracious hosts. They thought of everything. The house is comfortable & well appointed. The craftsmanship & artisitc design are truly breathtaking. My family & my daughter's friends are still talking about how cool everything about the weekend was. I wholeheartedly recommend The Lodge at Pickard's Mountain. I am already daydreaming about my next visit!
