  My husband and I have stayed in many accommodations in the US and British VI, and Island Dream is far and away the most romantic, picture-perfect location we've found. The Caribbean colors inside and out, the light and airy rooms, actual artwork on the walls, the many decks, the lush landscaping, all made for a totally relaxing stay in a beautiful environment. The house and grounds were impeccably maintained, and the views were fabulous from sunup to sundown. The stars at night were amazing - we even saw some shooting stars! Loved the isolation and quiet. And if you just can't unplug, there's even a great, fast Wifi connection. 5 stars & 2 thumbs up!

  Because if its reasonable price, we didn't expect such perfection. Island Dream is in a "dream" location on a hill overlooking the sea. The setting is gorgeous surrounded by beautiful flowering trees, bushes and tropical flowers. The view from the dining room deck, outside decks and bedroom decks are all spectacular. We ate all our meals on the deck. The pool is lovely just outside the house. The house is well supplied with everything you might need. The bed was comfortable and the management competent and helpful. We couldn't have been happier. We swam, played tennis, snorkeled, visited the sites on the island and generally relaxed. It was a real vacation. We will definitely come back to Island Dream. It is a magical house designed by a prominent architect who also designed other much larger homes -- some even for movie stars. The house is unique. It is filled with beautiful paintings, extensive library and has a lovely peaceful feeling to it. It is also very quiet. We only heard the sound of birds, the wind rustling through the trees and the sea. The new private park across the street offers wonderful wandering paths and is a lovely way to get to the restaurant, tennis courts and beaches.

  We loved our stay at beautiful Island Dream. The view is amazing, the planting of tropical palm and fruit trees and flowers beautiful and the deck partly within the brush like an almost hidden surprise. The rooms are light and airy; they seem to expand into their decks. The house was supplied with many more helpful kitchenware than we are used to expecting from other rentals. The pool is very accessible and a joy. We found the dirt road quite manageable and often saw a white egret sitting in the same place on it every day. We also loved the privacy of the location. Someone told us that a professional house-rater said that this house had the best art in the area. We found the art quite lovely and original. Island Dream was definitely a gem! .The only downside is that vacations are never long enough.Next time we will stay longer!! .

  This was our 1st stay on Virgin Gorda after going to Tortola for the past 11 years. The trip went without a hitch as we took the 5PM ferry direct to VG from CA, got right in line for BVI customs and we were through in a matter of minutes. Howard was right there to meet us as promised as was Ray from Island Style Jeep Rental. Signed for the car and off following Howard to Island Dream. VERY easy to get to and only about 10 - 15 minutes from the ferry dock. Howard had provisioned as we had discussed via e-mal, showed us around the house and left us to enjoy the solitude. As described, there isn't any home in front of or around Island Dream. You can see the satelite dish of the big house down on the beach and Baraka Point far off to the left but nothing close. I'm glad that I'm well used to driving the roads on Tortola because the dirt road, Jasmine Street, is very rough and you need to use 1st gear or 4 wheel drive to get in and out. In all honesty the online pictures don't give a true perspective of the size of the rooms as they're smaller than the picture portrays. HOWEVER, this home is just right for us, very workable and cozy, and the pool is awesome! We spent every morning on the covered front porch having coffee and the small breakfast I made. The breeze was incredible and the view stunning! After the coffee it was pool time where we stayed almost everyday until we forced ourself into the jeep to go have a late lunch or just drive around exploring. We felt VERY secure in Island Dream and slept very well in the nicly cooled bedroom with a/c. Howard called a couple of times to check in on us, we met the gardener Kelwin who was a joy to talk with and Elise the housekeeper was very nice as well. We thought we'd need/want housekeeping more than the 3X offered but actually told Howard to forget the 3rd visit as this little home is so easy to keep orderly. The ONLY somewhat negative in staying here was that on the 1st Saturday, workmen came and started to clear underbrush in the lot to the front of Island Dream. This went on until our stay ended but never lasted much past about 2PM or so. Even then it wasn't terrible but we had been spoiled by the total quiet of our 1st few days. Sugarcane at Nail Bay is a MUST for dinner as we ate there four nights it was SO good! Hog Heaven is also a must as the view is incredible, food awesome especially the conch in butter sauce. Titus is a great barkeep. Very good eats at The Rock & Mermaid.

