Lochside apartment: stunning views over Loch Katrine
Lochside Apartment is a self-contained two-level property on the edge of Loch Katrine, in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, Scotland. Perfect for outdoor-loving folk! The property is on the top two floors of the beautiful Lochside House, which was built in 1900 and recently modernised, with bathrooms, kitchen, sofas and beds all brand new. The stunning views from The Apartment extend over the Loch on two sides giving our guests the opportunity to watch the ever-changing skies from sunrise to dusk.
The apartment has three bedrooms (2 twin, 1 double ensuite) and the top floor with the kitchen and living room has magnificent views down Loch Katrine. The area is quiet and peaceful, with Stronachlachar Pier a stone's throw from the house. The Pier Cafe does light lunches, coffees and light refreshments.
There is abundant walking locally, and the West Highland Way is only 4.5 miles away, where it passes through Inversnaid with its lovely falls. Slightly further afield are several Bens, e.g. Ben A'an and Ben Venue, and lots of forest walks too. The area is peppered with beautiful lochs, each with their own character and backdrops.
The Apartment can be booked on its own or together with 5-bedroom Lochside House (sleeps 10), to which there is an internal interconnecting door. The door is kept locked if the properties are not booked together. Lochside House has grand, high ceilings, but is cosy and warm with central heating and a wood-burning stove when needed, and a well-equipped kitchen. Perfect for family gatherings, yoga retreats, running holidays, or just to get away from the hurly burly.

This was a beautiful house. It was clean and comfortable. There were many steps to get to the top of the apartment but the views of Loch Katrine were worth it. Bedrooms are comfortable
Clean, comfortable beds, kitchen well equiped. Enjoyed the games during a day of storm. Good views of Loch Katerine.Downside: the amount of stairs to reacht the apartment and no space to sit outside. Beatiful walks directly from the house
Remote but restful and beautiful. The cafe is delicious and even accommodates gluten allergies. A ton of stairs to get into this apartment but all of the windows and skylights make for beautiful views.
Very private location. A bit of a drive from anywhere (closest town is about 20-30 minutes away) but that’s what made it so nice. Apartment was spacious and private. There were guests in the Lochside House but we never heard anything. Overall great experience
Perfect for a time-out in nature. However, if you might feel lonely you might visit the tiny and recommendable Pier Café in direct neighbourhood.
The appartment has everything you might need (WiFi, kitchenware, basic food equipment), check-in by the host with plenty of useful advice happened by email and without any problems.
Highly recommended accommodation we would ever choose again.

Thank you Thomas, we're so happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to seeing you again.
A group of five friends stayed here for my birthday. It's an absolutely stunning location with amazing views from every window and lovely walks and wild swimming/paddle boarding opportunities. The flat was very well equipped and comfortable and we had a great time.
A lovely apartment with superb views across Loch Katrine set in the beautiful Trossachs. We saw redpolls, goldfinches and siskins on the feeders and plenty of other wildlife too. The boat, which leaves from the pier is a minutes walk from the apartment and provided an excellent day out. We combined this with a return trip by bike using the traffic free route around the lake. A two way trip by boat is also a popular option
The apartment itself was superb. The bedrooms were clean and appeared to have been freshly painted. All bedrooms again had fantastic views out to the lake or on to the surrounding mountains. The kitchen and lounge on the top floor were spacious, modern and clean. A great place to stay for a quiet getaway.
Had a wonderful stay at this property recently with my partner and mother in law.
The property has everything you need for a comfortable stay and is clean and tidy and the views are AMAZING!
The kitchen is well equipped and the bedrooms are comfortable and clean.
We have a couple of minor suggestions for improvement but nothing that would stop us returning;
- A small light at the property entrance would be most helpful; it's really hard to navigate the couple of small steps and find the lock in the dark!
- The entrance hall is a little messy and unwelcoming
Otherwise, we can't complain and will definitely be returning :)

A beautiful apartment in a truly beautiful location. My family and I were very pleased with the accommodation which had everything we needed and was very clean and well presented.
Well equipped, warm and spotless with fabulous views across Loch Katrine from an eyrie of an apartment. Stairs are a bit of a challenge with heavy luggage. Ideal if you are looking for a peaceful stay in beautiful surrounding. Jetty adjacent makes it great for swimming and sup.
Everything was exactly as we hoped for.
Beautiful venue. Beautiful location.
So relaxing and exactly what we needed.
We loved swimming in the loch!
Highly recommend. Thank you so much.
We had the most wonderful three nights in this lovely place with stunning views of Loch Katherine.
Apartment, on two levels, is beautiful, comfortable and very well equipped for families to spend their holidays - whether it's sunny or rainy.
Location is just amazing, on the bank of a beautiful loch. You can admire sunrises and sunsets from the apartment without the bother from midgies.
It takes 35 minutes on a narrow road from Aberfoyle to get here, so get stocked up at a shop.
There are other visitors staying in the village (which is more like a croft) but everyone is relaxed and friendly.
We used the kitchen to cook two dinners and all breakfasts and it was as if we were at home. Fully equipped kitchen and lovely table for six to enjoy the meals.
The sitting area on the other side (with beautiful loch view) has ample space for sitting and/or watching TV or video. We used the DVD collection and found some fun films to enjoy.
There are also plenty of books to read or board games to play so you won't get bored on a rainy day.
One disappointment, not connected with the owners whatsoever, was that the local peer cafe was closed (despite info online that it opens on Fri and Sat night). We did look forward to going out there. In the end we found that it opened on Sunday, after we've made other plans. So do not count on it but if you're lucky you might get a nice experience.
One very important note - there are three flights of stairs leading to this apartment. It is NOT for people who find climbing stairs difficult !
To end - it was perfect and I hope we can return there one day.
