This newly renovated 1 bedroom apartment features the old school charm of the Victorian era and modern amenities. Highlighted by 8-foot windows and doors, 12-foot ceilings and hardwood floors, it provides the perfect location for a weekend or week-long getaway. A great location uptown, just one block from St. Charles Avenue, you'll have easy access to public transportation, Fresh Market, Rite-Aid, corner stores and the historic Garden District landscapes. With a great view from the 2nd floor, property has a private full kitchen and bathroom (with clawfoot tub), hi-speed wi-fi, DirecTV, central air/heat, ceiling fans, and shared laundry room.
This VRBO partner has demonstrated and is committed to fast response times, the best rates, and a great guest experience.
I'm a modern jazz trombone playing producer who spends time traveling and teaching kids music and musical theatre. I've been on the road since the age of 18, so I know what it's like to be away from home and need comfortable accommodations. Spent time traveling the states, S. America, Europe, Japan, and S. Africa playing with legendary jazz musicians as well as my own groups.
Born and raised in New Orleans, I've lived in this house for 25+ years. Watched New Orleans transform both before and after Hurricane K. A saints fan for life...who dat!
I've got 2 parents, 5 brothers, 1 wife and 1 daughter, so I treat everyone who stays like family. If you want constant communications, suggestions or referrals, we've got you covered. Or if you just want a place to lay your head, chill and be left alone, it's all good!
My wife Trena does the decorating and I am admittedly obsessed with renovating. Just like the brand of jazz I play, I love mixing the old school with the modern. The natural look of wood finish is also a favorite, so just about all of the interior doors in the house are stained and finished, not painted.
My keys to life: Love, respect and good old common sense!
I love living uptown and also renovating properties. You'll immediately feel the love and attention we've given Chateau Carondelet for many years. The 12.5-foot ceilings and 8-foot windows, hardwood floors and arched ceiling trim work are still a marvel to my eyes!
Vibe, high ceilings, wood floors, old=fashioned tub, modernized kitchen, cool neighbors, brick fireplaces (though inactive) and wood, wood, wood everywhere!
Very well kept. Great access to the St. Charles streetcar. We enjoyed our stay.
Me and my husband visited New Orleans for a NBA game for our anniversary. This place had pros and cons.
CONS: *Very thin walls so we often heard a child playing and people walking outside even though the apartment was on the second floor.
*There was old grapes in the fridge.
*The entrace of the mansion was cluttered and dusty.
*It would have been nice to have the schedule of the street car along with restaurants recommendations etc.. in the area.
* There wasn't anything to sit our luggage on besides the bed or sofa in sitting area.
PROS: *Exterior of the house was beautiful and well groomed.
*The bathroom was nice and the shower was great!!
* The bed slept well!!
*The location was great, close to Canal St.,Magazine St., French Quarter, and Bourbon. All just a few minutes drive.
*Bottled water was provided.
*People in the neighborhood was very pleasant when passing the house.
Since we wasn't going to be in much this house worked for us,but if you are looking for R & R this may not be ideal.
Cute apartment, clean, convenient to city. Had issues with outlets...needed to reset them and then my curling iron still would not work anywhere but the kitchen.
My boyfriend and I stayed here over spring break and we loved it. It is walking distance to Magazine street/Garden district. Bourbon street/French quarter was about 2-3 miles away so we took Lyft BUT there was always the option of riding the street cars. The house is super cute and looks exactly like pictures. The check in/check out process was very easy and Del provided towels, hangers, an ironing board, and kitchen utensils to make our stay stress free. Thank you for sharing your space with us we can't wait to come back!
Classic NOLA apartment in fully restored mansion, tastefully decorated and fully equipped with Keurig coffee maker, soaps/shampoo, and cold bottles of water in the refrigerator. Close to the trolley, but away from the hustle and bustle - a great location. And the owner, is friendly, responded promptly to our needs, and is a world renowkn NOLA jazz musician to boot!
Highly recommend.
This property is beautiful and well-appointed in a great neighborhood, just a couple blocks from the St Charles streetcar, and a few more blocks from a magazine street. From this location we were able to get everywhere we wanted to go without driving.
The a soak in the claw foot bathtub is a must if you love to walk around the city.
The only minor issue was the reliability of the WiFi internet connection (which also affected the DirecTV on demand features). But that was a relatively minor issue and this Home would be worth booking even if it didn’t have internet at all.
We would definitely stay there again. Thanks for having such a beautiful place in one of our favorite cities.
