Wonderful Place, Noisy Though!
Giueseppe was an outstanding host! He was most helpful, punctual and very kind. The place was pristine! Really pristine. The kitchen was lovely, the AC was appreciated in the summer heat, the bedroom was large with its own toilet and sink. Yes there are two toilets making the morning rush out the door to explore Salerno convenient. Make sure that you find out how the electricity works. When power goes because a breaker is tripped, you have to go down to the lobby to reset the breaker. We lost power, an being Canadian and a bit naive, we patiently waited all day for the imaginary electricity company to restore power...meanwhile, we didn’t realize it was a tripped breaker that we could have reset in a matter of minutes. That one is no fault of the apartment, it’s on us. But note to the wise.
Be prepared for the noisy neighbourhood. The apartment is on the 5th floor (called Piano 4 or level 4 in Italy) and directly across from a church. The bells are piercing loud, and they go off every half hour. If you don’t plan to sleep in, or stay in, this won’t affect you. Also, the train runs right outside in-between the bells. The train is loud because, well it’s a train. In the church yard, children play football (soccer) every night until 1am. If noise does not bother you, then you will be fine. The appliances are new and in great condition making this apartment very accommodating for home cooks, and families. Despite the noise we enjoyed our stay as it was a good location to explore the area.
