La Calèche
Our 'petite' gîte for a romantic getaway with every comfort. Sleeps two in one bedroom. Free WiFi
Ground floor:
Lounge/dining area - comfortably furnished and comes with a Norwegian Jøtul wood-burning stove. As with each of our gîtes, satellite television, region-free DVD and CD players are included.
Fully-equipped kitchen itself comes with a refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine.
Upstairs:
Bedroom - furnished with a double size bed.
Bathroom - with a spacious 'douche a l’italienne' and washbasin.
Separate toilet.
Outside:
Terrace with table and chairs and access to barbecue area.
Domaine de Curé lying in middle of the vineyards with views of the Pyrenees offers 3 luxury gîtes with a private swimming pool set in a one hectare estate rich with numerous species of trees. The quality of furnishings and fittings is of the highest standard providing you with every comfort. Within the village of Conques-sur-Orbiel you can find both a café and a restaurant together with a selection of local shops. Supermarkets, gas stations, movie complex and other shopping are all within 5 minutes drive. For sightseeing and other activities in the region, the medieval fortified Cité of Carcassonne is only 10km away, along with the famous 17th century Canal du Midi. Other sites include the historical Cathar castles (Montsegur, Peyrepertuse, Lastours) numerous abbeys (Lagrasse, Fontfroide, St. Hilaire and St. Papoul) and many market towns. The Mediterranean Sea and Toulouse are 45 minutes away.

• During peak season of July and August, rentals are by weeks (1, 2, 3 weeks)
• Weekly prices include electricity, water and bed linen & towels (except pool towels)
• Our changeover day is Saturday. Outside of the peak season or wherever possible we can discuss alternate start dates and/or short stays but in principle our rentals are 3-7 nights minimum
• Extra heating/electricity charges may apply in low season or exceptional conditions
• All payments are 100% non-refundable unless we can re-book, in which case we work with you to return more of your money. We strongly recommended that you insure your holiday on confirmation

Tranquil country setting with gracious hosts

We felt very fortunate to stay in such a beautiful and relaxing location while unexpectedly having to extend our trip in Carcassonne due to a family emergency. Our hosts were friendly and kind, and we enjoyed our stay with them immensely. We would love to return again!

Wonderful Getaway near Carcassone

A charming gîte in a tranquil setting. Close to many Pays Cathare sites that can easily be explored from this location. Or...spend the day relaxing by the refreshing pool in the beautiful garden admiring the spectacular view. The gîte itself is modern and clean and the bed is very comfortable. Domaine de Curé is lovingly looked after by owners Agathe and Jean-Noël. I enjoyed my stay very much and hope to return.

We have stayed at Domaine de Cure two consecutive summers. We love this Gite! The location is perfect and the property is gorgeous. It is everything you would want. It is extremely clean and well equipped and the owners are wonderful people whom we now consider good friends. The area is great for walking with numerous fine restaurants nearby and many interesting villages and sites to visit. The view of the vineyard from the swimming pool is not to be missed. We stayed in la Caleche this year and it was perfect. The Gite is beautifully decorated, and the shower is fantastic! La Caleche is the smallest gite but felt very spacious with touches of both modern and antique pieces. Jean-Noel & Agathe make everyone feel welcome and are very knowledgeable about the local area and local wines. We will be recommending this Gite to our friends and hope to return next year for our third year!

Lovely rural retreat

My husband and I stayed in the smallest of the three gites in this peaceful location. The gites have been converted and renovated to a very high standard and are a welcome cool retreat when the weather is very hot. The interior was clean and well-maintained. The owners are very welcoming and are always on hand for a friendly chat or advice. The gites and pool area are surrounded by farmland and vineyards and it is possible to have some pleasant walks with very little traffic. There are no shops or restaurants very close by so you do need your own transport. It is possible to drive approximately 5 mins to the Canal du Midi and you can enjoy a walk along its banks into Carcassonne (it's about an hour's walk). The old city has plenty of good restaurants. There is a good baker, supermarket and other retail outlets within a 10-minute drive of the gites.

Entspannen und Wohlfühlen mit wunderschönem Ausblick

Wir haben uns relativ spontan entschlossen eine Woche in der Wohnung "La Caleche" zu verbringen. Durch Corona haben wir eine Unterkunft gesucht, wo wir uns nicht viel außerhalb aufhalten müssen, um ein Urlaubsfeeling zu bekommen. Genau das haben wir mit dieser Unterkunft gefunden. Die Unterkunft ist sogar noch schöner, als auf den Bildern und es fehlte uns an nichts. Die Einrichtung ist sehr gemütlich und man merkt, dass sich hierbei sehr viel Mühe gegeben wurde. Der Zugang zum Pool war an diesen heißen Tagen Gold wert. Am Besten gefiel uns allerdings der herzliche Kontakt zu den Gastgebern Agathe und Jean-Noel, die immer sehr zuvorkommend, hilfsbereit und auch sehr angenehme Gesprächspartner in den Abendstunden waren. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen und freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Besuch!

