About Martin Lee

I lived in the Charlotte area for over 6 years and consider it my second home now as I still visit there frequently from my current residence in Houston TX. I purchased this home as a Vacation Home on Lake Norman and found its combination of mountain log with main channel lake view appeal unique and like nothing else I had found in over a year of searching for the ideal retreat. Unlike most vacation rentals on the lake this home was built specifically to be a Vacation Home and this is immediately obvious as your walk through the doors. Enjoy your stay. I want you to return!!

Martin Lee purchased this house in 2006

Why Martin Lee chose North Carolina

I consider myself fortunate to have lived in the Lake Norman area for a number of years and I always look forward to return visits there. As one of the largest lakes in the south east Lake Norman is truly a wonderful place to vacation and as some of my previous guests have discovered a compelling place to consider returning to again and again! In fact I have a couple guests who have now retired to the area as a result of their experience staying in my Log Home and soaking up the atmosphere of Lake Norman and the surrounding areas.

What makes this house unique

- The intemate Master Suite. You have to discover for yourself!

- Breakfast on the upper level balcony.

- Sunset drinks on the elevated boat deck.

- The warmth of natural Log surroundings and the cozy fireplaces.

- Evening walks in the surrounding neighborhood which is private and full of interesting homes.

- Looking forward to the next visit!

Guestbook comments from the owner

I have just completed a $3,000 installation of a top of the line water softener and integrated filtration system. This will eliminate any variability in quality of the well water at this home as otherwise varies based on recent weather patterns. The system works great and the water looks fantastic.

Terrific property

  • 4 of 5

Great location. It's a log home so naturally pretty dark inside but cozy. Upstairs is pretty warm, main floor perfect temp and basement pretty cold. All floors very livable. Tap water in kitchen is kind of brown so bottled water is recommended for drinking. Boat house with kayaks is a must! Terrific cove for paddling about. Very nice stay!

Loved the rustic cabin style accouterments. The yard was spacious and the fire pit was well used!!!!

  • 5 of 5

The house had an inviting feel and all of our guests loved it. It is great for large crowds with a spacious back yard and large fire pit. It is very convenient by land or water to everything and we will definitely be back. Marty the owner was a wonderful host and we the house is outfitted with everything you need.

Nice stay

  • 4 of 5

The log cabin was large enough for our family. Bedrooms upstairs were hot, though and bunk beds on bottom floor were cold to sleep in. Main level was a comfortable temperature. Need a little more lighting in bedrooms upstairs. We did see a mouse on the bottom floor one evening but it is a lake home so we were not totally surprised. The outside dock and upper deck were very nice. Fire pit is very pretty but it was too hot to light a fire during the week we were there. Lake Norman was beautiful. I would stay at this house again when visiting the area.

Great Vacation!

  • 3 of 5

There is always good and bad about a stay so here goes....

Good...lots of room, big counter for food prep, great location, fun volleyball net, kayaks, canoes (costs extra) And the fire pit was awesome!

Bad...air condition freezes those in the basement, ok on middle level and is not cool at all upstairs (pretty hot up there) and the beds are MOST definitely not as advertised..... They are twin beds for one person each NOT double beds. Boat lift is scary and rickety. Lots of spider webs outside on the deck that I think the cleaning crew could take care of. Not much comfortable seating for family in the living room. The ice maker in the kitchen does not work....the one downstairs is slow.

We did have a great is everything despite the negatives this could be a great place!

Nice place

  • 4 of 5

Our group was 4 adults, 4 children, and a dog. Overall we had a great time, the owner was extremely nice and willing to help with any questions we had. He accomodated a coupled special requests and we were very grateful. The house was clean and well taken care of, the recent renovations (new carpet) are definitely nice. The location is great, feels like you are far from town but the reality is that anything you need is only 10 minutes away. This is a legit log cabin so be aware that lighting isn't all that great in some places (mainly kitchen) and the ceilings are vaulted/low on the top floor. The main floor bathroom has been updated but the basement and top floor could use some renovation - although they work fine. The yard and fire pit are great - kids had a lot of fun running around since we had surprisingly warm weather for winter. One thing that we found rather strange was that none of the beds were made when we arrived. There were clean sheets on each bed but we had to make them ourselves. We have stayed in many VRBO homes and never had to do this; it was not a pleasant surprise at 11pm (especially the bunk beds). This is actually more of a comment for the cleaning company but since they are hired by the owners I thought I would mention it. Again, overall a great place in a great location.

Owner's Response: I appreciate the kind review. My policy has been to leave clean folded sheets on all beds as evidence they have been laundered and to accommodate flexibility on which beds and rooms are used as often some are not occupied and this saves on turning over linens between stays. I will ask in future if guests prefer to have some or all beds made up in advance, and I particular understand importance of this convenience when guests are arriving late on day of check in.

Fantastic Lake House!

  • 5 of 5

My family just returned from a 2 week vacation in this home. First I will say that the home is actually larger than the pictures represent. I thought that it being a log cabin – it would be smaller – but we actually had more than plenty of space for 10 people. The kitchen was stocked with the essentials and we loved the big kitchen table and view of the lake. The location of the home was great! Very close access to boat launch, restaurants and the store. In addition – the little cove that the home is on was great for use of the kayak and paddle-boat (definitely should rent these!) – we were quite comfortable with letting our kids play out there without worrying about boat traffic. The yard was great – plenty of space for the kids to run around with options for both sun and shade and the fire pit was a huge hit for roasting marshmallows! We also really enjoyed watching the sunset with a glass of wine from the top of the dock.

The only negative experience of our vacation was the fact that the boat & Jet Ski lifts were a challenge for most of our visit. The property manager – Randy was AWESOME and tried to help as much as he could, but we learned that most people that rent the home do not bring boats or jet skis but maybe rent a pontoon boat that they tie up – if that is you then this is a GREAT place for that! If you do plan to bring a boat or jet ski – you will want to make sure that the lifts have actually been serviced and have tested with weight on them going all the way up and down multiple times.

Our family would absolutely consider renting this house again!
