We loved this house, the suites, the swings for the kids, the pickle ball(which we had never played but the game gave us many laughs) but the best overall was the gorgeous spot on the river!! Loved, loved, loved this property!!
This property is absolutely beautiful. There was something to to for all ages in our group.
The river was so much fun. We also played pickle ball, suffle board, shopped in Wimberly and barbecued on the massive patio and in the wonderful outdoor kitchen. The sunsets and sunrises were absolutely gorgeous. I would most definitely recommend a family vacation here. The beds in all suites are very comfortable, also. The owners are very nice and accommodating and their dog Lucy is super sweet. Best vacation ever!
Something for all the grandchildren-ages 6-18, and adult children. Not always easy to find a place that accommodates all. Oversized hot tub, served as a mini pool for the young ones. Then swimming and fishing for all. Very amply supplied! Loved it❤️!
We take our 4 kids, their spouses and our 11 grandchildren (ages 2 months to 12 years) on a family vacation every summer for a week. It is always a challenge to find a place that will accomodate our growing family. The house, cabins, waterfront and large property were beautiful. The grandkids had lots of space to play outside, and we all enjoyed our nightly, competitive pickleball tournaments. Wimberley and Canyon Lake also provide lots of fun activities. The adults and kids thought it was the "best vacation ever."
Each year we rent a large venue for our annual family vacation. Blanco Rapids Ranch did not disappoint. This year we had two extra families, for a total of six, including 12 adults and 5 children. There was plenty of elbow room both inside and outside - large kitchen, two living areas and multiple dining areas. Everyone had a private bedroom, with the master in the main house, a separate guest house, and the four bedrooms in the (themed) casitas. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked, including dishes, spices and shampoo. The stars of the home are the enjoyable back patios, and of course, the Blanco river. Lots of time was spent in the river, and while there are numerous places to sit under the shade in the water, we also brought a shade canopy and set it up in the water. There are shallow areas for wading, rocky areas with small rapids for climbing around, and a deeper area for swimming. Bring your river shoes. Even though it was blue-blazes hot this summer we hung out on the patio that overlooked the river, watching the birds at sunrise and the bats at sunset. We visited the goat herd in the adjoining pasture, faithfully guarded by a Great Pyrenees. This was a nice remote-style getaway and the family vote is that we would come back.
Our family of 11 spent a week at Blanco Rapids Ranch, more beautiful than expected. The accommodations capture the hacienda feel of the Texas hill country. Access to the river is just steps away from the fabulous patio, such a great space to relax and enjoy the wild life. The pickle ball court was huge hit for our family. The kitchen has everything a cook could possibly need. We have stayed many places along the Blanco, this is a very unique opportunity to enjoy such a large stretch of river front.
We loved out stay at Blanco Rapids Ranch. We rented it over the Christmas holidays because it was in a central location for our friends and family to get there easily. We didn't feel like cooking the night we arrived, so made a quick trip to Milagro's for Mexcian food. It's nice feeling like you are in a remote location with lots of space, but food, restaurants and town are nearby. There was also a trip to the local distillery and brewery. My favorite thing about the property was sitting on the patio or balcony and listening to the rapids. Most of our meals were outside on the patio. It was beautiful. The property had every amenity that we could have asked for. I have a few cooks in the family and there were plenty of cutting boards, knives, cookware and serving pieces for everyone to create their signature dishes with ease. I typically pack extra shampooo/conditioner, ziploc bags, garbage bags, paper towels, etc with rentals. None of that was necessary at Blanco Rapids Ranch. All was provided in more than sufficient quantities. There was plenty of room and privacy for my kids/spouses, extended family and friends to enjoy their stay without feeling crowded. The casitas were great. The owner was wonderful and even took my adult kids on a hike with them. They loved it! I'm a photographer and enjoyed taking pics around the property and by the water. We definitely want to come back again.
Family of 14 (1y to 87ys) enjoyed our stay. Fishing for some, spending all day on the river and the new pickle ball court is professional.
The large patio is incredible for cooking on the grill and conversation overlooking the Blanco.
Enjoyed this property for 2 years now.
This beautiful home and property is well stocked and well cared for. The property is beautiful and just steps away to cool off in the Blanco River! We were able to watch our older children from the outdoor patio that is attached to the main home! The owners and caretakers went above and beyond to make our stay a wonderful experience! We will be returning to this lovely home!
Great family vacation area. Spending time down at the river, pickleball, swings and the outdoor kitchen/grill were favorites. Our older folks enjoyed sitting out on the patios off the main bedroom and the one by the grill and bar area. The beds in the suites are really high, pretty, but with several older folks they couldn't get in/out of those beds and the sofa sleeper in the main bedroom was very uncomfortable. Other than that, we had a great stay! Thank you for your hospitality!
this is a five star ranch !
the online description doesn't do this property justice.
we were 4 families-8 adults and 5 children and we never lacked for activities to do.
the owner was available thru the whole process but everything was so well maintained that little help was needed. (steve had to reset the router once and that was about it)
we have stayed at a number of high-end properties thru vrbo in the past and the blanco river ranch is by far the best.
We thoroughly enjoyed our second stay at Blanco Rapids Ranch. The house is luxurious and well-stocked, with many nice touches. The property is amazing -- we fished up and down the river, ran on the trails, swung on the swings, played pickleball and frisbee golf, and enjoyed the beautiful views. We can't wait to go back.
Blanco Rapids Ranch was perfect for our large group! Plenty of space in each of the rooms, with flexible setups worked great for our 3 families. And the main house with new patio was the perfect hangout spot for meals, games and being lazy. Terrific views everywhere, coupled with wildlife and quiet sounds of the river. Just amazing! And Charlene is fantastic; super easy to work with.
They had everything we needed there. We spent time in the river swimming, fishing, even floating one day from one end of the property to the other. The grounds are large and great for frisbee, volleyball, etc. They have a new outdoor kitchen that was fantastic for grilling. The ranch is also a short drive to floating the Guadalupe, Comal and San Marcos rivers, in addition to other hill country beauty.
The suites, main house and all the grounds are very well kept and super clean. Highly recommend for families, friends, reunions, etc. Will go again!
Children, spouses and grandchildren all gathered at the river to enjoy a summer getaway at one spectacular property.
Everyone had incredible accommodations including the casitas, guest and main house. Plenty of fun for the kids with outdoor games on the property and the river was steps away
Thanks Charlene and Randy
This is our second time staying at this property and it blows me away every time! Perfect for our group of 4 family’s and the separate cabins are a unique bonus! This place has it all!! Thanks Charlene and Randy!
We had three families at Blanco Rapids Ranch and had an incredible stay over Spring Break. The house and casitas are very well maintained and excellent for entertaining. The views of and access to the river are great and we enjoyed swimming, kayaking and fishing. Our dogs loved running around the gated in yard and playing in the river. We took peaceful walks along the river and enjoyed our trip thoroughly. The owners are very nice and easy to work with. We’d love to come back again.
Our family of 13 - three generations- spent four magical days at this beautiful and serene property. Everyone, from the oldest to the youngest, found something to love here - and all voted to return next summer! Best VRBO ever! ♥️💕♥️💕
We were celebrating our 50th anniversary with our children and grandchildren. The home and the suites were the perfect setting. The main house had a very large den with plenty of space for our whole group. It is a beautiful home, the beds in all of the bedrooms were very comfortable and it was nice to have amenities provided such as shampoo, conditioner, lotions
In the bathrooms and a large kitchen. The suites had kitchenettes with Keurig coffee makers etc. The river and the area are very relaxing and the outside patio and bar were great for evening get togethers. We all plan to visit again.

