Elegantly designed and furnished, with spectacular views across Assos bay, the beach and the venetian castle. Vicky's View is a unique property situated on the beach, literally one staircase to the water! with its Venetian castle beyond. One of Kefalonia's most magical sights, picturesque Assos sits off the beaten track – quiet and deeply relaxing.

Assos is a small and charming village located 36 km north of Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia (45 min drive by car). It is one of the most charming spots of the island. Dominated by the ruins of a 16th century Venetian castle, the village of Assos is built on a small peninsula reflecting a beautiful and warm atmosphere.

Assos has 3 traditional tavernas, a sea-side cafe/restaurant as well as a fantastic street food canteen which serves incredible food/cocktails.

Wonderful flat but quite disappointing experience

Yes, the flat and location are great. Very modern and clean. Recently renovated - I was here in 2020 and it really needed a refurbishment - the flat is in a wonderful location. I would have assigned 5 stars - no doubt - except that we booked for 7 nights but the host completely forgot about our booking and I have to call him up the day before to ask for indications such as where to find the keys. And he was even surprised to hear from me. The next day we reached Assos at 9.30 am and kept patiently waiting for when the flat was empty (around midday I hoped). However, at noon we realized the people in the flat were not going to leave anytime shortly. So I called the host in the UK and he apologized that the flat was occupied for ANOTHER DAY and we had to take another flat (called Pefkos) for one night. He also said he was going to pay back one night for the disguise and because the other flat was clearly less expensive. I patiently accepted this solution (did I have any other choice?) and moved to the other flat. The next day we have to wait the entire morning (again) to get Vicky’s View free and finally move there. This was a big waste of our holiday time and at the end the host Charlie Menegatos didn’t honored the promise to pay back the one night we lost. So the overall experience was quite disappointing and I am going to protest with VRBO about this misconduct of overbooking the flat. So if you plan booking it: good luck with the reliability!

Amazing location, fabulous apartment

The 3 bedroom apartment has had a complete make over and is absolutely stunning. It is now contemporary and modern with the highest quality furniture and fixtures. The lighting fixtures are show pieces in themselves! Everything was brand new and no expense has been spared. The master bedroom now has an en-suite which we weren’t expecting and there is also a washing machine. Apart from the amazing interior, the view from the balcony of the beach and Assos village is awesome. From watching the leisure boats in the bay to the views of the castle was a constant delight. The balcony is only small but we managed to seat all 4 of us with a little shuffle of chairs. The separate covered terrace is a nice place to sit when it became too hot in the sun. The location of this apartment is ideal - only an easy two minute walk to the tavernas and small shops. Nick - the owner lives below and was lovely and very welcoming and helpful. Thank you soo much for a wonderful holiday experience.

Great location, but terrible check in experience

The property was as described and in a great location in a great village. Charlie communicated the check-in information and confirmed the morning of check-in. However, after driving from the airport we were led on a wild goose chase to find Apolonia. I was certain we were in the correct location, but was told by a couple in the unit that we were downstairs. After trying every door downstairs, a woman from next door came over and explained that she had let another couple, who was checking out, hang out in our apartment until we got there. This includes taking showers and using the rooms. The couple were lovely people, but in COVID times, COVID precautions were not met. The couple called a cab and left and the next door neighbor said she didn’t have us down for a reservation. I contacted Charlie about the cleanliness/COVID issue and the check-in debacle with no response. I only received a “please check out at 11:00” email. The apartment itself has a very uncomfortable couch and relatively hard beds. The bathroom has a drain in the floor that floods the entire bathroom when you shower. The bathroom was not clean when we arrived, we cleaned it ourselves. If you want to stay in Assos, I’d recommend somewhere else.

Amazing place

The owner Vicky was so helpful. The place is lovely and in an amazing location. Really comfortable and clean. Everything you need. When we arrived and opened the shutters the view was incredible. What a place!! Hate to say this as it'll he more difficult to book for us, but don't hesitate to book this place. You will not be disappointed . Amazing ...stunning...thank you for a lovely stay. Well see you again in different times

Beautiful location overlooking picturesque bay

The location of Apollonia was perfect for early morning swims around the bay, proximity to (pebbly) beach (sunbeds a must) and beautiful walks up and around the castle and its environs, and up above the back of Assos. We barely noticed the influx of day visitors who arrive (seemingly by car or coach – the only real ways in or out) for short visits and leave by late afternoon; the three delicious local restaurants were never overly busy in the evenings. We frequently cooked at home, all necessary kitchen equipment being provided and the back terrace being perfect for at least six people to eat outside. Air con in the two bedrooms was much appreciated and needed. Any previous mattress issues in the main bedroom seem to have been resolved – we slept really well. Linen quality and frequency of change was perfect, and our housekeeper, Antonia, was super friendly and helpful. The owner responded very quickly to minor and major problems with the electricity supply, and moved us to one of her other (also lovely) properties for our last night. We would love to return to Assos and one of Vicky’s properties – a fabulous 11 night stay - wish it could have been longer.

