About this property

Stylish Chalet, Stunning Views of Mont Blanc, Hot Tub, Carport & large Garden

Le Refuge is a traditional, alpine style chalet that has been newly decorated and furnished, combining the wonderful wooden features with a stylish, contemporary design, resulting in a lovely and very comfortable chalet.

The ground floor comprises an open plan sitting room and dining room, separated by a modern, wood burning fire. The dining table seats 10 and there is a fully equipped kitchen as well as a small study. The spacious playroom can also be used as a double bedroom and there is a separate shower room and wc.

The first floor has a double bedroom with ensuite shower and a second double bedroom (can also be made up as twin beds), both rooms opening on to the south-facing balcony with wonderful views over L'Aiguille du Midi and Mont Blanc. There is a further single bedroom, family bathroom (bath and shower) and separate wc.

A wooden staircase/ladder leads to the second floor and a spacious, open plan loft with 6 mattresses under the eaves. Our children love this! The chalet comfortably sleeps 7 on the ground and first floor bedrooms and there are the additional mattresses in the loft. Please note an additional guest charge will be added to parties of over 8 people. This charge will appear in the price breakdown details.

The kitchen, dining room, sitting room and playroom all enjoy doors opening on to the south facing garden that surrounds the chalet and there is wooden decking on the south and east facing sections of the garden. The garden borders the 'ski du fond' and has lots of space for sledging and playing in the snow. This really is a wonderfully peaceful and beautiful spot.

There is easy access to the Grand Montets telepherique either via a short walk. Alternatively, the chalet is approximately 100m from the bus stop and the regular ski bus service up and down the valley to the various ski areas (Grand Montets, Le Tour, Flegere, Brevent, Les Houches). It is also easy to drive through the Mont Blanc tunnel to spend a day skiing in Courmayeur. There is parking for 2-3 cars within the garden.

The pretty village of Argentiere is a 10 minute walk or short drive and offers a selection of restaurants, bars, shops (including a supermarket and two bakers).

Another Amazing Stay

I can't recall how many times we have stayed at the chalet now, but once again our stay was absolutely amazing. The chalet is beautiful and spotlessly clean. Everything is on hand to cook for the whole group and now there's the extra bonus of a lovely bakery at the end of the drive!! Already booking to go back to our home in France (we wish!!)

Had a great time at Le Refuge. Did not ski Grands Montets as often as expected, but still loved this quiet spot. Yes, you can ski home from Grands Montets. The hot tub is great, as is the bakery next door, Mont Choux. Comfy beds, everything you need. Will be back.

Excellent chalet in quiet location

This chalet worked out perfectly for our group of 5 adults on a ski trip. Tucked away on a quiet street, the bus stop is very close and provides easy access to the entire valley. From Grand Montets it is possible to ski back to the house. Covered parking is a plus. Maggie and Wendy are easy to contact and take great care of their guests!

We’ve had a lovely stay, 11 people comfortable with room to spare, we’ve even managed to lose each other at times. The house is lovely, extremely well equipped in the kitchen and dining areas. The washing machine was a blessing too. We have all enjoyed the hot tub and sitting out admiring the view. A real gem of a property.

Lovely spacious chalet with views of Mont Blanc

We stayed at Le Refuge for two weeks in August. The chalet is spacious with nice bedrooms, two of which have a wonderful view down the valley towards Mont Blanc. The chalet is the end of a lane, with open space around it. The quality of the furniture and other facilities is very high, with access to a washing machine, tumble drier and WiFi. It was a pleasure to deal with the owner - I would highly recommend this chalet to anyone for a summer or winter holiday.

Amazing Chalet!

We rented the chalet with a group of friends for 4 days prior to a Haute Route trip. The chalet was a perfect place for our group of 8. The location was very convenient near Argentiere and a quick bus ride into Chamonix. Everything was very clean and in working order. The chalet was very well appointed with everything we could need. I think the best word to describe the chalet is charming. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I look forward to returning with my family for a another holiday. Communication leading up to our trip was also excellent.

Perfect....again!

Another brilliant trip to the La Refuge. As usual everything was available for a perfect stay. I'm running out of positive things to say! Ideal spot to walk to Chosalet for the nursery slopes (and a beer), drive up to GM for steep and north faced slopes, a few steps from the bus stop to the other mountains and I've now found out you can run the track next to the ski du fond to Le Lavancher to the right (up a big hill!!) and up the side of the Pierre a ric home run to the left. Already planning our next trip.

Even Better 2nd Time!

Our 2nd winter visit to this chalet. Everything is perfect! The brand new cedar hot tub was a big hit with the whole party (4x adults 4x kids). Loads of space for everyone to relax after a day skiing. The chalet is tucked away off the beaten track but all of the ski areas are easily accessible. GM is two minutes away on the bus and you can ski back to the garden from the home run. The kitchen has everything you need to cook in every night if you wanted to. All in all the perfect chalet in the best place in the world - in my opinion :-)

Nous avons passé de super vacances en famille dans ce chalet. Il est joliment décoré, les draps et lits sont bons, et on s’y sent comme chez soi. Les enfants ont adoré dormir sous les toits. Le bain nordique est agréable après une journée d’effort, et offre une vue imprenable sur le Mont Blanc. Les hôtes sont adorables et très disponibles. C’est la 2eme fois que nous y allions et avons adoré notre séjour à nouveau! Merci!

Séjour incroyable!

Un immense merci à Maggie and Cathy de nous avoir loué leur superbe chalet! Nous y avons passé un excellent séjour en famille. La décoration est soignée, et on s'y sent comme chez soi. Nous avons particulièrement aimé le confort des lits, et les enfants étaient ravis de dormir dans le dortoir sous les toits. Le chalet est bien situé, avec sa navette qui passe très régulièrement, ce qui donne accès aux pistes des grands montets très rapidement, et la boulangerie est à 2 min à pieds. On a beaucoup apprécié la vue sur le mont blanc, la paix qui règne autours du chalet, les poules et les chevaux à proximité, et les petits oiseaux qui chantent le matin. Un vrai dépaysement. Nous avons passé 4 jours très agréables dans ce joli chalet bien situé, au calme, avec tout le confort comme présenté dans le descriptif des équipements. Tout s'est organisé facilement à distance. Nous recommandons ce lieu chaleureux qui doit l'être encore plus sous la neige, autour de la cheminée centrale ! Si nous pouvons y revenir pour un séjour au ski ce serait le top !

Great chalet for families

I would highly recommend this chalet if you are looking for somewhere for 2 or 3 families. We stayed there with 3 families of mainly teenage children and the facilities in the chalet were more than ample. The Norwegian Bain was so good even in the cold weather. There was great communication from the host throughout our stay, nothing was too much for them. The chalet is in an excellent location for the Grand Montets and Le Tour ski areas. One little tip we have to pass on is if you have older children you must visit FUBAR in Argentiere. It’s a bar but they allow younger people in and have table tennis, pool, darts and a rodeo bull to keep them amused. If we ever go back to Chamonix as a large group we would definitely try to book this chalet again. Thank you for having us :)

As a group of friends, we have skied in the Chamonix valley for the last 20 years, firstly as young adults and now with our children. In 2012, we fulfilled a long held dream to buy a chalet in our favourite valley, large enough to accommodate us all and allow us to continue to enjoy skiing together as well as enjoying the multitude of fun, summer activities the valley offers.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with Le Refuge as, despite having such easy access to the Grand Montets and lovely village of Argentiere, it is tucked away in the most wonderfully quiet, unspoilt corner of the old Grassonets village. The views are breathtaking.
