The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is that one has to account for the Island of Bimini itself, which is a step back into the 3rd world once you leave Resorts World Bimini, which is where Danny's condo is located. The Resort is tasteful, the pool near Danny's condo is wonderful and large and he has one of the nicest views you're likely to find unless you're right on the beach itself. There are a number of restaurant options within the Resort and the food is decent but, like everything in the Bahamas, incredibly overpriced for what you're getting. Add 18% mandatory gratuity and 7%VAT to every bill and a basic sandwich with fries will set you back a good $20. My advice, bring a suitcase full of food (no veggies or fruit, however) and the allowable 2 liters of alcohol per person and you'll be much happier. The grocery stores have nothing in them and what they do have is either the worst garbage imaginable or outrageously priced. $9 for a box of Raisin Bran and $9 for a gallon of milk. All that said, the beaches are lovely and the people, for the most part, are friendly. Danny was a responsive host and his condo, as I said, is one the best you'll find on VRBO. The wifi in the resort is spotty, at best, and the water pressure and electricity erratic at times. All 'n all Bimini is a strange place to visit, a taste of two completely different worlds (white and black, poor and wealthy) that is both jarring and fascinating.
