  • THE PERFECT HOLIDAY HOME FOR A FAMILY GROUP

"We were expecting a special place but were still very excited to find the facilities, decore and presentation of this lovely home exceeded our expectations. We were a family group of 11 with grandparents, and two families with 5 children ranging in ages from 13 down to 12 months. All found their own private bedrooms that were very tastefully decorated and sufficiently spaced from the others so that the younger children could sleep in while we enjoyed early morning breakfast in the loggia area beside the pool. Indeed we spent many long lunches and evenings around the huge table with the charcoal BBQ being very proficient at turning the fresh guinea fowl and meat from the many local markets into fine French fare. The kitchen was very well equipped with all the cooking utensils a master chef would need and equally there was a huge number of dinner plates and serving platters that made meal time so much fun. Our dealings with Karine to organise the rental were very prompt and helpful and our welcome was made especially warm by HERVE who kindly made the long trip to Nice to collect our daughter and family and bring them to Menerbe. The location of the villa is fantastic as it is close enough for a 15 minute walk up the hill to the quaint town of Menerbe and very close by car to the other hill villages. We did venture further afield one day to the medieval town of Les Baux where the kids loved clambering over the old ruins but the highlight for everyone in our group was the Quarries of Lights (Carrières de Lumières). Do not miss this spectacular light and sound display and allow at least an hour inside. We have stayed in numerousl HomeAway rental properties in France and although it is not cheap we would highly recommend this as a the best we have experienced and we all agree 2 weeks would be better than one. • Charming

"We spent a week here in late August 2012, and were lucky enough to come back for a few days last May. It is without a doubt one of the most effortlessly relaxing spots one could find in the world. The surrounding region borders on the excessive in its charms: fantastic nature for walks; lovely towns for coffee and food; perfect views to compliment a bottle of wine. The houses themselves are thoughtfully furnished, the pool is lovely an the garden is well kept. Most importantly, the entire experience is hassle free. Everything is so agreeable in fact, we're looking forward to visiting for a late summer's holiday again this year."

  • Highest Recommendation

"If you are looking for the ultimate experience in France, Oaks and Olives is the place. The house is perfect: absolutely charming while totally modern and functional. The kitchen is large and well equipped (you can tell the hosts are serious about their food!), the living/dining space is large and comfortable, and with two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and two with a shared bathroom, there is plenty of room. One patio gets lovely morning sun and the other, overlooking the beautiful garden, pool, olive and fruit trees, is perfect for afternoon and evenings. The covered outdoor eating area is beautiful any time of the day. The location is a great balance of quiet countryside (house location) within easy distance of so many charming towns, all with great food and interesting markets. Hiking, biking, walking or touring around are all fun. Access is easy, whether within France or from elsewhere. The TGV (fast train) from Paris comes to Avignon (about 30 mins away) and the international airport at Marseille is about 45 mins by car. Over and above all of the practical info, the hosts' attention to detail - from time of first contact to property maintenance - is significantly different from any other rental experience. Personal, prompt attention is given to the rental request, additional information happily provided, tons of useful, local information is available in the house upon arrival and the house and grounds are beautifully maintained. This visit was my second to Oaks and Olives. I was fortunate to stay in 2012 and am happy to report that the adage "you cannot go back again" does not apply. It was even better on a return trip, which I simply did not think possible, so I am already thinking about booking again - soon! Cannot recommend more highly."
