Situated in peaceful Heworth this former stable cottage is just a short walk from the historic centre of York, within easy reach of all attractions and amenities.

In addition to everything the city has to offer, Heworth provides a range of pubs, cafes, local shops and a park with children's play area and is well situated for accessing the North Yorkshire Coast, North Yorkshire Moors as well as the busy market towns and stately homes across the region.

A lovely little stay

Wonderful hosts! The place was well kept and easy to get to, exactly as described and in a beautiful part of the city. My friend and I had a lovely time. Cozy, clean, well provided for, it was a ten out of ten in my book .

Great Stay

This was a really wonderful property, and the hosts had thought of every detail. They were also excellent to communicate with and had gone over and beyond when making provisions. Highly recommended!

Great location, very quiet area.

A wonderful place to stay that's close to the city centre but in a very peaceful location. The cottage is immaculate with a great kitchen and bathroom plus comfortable bedrooms. Parking was readily available on the next street so no issues there and 2 minutes away from a bus stop.

Perfect Stay

Cute little cottage in a perfect spot for our visit to the races. Great hosts, lovely little touches, fresh milk, fizz, tea and coffee and little treats left for us.Very clean and everything you need is there.No parking directly outside but managed to find a spot just on the road in front easily.Wouldn’t hesitate to return next time we are in York.

Brilliant stay

A beautiful house, extremely clean , had everything that could be needed. We really appreciated the homely extras that were left for us - a very kind gesture. Perfect location and fantastic communication prior to the stay from the owner. I would certainly return 😊 Would definitely return.

Quiet, peaceful cottage

This was such a relaxing, cozy stay. I am traveling with my 18 year old son, and this was a perfect place for us to each have our own space. The hospitality was excellent—the hosts thought of so many extras to make us comfortable. It’s a slight jaunt from the sights, but that also means it was a quiet place to stay, and the only thing that woke me up was morning bird song. I would recommend.

Great Spot in York!

Very recently updated with nice finishes and appliances. Hosts were easy to work with. Was worried about parking but was able to find a spot easily thanks to the description in the instructions.

Our best stay in the UK!

During our 2-week holiday in the UK, we stayed at 4 different locations and this was by far the best! Wish we had spent more time here. The house was darlings, exactly as described, clean, private, and perfectly located! Walking distance to so much! The host was amazing, with great communication and suggestions. Thank you so much!!

Excellent stay within walking distance to York on a beautiful home.

This home was perfect for our family of 5. The kitchen was well equipped and the host even left little treats and basic staples to help us get started which was so appreciated. We managed to find street parking for free and walked into York to see the sights which was ideal. Great location, quiet and lovely neighbourhood with a park and a shop a few hundred meters away. Lovely furnishings, extremely clean, comfy beds. We loved it!

Loved our stay

Outside of York, which we liked. A bit too far to walk with luggage but the #9 bus is close and a quick way to get to town centre. The apartment is really clean and beautifully decorated. Comfortable beds. The snacks and milk etc. provided by hosts was wonderful. Bathroom is downstairs from bedrooms which isn’t fun at night, but otherwise perfect!

What a charming place to stay!

We had never been to York before and were delighted with the area and with this charming house. It has clearly just been done up so everything is pristine and done with such style. Jim and Kate were very prompt to reply and sent us all the information we needed. Can't recommend highly enough.

Cozy and welcoming

We loved staying at this beautiful cottage. The hosts really thought of everything to make you feel at home. We loved the co-op market on the corner...it had everything we needed for a quick and easy dinner. The kitchen was perfectly stocked with necessities. The shower was amazing! We wish we would have stayed longer! The hosts were so great at responding and providing us with all the info we needed.

Superb base to explore York and beautifully appointed

This is such a great place which could very comfortably accommodate a small group or a family. Extremely well appointed and only about 10 minute walk to the city wall. Nice cafe and a local shop just around the corner, as well as a good fish and chip shop. Jim was a great host - very attentive - and his communication was excellent. Really could not fault it it any way and would have no hesitation in recommending this for a brilliant city break in one of England’s most beautiful cities.

Clean with personal touches

The Hideaway is a quaint cottage with outstanding cleanliness and amenities. The added touch of snacks waiting for us was so appreciated and welcomed. I also appreciated the flyers of local activities. Communication was excellent and very prompt…an added touch of hospitality. Neighbors were friendly and well accommodating while we were unloading. And York is a lovely city.

Sometimes you find a holiday cottage that’s so perfect, you almost don’t want to tell anyone about it — just to make sure it’s not booked out for years to come. Still, we couldn’t not recommend this lovely place.The cottage is spotlessly clean, looks beautiful inside and out, and has everything you need for a comfortable stay in York. The owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they really do their best to make you feel at home.Our kids were especially happy with the treats that had been left for us in the kitchen, which was such a thoughtful surprise. It took us around 20 minutes to walk into the city centre, and there’s a shop, a park with a playground and a few pubs close by.We had a fantastic time and would absolutely love to come back.

Exploring York and Theatre trip

This is the second time I have stayed at this property - once with my family and this time with friends. The house is very conveniently situated - a walk into the city centre or an easy bus ride. The house is an incredibly cute little cottage finished to a really high standard. It has everything you could possibly need and the owners have thought of everything! All the little touches were very much appreciated (like a bottle of milk and even a bottle of Prosecco!) I would definitely recommend this property!