Great terrace and views

We spotted Apollonia when we visited last year and were pleased to secure a booking for our return trip. We were a party of three ladies looking to have a chilled week of sunshine and good food and Apollonia was the ideal base for us. The apartment is a great size and we were all able to have our own space but one of the best things for us was the spacious terrace where we enjoyed breakfast and lunch daily and when the weather wasn’t so kind a sheltered place to enjoy a book. Special mention must be given to the housekeeper (sorry we didn’t catch your name) who was incredible, she gave us a great welcome and looked after us so well, she even brought some lilos down to the beach for us, so thank you so much, hope we can return again in future years.

Loved it

Overall the accommodation and Assos itself were wonderful. Sitting on the balcony listening to the sea lapping on to the small beach was so peaceful. Opening the shutters to the sunshine each morning was a joy. I would say that the bed in the main bedroom could be better (didn’t do wonders for my back) and the kitchen equipment could do with an overhaul/review but these aren’t major, Would (and will definitely go back

Perfect Location with wonderful views

Our second visit to Apollonia which is in an absolutely fabulous position with views over Assos, the Venetian Castle, harbour and beach. The garden area is a bonus and is secluded perfect for relaxing.The restaurants are good and the small Supermarket is useful. The apartment was very clean and well equipped and the lady who looks after the apartment was very friendly and helpful. We were surprised to receive an Easter gift from her on Easter Sunday which was lovely. We have fallen in love with Assosand plan to return in the future. Hopefully extending our visit to longer than 3 nights.

Fabulous views in a superb location. Very well appointed with everything we needed and more.

The apartment was spotless and very well equipped for our stay. Views were amazing and location perfect. The owner was most helpful and we would love to revisit in the future. It was also nice to arrive at our destination with water and a bottle of wine in the fridge. Thank you. Beds were extremely comfortable ensuring a perfect nights sleep. We would thoroughly recommend.

Very clean and in the perfect location

Assos is an ideal location and this property located in one of the best positions to enjoy the views etc.Choice of4 tavernas with reasonably priced meals. The sea was perfectly clear and warm even this early in the season. The property was ideal for us (2 people) for a perfect and peaceful break.

Beautiful Thimari, Exceptional holiday!

This was our third visit to 'Thimari' in Assos. The apartment is very comfortable with everything you need. Balcony's to front and rear, with wonderful views of the pretty harbour and colourful houses. The village is a moments walk with cafes and restaurants. Swim in the sea at the bottom of the steps. We love it and will return again, and again! Vicky is most helpful ensuring your holiday is hassle free.

What a find!

All I can say is wow!! A beautiful little house a minute walk from the beach, with the most amazing view of the bay from the lounge and the bedroom. There was also a view of the sea from the bathroom window at the other side of the house. The house was very tastefully decorated and a lovely kitchen and bedroom.The only criticism is we needed more clean towels and bedding! I would recommend this beautiful house with an amazing view to everyone and can't wait to go back one day!

Beautiful Thalassa Apartment

From first entering Thalassa and seeing the beautiful views from both balconies we were smitten. Everything was as we had been shown with the 360 degree tour and detailed arrival information. The decor and facilities were excellent and very tasteful. Clean and feeling relatively new we couldn't fault it. Vicky provided very quick & efficient customer service from start to finish. Yes we would definitely recommend this property to family and friends and we would love to return. The village of Assos is pretty,relaxing,unspoilt and friendly. We hired a car but if you just want to relax in Assos for a week you won't be disappointed. Three restaurants serving lovely authentic Greek food and a couple of stores to buy some local goodies if you prefer to eat at your apartment. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience in a beautiful apartment. We will return!

What a perfect destination a truly special place Assos is ,great beaches, lovely restaurants especially platonos you will not be disappointed.the apartment is fantastic as well finished to a high standard and only a minute from the beach and restaurants and dealing with Vicky was stress free and easy I will be recommending to my friends and we will be back thank you Vicky for introducing us to Assos it's been one of our best holidays

Assos....a stunning location!

