It is here where the main tourist centre of the island has been developed. Maspalomas is home to the largest beach on the island of Gran Canaria, together with Playa del Inglés, which is located next to it in the east. Both, which are actually one beach as they are joined together, together add up to about 5,600 metres in length, approximately 2,800 metres each. The beaches are surrounded by beautiful dunes and have a pond, two natural spaces of great tourist and scientific interest, which have been declared protected areas. The neighbourhood has plenty of leisure options during the day and an attractive nightlife around it. There are also plenty of places to shop of all kinds. I would dare say that there is almost nothing you cannot find in Maspalomas. If you are only planning to stay in the area, you can go on foot, by bike or on an electric scooter, as there are many parks and paths, but if your idea is to see all of Gran Canaria, I always recommend renting a car because although there are buses (guaguas in the Canary Islands), there are places where they do not go.