  Owner response: Since this is about the only review that has not give Island Dream a perfect score I am responding to its few minor complaints. First: Our short road is a dirt road; the owner of the Resort has promised to have it paved but the dates for doing so have changed. I tell people to rent cars with 4 wheel drive – not just for our road but to drive safely on the island. As for the noise from a lot being cleared across the street: if we have foreknowledge of any probable on-going ,disturbing noise, such as any construction within hearing distance, we would notify would-be renters beforehand and compensate them in some way. Construction is limited to certain hours and days in our area. We had no idea that a lot across the street was going to be cleared. (the upside is it might make walking to one beach very fast!). As for the room size, we do not try to mislead people. The bedrooms are 14 by 14 feet – to give you an idea of the actual size. The bedrooms as well as the living room area are enlarged by being attached to decks which are designed to look and feel like extensions of the room and reminders that island life is inside-outside with the distinctions between them blurred. Please read the other reviews. Most of our guests dearly love Island Dream and everything about it; they often return. We are very open to feedback , especially about what we can control. We want everyone’s stay to feel perfect!

  July 19-29 2011 Beautiful home Beautiful island. The views from anywhere in/around the house were perfect. I loved awakening to the view of the silvery water, sitting on the lanai w coffee, listening to the surf and watching the boats sail by. I so much loved being at the house that we didn’t spend extended time away. We enjoyed the pool from 3 on for Happy Hour..Great blender!!The landscaping-gardens—are very nice. All the beaches are splendid but Nail Bay beach has great shells .. the most beautiful waters on earth!..Irma and Howard were very accommodating and checked to see if we needed anything.   This is an incredibly beautiful cottage on VG. My husband and I had a very relaxing and peaceful ten days. It was perfect for the two of us---very, very private. The pictures on-line are accurate, but there is so much more there that is wonderful that the pictures do not show, such as the beautiful gardens and vegetation---fruit trees (such as mango, banana, lime, and papaya), beautiful palm trees and flowers---the fabulous stairway going up to the bedrooms (there is a skylight in this area), a very nice collection of books (I loved the cookbooks and we enjoyed the books on VG and the sea life there), and the artwork is divine. The new deck is perfectly situated, perfect for cocktails at sunset (I don't think there is a picture online of this feature). This property is very well maintained and clean. Even though Mary suggested we take vitamin B1 10 days before arrival and during our stay to ward off the amount of mosquito bites, this did not work for me. I have since heard that a dryer sheet in your pocket will ward off the buggers, so now I must return and try this out! ha ha!! That was the only thing I did not like. We found the dirt road to the cottage to be fun to navigate (we used a 4 wheel drive Suzuki) and it wasn't that bad or steep at all! Getting to Leverick Bay is steep!!! Howard says it will be paved in Oct., so there goes that bit of fun. The beaches are unspoiled, the air on VG is so fresh and fragrant, the mountains have not been cut into with villas---YET!!(like on ST. John), and the people of VG have genuine smiles on their faces and appear to be happy, unlike some of the people on other VI. That was most refreshing. It was so easy for us to get around and go places. The discovery of fresh, ground nutmeg on the top of a pina colada was a big treat! Thank you, Mary, for having some wonderful nutmeg available and a great mixer to make our daily pina coladas---our happy hour drink poolside or on the lanai. We enjoyed our trip to Saba Rock and had fabulous burgers there for lunch. Mostly, we enjoyed hanging out on the lanai in the morning with our coffee, and watching Sir Drake Channel come alive with boats. We enjoyed watching the rain come ashore. Shoot, we just enjoyed being able to experience rain. We enjoyed happy hour by the pool and watching the day change into night. The pool water was always a refreshing temp., never too cool or too warm. A million thanks to the owners and to Howard and Irma.