We recently travelled to Assos to attend our son's wedding,a location he and his girlfriend had picked as their favourite place to marry and they weren't wrong, it is simply stunning. I had booked the Apollina apartment online for myself, my husband and two adult sons and it was perfect for us, spotlessly clean, comfortable, bed linen and towels changed regularly by a lovely friendly housekeeper, a private balcony which is wonderful to sit out at and enjoy the beautiful weather, air conditioning which is included in the rental price and mosquito nets on all windows which allows you to leave your bedroom window open at night so you can hear the water just below lapping against the shore...a wonderful treat. Just outside the apartment gates are steps leading directly to the crystal clear blue watered bay.....an amazing site when you first arrive. The owners, Vicky and Nick could not have been more helpful and were always available to offer help or answer any questions. Just a stroll away are four tavernas,all equally good with a great choice of foods whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner you are looking for and I must say it was a pleasure to meet all the local people running the tavernas or the little shop, absolutely lovely, friendly people who made our stay,and the wedding, even more enjoyable than we could possibly ask for. I certainly intend to return to Assos again in the future.... a must see location without any doubt.

Fantastic place and a great apartment to match.

Assos is a truly wonderful place to visit on holiday. We stayed at Pefko apartment, which is a two minute walk from the beach/taverna's etc and cannot speak highly enough of the accommodation and the location. The apartment was spacious, elegant and very well kept. We would love to go back!

Wonderful flat overlooking the magic port of Assos

After being here for two weeks we really felt part of this magic place , a sort of unique old fisherman village built on a isthmus facing on the crystalline water of the port ; the location is fantastic as this is the most beautiful house on the gulf , and the flat faces right on it , down the stairs you are on the beach : better than this you cannot have . Vicky and Nick are more than perfect host , and they are very helpful in any occasion . The well organized made service once or twice a week included in the price , is the cherry on the cake of the facilities .. A place that remained in to our hart , and that we will recommend to our any of our best friends .. Marco and Miki

Gorgeous spot,

Apollonia is a lovely apartment in Assos where we have stayed some years ago and where we have just returned with our nine year old daughter. It sits in a superb position in the bay and is one of those 'to die for' spots where you can enjoy a glass on the balcony in the evening and wonder where else in the world you would rather be. Alternatively it is the simplest thing in the world to go down the steps to the beach and swim (the swimming area is buoyed off from boats and very calm and our daughter loved it). Vicky and Nick are most welcoming hosts and on the practical side the apartment is spotless, cleaned and with linen changes throughout the week and with air conditioning part of the hire fee on the basis that it is used appropriately. We are naturally drawn to try different places in the world as there are only so many holidays one has in life...and yet, there is a draw to Assos and to Apollonia that is so strong. Look at the photos and see for yourself - it is as good as it looks.

Perfect!

My husband and I stayed for a week during our honeymoon, and we absolutely loved our stay! Thimari apartment had spectacular views over the bay, and after travelling around the whole island, we concluded that this apartment was in the most beautiful spot going! It was really quiet at night so it was a really relaxing stay. The beach just down from the property was quiet, one of which was lovely to snorkel in- lots of fish! The apartment was immaculate and air conditioning cooled the property very quickly. Was a really practical apartment, but still so beautifully done. The views from the balconies were amazing so we chose to cook dinner in quite a bit and enjoy the views! Easy to find from airport too- we had a car and would definitely recommend getting one. We will be back for sure! :) Thank you very much.

Apollonia Apartment

A lovely apartment in a super location. The property was very clean and well maintained. Marianna, who looks after the apartments, was a gem. The information we received prior to booking was very good and the apartment was exactly as described, if not better. Assos is fantastic - small, friendly and relaxing with a beautiful bay. I wouldn't hesitate to visit Assos or Apollonia again.

Stunning location

Great Greek Getaway

We've just got back from a lovely week in Apollonia, Assos. This is Greece as you hope it will be - a lovely village where the restaurant owner recites the menu choices and the shopkeeper tells you which is the best Feta for your salad. The sea is crystal clear and the snorkelling fabulous. The beach is pebbly rather than sandy but that wasn't a problem as you didn't get sand in your towel. The apartment gives you a wonderful view over the harbour - you can look down into the sea and across to the restaurants where you'll be eating later. it had everything we needed - a bath and a shower so everyone was happy - and a well-stocked kitchen. The fridge had wine and milk - just what we needed after our journey and a lovely touch. It felt spacious and clean and Mariana the cleaner was really friendly and helpful, coming in everyday. We hired a car for the week so we got to Fiskardo, Sami and Myrtos beach easily but you could probably hire a taxi as the distances aren't great. We were lucky with our timing and saw beautiful wild flowers everywhere. The walk up to Assos Castle is highly recommended - it's paved all the way up so walking is easy and you get amazing views on every turn. There is an alternative way down which is slightly more tricky underfoot but means you get a different perspective on the return walk. All in all, a great way to recharge the batteries. We certainly hope to return.
