Located in Lancaster, this cottage is in a rural area and on the waterfront. The Dukes and Carnforth Station Heritage Centre are cultural highlights, and some of the area's attractions include The Enchanted Chocolate Mine and Cinderbarrow Miniature Railway. Hi, I'm Claire, an experienced holiday let owner. I work from home just a ten minute drive from the cottage so I'm on hand if you need me. I'm committed to continually improving the cottage and providing a great environment in which to enjoy your holiday.
My interests are my family and our quartet of rescued greyhounds, the natural world and good design.

Why they chose this property
The Riverside Tailor's Cottage was our family home for eight years before we began to let it out for holiday guests to enjoy. The village of Wray is renowned in the area for it's beauty and active community. We visited the Scarecrow Festival each year and loved the village before we bought the cottage - it was the only destination in our property search. My husband was barely through the door of the Cottage before saying he wanted us to buy it. For me it was all about the location next to the water. I love spending time in the window seat watching dippers and the resident heron in the river. Sitting on the riverside terrace in the garden on a sunny day, enjoying the sound of water lapping over cobbles and birdsong from the trees on the far bank, and watching the river flow by, I genuinely believe there to be no nicer al-fresco dining space for many miles.
The village of Wray has an interesting social history and the cottage is no exception. Built on the site of an old nailmakers in Victorian times, the cottage was originally a high-class tailor's shop and workshop and there are stylistic references to its industrial past throughout. The cottage is spacious and is a relaxing space to stay in, decorated in a pallet of calm colours which flow from room to room.
We love welcoming guests to enjoy the home we created and use it as a comfortable and welcoming base from which to explore this stunning region.

What makes this property unique
My favourite things to do when staying at the Riverside Tailor's Cottage are:
* Enjoying walks from the cottage along the rivers edge or into the beautiful surrounding hills and woodland
* Swimming in the Roeburn for a wonderful rush of happy hormones
* Enjoying a book in the cosy riverside reading nook while the children occupy themselves in the games room for a while
* Returning from a hike for a soak in the deep cast iron bathtub in the cottage's beautiful bathroom
* Cooking and eating together - always outside at the rivers edge when the weather allows
* Lighting the wood-burning stove on a winter's evening and enjoying a film together