Perfect spot for our family
Our family of 14 (ages 5-90) had a wonderful time at the ranch. Each room was carefully stocked with plenty of sheets, bedding etc. the main house is a gracious space with plenty of areas to eat, watch tv and relax. We especially enjoyed s’mores around the fire pit and searching for arrowheads along the riverbank.

The estate is unbelievable! First class all the way!
The owners are just wonderful people. They make you feel welcome from the word go. The home and all the amenities are just first class. The scenery and things to do are wonderful as it is right on the river. Our family had a wonderful time!

Great Property on the Blanco River!
Our group of 11 "mature" ladies was totally in awe of the setting of this property! Relaxing to the sounds of the gentle rapids of the river while sitting on the expansive patio, watching the birds and squirrels (we even saw a painted bunting!) and dining all together at the same table were just a few of the highlights for our weekend. The beds and the bed set up (kings and trundles) are very comfortable and work wonderfully for both groups and families. The property manager responded immediately to our minor issues and they were quickly remedied. The grounds and setting are park-like, serene and very well-manicured. The privacy is unequaled and yet you're still only minutes to downtown Wimberley. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious - worked great for our meal prep when we had 4 people working in the kitchen at once. Having the casita suites with their own private baths removed from the main house allowed those who wanted to retire early, a quiet retreat from those who wanted to stay up late. Cannot think of one negative thing except our time at Blanco Rapids Ranch went by much too quickly!

Great weekend retreat!!
We went to the ranch for a spring break weekend with 3 other families and all of our kids. We all had a blast. The kids loved running around the massive yard as well as swimming and fishing in the river. The parents loved the perfect backyard bar/grill area for when the kids went to bed. The game room/tv room is an added bonus for both kids and adults. We will definitely be back.

About the host

My husband and I have been in Wimberley for 40+ years. We have managed our rental properties all of these years. We have enjoyed time on the Blanco River with our family and friends all of these years. We moved to this fabulous property after the 2015 flood and have worked to restore the riparian of the Blanco River. We are proud of our efforts and results and hope to leave the river in much better health than we we arrived in 2016.
Why they chose this property
Blanco Rapids Ranch is in the Devils Backbone area between Wimberley and Canyon Lake. It is centrally located for trips to Wimberley, San Marcos, Austin, San Antonio, New Braunfels and Canyon Lake. The privacy of this river property is exceptional. The seperate suites make it the perfect place for a gathering of family and/or friends where you can gather together and also have your private lodging.
What makes this property unique
This ranch is on the Devil's Backbone which has amazing views! The location of the ranch between Wimberley, Canyon Lake, San Marcos, New Braunfels and Blanco make it so accessible to so many wonderful activiites. However most often when folks get to the ranch they want to stay and simply enjoy the incredible property.
