Peaceful 2 bedroom cottage in rural location 3 miles from Whitby

Lowdale Farm Cottages are nestled between the North Yorkshire Moors and the historic seaside town of Whitby on the edge of the village of Sleights.

We are delighted to offer this 4 bedded cottage in a beautiful, peaceful location with off street parking. Perfect for couples and families looking for a quiet restful holiday. We are very much dog friendly and happy to welcome up to two dogs, but we ask that they are NOT left unattended at any time in the cottage.

Lowdale Cottage is a cosy 2 bed cottage sleeping 4. The bedrooms comprise a double and twin room. There is a family bathroom comprising a bath with integrated shower.

Downstairs is the open plan kitchen, dining room and comfortable lounge area. The back door leads to a walled patio area with table and chairs leading to a lawned area and overlooking our field.

The cottage has a modern well equipped kitchen with all the essentials for a self-catering holiday including a dishwasher. There is a washing machine and freezer in an external laundry room. We have reliable WiFi throughout the cottage and our smart TV box provides catch-up TV, Sky entertainment channels and access to Netflix.

There is exclusive off street parking directly in front of the cottage for 2 cars.

We DO NOT have EV charging facilities. Charging from a normal socket is strictly NOT permitted on safety grounds.

We also have a neighbouring 6 bedded cottage.

Situated on the edge of Sleights village we benefit from the facilities in the village including the renowned Radfords Butchers, Bothams Bakery and Eskdale Fisheries Fish and Chip Restaurant and take-away. Perrys Plant Centre - a pretty garden centre and tea rooms is a short stroll away and situated overlooking the River Esk. The village also has a pub serving meals.

The cottages are ideally situated with Whitby just 3 miles away. Many other points on the North East Yorkshire Coast are easily accessible, the busy holiday resort of Scarborough with all its attractions is 19 miles away. Sleights station is on the Esk Valley Line with trains running into Whitby (NYMR Heritage steam trains run through during the summer months) and regular bus service giving an alternative to the parking issues in Whitby particularly at busy times.

Please note that in high and peak seasons we only accept 7 night stays as a minimum with a Friday check in.

Perfect cottage and location

Right from arriving at the location and seeing the cottage 'for real' exactly as the photographs - I knew we were in for an enjoyable stay. Inside the cottage is simply yet beautifully appointed. The location meant we were able to take the bus to Whitby and the train back perfect. When we wandered further we took a car - so much to see and do.

We had the lovliest week there. We were made to feel very welcome and the flowers and delicious cake were a lovely touch. The cottage is cosy, quaint, very clean, well equipped with a lovely spacious garden. A great central location to visit the many surrounding areas / attractions and a large Sainsbury's just a short drive away.Overall a perfect holiday made of some wonderful memories and more to be made there in the future.

This beautiful cottage was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. The outside space is fantastic with a secure garden and a large secure paddock for dogs to run and play. This is certainly the best dog friendly holiday cottage we have ever stayed in.

Excellent little cottage

In all our years of self catering I don't think we've had a cleaner, more well equipped cottage than this. To say it's dog friendly is an understatement, with throws, treats, feeding bowls etc all available along with a paddock to play in. The cottage was sparkling clean and fresh on arrival, and we were met by Jane who explained everything to us. The owners live right by the cottage and were really friendly without being intrusive. It's in a lovely peaceful spot yet only a short drive from Whitby, or a three mile walk over fields. We can thoroughly recommend staying here, we certainly will be back. Thanks Jane and Brian for a lovely break.

We are Jane, Bryan and Harvey the dog.

We followed our dreams and after several years of holidaying in the area made the move to Sleights in December 2018.

We left a busy and stressful lifestyle of running a Bus and Coach Business in Hertfordshire.

We were delighted to be able to purchase Lowdale Farm and its two adjoining cottages. Since we have been here we have spent much time improving the grounds and cottages. We love the area and hope that you will too.

Harvey joined us in May 2021 at 8 weeks of age. He is a Golden/Fox Red Labrador and very friendly and playful.

Why they chose this property

The cottage is ideally located in a quiet, rural location surrounded by beautiful views, with walks from the cottage, dark skies and wildlife in abundance. The North Yorkshire coast and Moors are easily accessible from the cottage.

We have an adjoining 6 bedded cottage - Farm Cottage which enables larger family or friendship groups to holiday together whilst still having their own privacy.