Superbe endroit de vacances

Nous avons passé une semaine à la découverte de Carcassonne et de ses environs. Jean-Noël et Agathe nous ont accueillis dans leur très belle propriété de Conques-sur-Orbiel et se sont montrés disponibles et attentifs. Les nombreux arbres et la vue depuis le jardin invitent au calme et à la détente et il est très agréable de rentrer le soir se rafraîchir dans la piscine après avoir découvert le riche patrimoine languedocien. Nous gardons un très bon souvenir de notre séjour.

Lovely holiday in an idyllic location

This is the second time we have stayed at this property although we stayed in a smaller gite this time round . We were again delighted with the property and location and the warm welcome from the owners Jean-Noel and Agathe . The property is very well equipped and in a very peaceful and idyllic location . It is however well placed for all amenities and there is plenty to see in the area.

Wonderful gite

We stayed in the small gite for 2 people - very well done, super clean, and everything worked well. Our hosts were very welcoming and attentive, and were prepared to share all you needed to know about the area. The surrounding vineyards offered good walking opportunities and the medieval town in Carcassonne was a terrific find. Highly recommend Domaine Cure as an enjoyable, care free destination.

Wonderful bite in quiet location

This was our first visit to the area and we could not have wished for a more perfect place to stay. Rural, yet set in close proximity to Carcassonne and other beautiful villages and scenery-a true escape to the country, but still only a short drive for shopping. The Caleche was spotless, clean, comfortable and stylish. Jean--Noel and Agathe were exceptional hosts balancing sociability and privacy to meet all guests needs and wishes. We enjoyed sitting out on the terrace most evenings over a glass of wine and felt very welcome. Sorry to leave but now relaxed and refreshed and can't wait to return. A perfect retreat in every way! Beautiful gite in perfect location!

We had such a great time. The gite is spacious and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Only 15 minutes from Carcassonne and in the centre of "Cathar Country". Agathe and Jean-Noel were perfect hosts - especially with their supply of excellent local wine at very reasonable prices!! We would love to return...

Zwei sehr erholsame Urlaubswochen

Sehr gemütliches Ferienhaus, ruhig gelegen, vollständig ausgestattet, sauber, geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Herzlicher Empfang von Agathe und Jean-Noel, die auch die ganzen zwei Urlaubswochen angenehme Ansprechpartner und Gesprächspartner waren. Auch den Pool haben wir sehr genossen. Wir haben die Domaine de Curé schon mehrfach weiterempfohlen. Die Umgebung lädt zu vielen interessanten Ausflügen ein. Agathe und Jean-Noel beraten gerne und gut. (Auch beim Wein und den Restaurants). Wir würden jederzeit gerne wiederkommen.

Beautifully converted traditional farm building

We very much enjoyed our stay in August at in La Caleche at Domaine de Cure, located in a quiet rural location surrounded by vineyards but not far from facilities. The World Heritage Site at Carcasonne is close by, plus lots of other interesting historic villages and chateaux. Our apartment was beautifully kitted out with everything we needed and the large typically french garden was great to relax in, with interesting birdlife such as hoopoes occasionally visiting! Our hosts, Jean-Paul and Agathe were very helpful and gave us some good advice on places to visit and to eat, including the nearby Michelin star restaurant; La Berengerie. Outside Carcasonne, the area was surprisingly un-touristy and unspoilt. We would definitely recommend this property.

Paradies nahe Carcassonne

Wir bewohnten das kleinste der 3 Gites - La Calèche - für 2 Wochen. Das Vermieterpaar war sehr freundlich, stets um ihre Gäste bemüht und halfen uns auch in Notlagen (Probleme mit dem Auto). Die Anlage liegt ca. 15 Fahrminuten von Carcassonne entfernt, am Meer ist man in einer Stunde und bei vielen interessanten Plätzen (Katharerburgen, Narbonne, Beziers, Oppidum, etc.) auch in 1 Stunde. Das Appartment ist sehr gut ausgestattet, in der Anlage gibt es einen schönen Pool, den wir auch oft genutzt haben. Es gibt insgesamt nur 3 Wohneinheiten, dadurch hat man viel Ruhe. Die Besitzer wohnen gleich nebenan, so sind alle eine "kleine Familie". Jean-Noel und Agathe umsorgen ihre Gäste und haben sich mit der Domaine de Curé ein wunderschönes Domizil geschaffen. Wir können die Anlage allen, die Erholung suchen und die wunderschöne Landschaft von Aude erkunden wollen, nur empfehlen.

Des vacances inoubliables et reposantes!

Très chaleureusement accueillis par Jean-Noël et Agathe. notre séjour dans le gîte de La Calèche nous a laissé un excellent souvenir. Le gîte est irréprochablement propre, à la fois confortable et décoré avec goût, muni de tout le confort nécessaire pour passer des vacances merveilleuses au calme au bord de la spacieuse piscine ou à la découverte d'une région magnifique, riche en patrimoine historique. C'est avec plaisir que nous y retournerons accompagnés de nos enfants.

The most relaxing vacation for a long time

We have already spent our vacation several times in la Calèche and have enjoyed it every time. The location next to the vineyards is beautiful and the loving care by the hosts made the stay always an unforgettable experience. The gîte is beautifully decorated and is equipped with everything necessary (washing machine, dishwasher, satellite TV, etc.) and compared with French standard, luxuriously equipped. Being close to Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi makes the location perfect. A car is useful (and necessary) for exploring the area. Highly recommended!
