We survived Katrina, no floods, minor damage. We are blessed and thankful...Our thoughts still go the the victims of this disaster. Come and visit our great city, we are already rebuilding it. We simply have to. New Orleans is doing good thanks to its people and their legendary " Joie de vivre"!
Historic Creole Cottage, built 1807 for a wealthy free woman of colour, Dame Laporte. It is the oldest house in the legendary "Faubourg Marigny ", located two blocks from the French Quarter, also two blocks from Frenchmen street where locals go to listen to the best jazz in town, great restaurants, bookstores and many more attractions.
Private yard and porch. Fully furnished. Two bedrooms, double parlor, updated kitchen, and one bathroom with jacuzzi. I grew up between France and the USA. What a better place to be than Louisiana?
Why the Owner Chose New Orleans
New-Orleans is wonderful and a unique place for its history.
The French Quarter & Bourbon Street can be a lot of fun, no one there thinks moderation is a virtue! But would you really like to stay there?
We much prefer the authentic "Faubourg Marigny", this is the real New-Orleans. We learn from the past but do not live in the past, though we are dedicated preservasionists.
We also support our great local activists who live in our neighborhood.
They are foremost concerned about the rebuilding of our city, wetland issues, global warming, sustainnable development and how to create a clean, green & better city for next generations.
The Unique Benefits of this House
The house stands in the middle of a friendly, progressive, artsy, quiet, family oriented and safe neighborhood. It is also close to the best attractions in town.
Thanks to the lush front yard, its tropical plants, the cottage is also a nice secluded retreat providing complete privacy and a comforting sense of peace with its own "mystique".
