Potter's Wheel, located in the small hamlet of Water Yeat, is enviably positioned just seconds from the quiet South Western shores of Coniston Water. This quintessential home away from home is the epitome of a traditional Lakeland cottage and the out-pouring of love from the property owners doesn’t go unnoticed, making this the perfect base to explore some of The Lake District’s unspoilt gems.

The period lead windows, rock faced lounge and original beamed ceilings are paired with modern day amenities and tasteful accessories, striking the perfect balance between the old and the new.

An up-to-the-minute dining kitchen, two comfortable bedrooms and one family house bathroom make up the basis of this ‘olde worlde’ cottage, while the undeniably unique lounge sits at the front of the house. With its feature log burning stove, original spiral staircase and comfortable seating for the whole family, this is without a doubt the beating heart of this charming home.

Not forgetting the reason everyone falls in love with this cottage: the lake access! Step out from the front door and within seconds you’ll have journeyed through the private woodland and be embracing the purity of Lakeland waters. Lovely small cottage with everything you need for a comfortable holiday. Two nice bedrooms, modern fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with excellent walk in shower. Great if you want private and direct access to beautiful Lake Coniston for any water activities.

Comfortable property that suited us well.

Clean, comfortable and warm. Very useful folder of information, intelligently written. Plus appliance manuals for cooker, dishwasher etc. There were just the two of us - which meant we did not need to use the spiral staircase. Kitchen well equipped with good quality utensils.

Lovely cosy lakeside cottage

Generally a charming, pretty, comfortable little cottage. Was almost perfect for what we needed. If being picky: we couldnt get terrestrial TV channels (may say more about us) to work underfloor heating difficult to programme and didnt seem to work downstairs bedroom lake facing blind is too small and lets in light. needs to be larger. probably needs another lavatory if 4 people staying for extended time

Thank you for your review, Jonny. We're delighted to hear that you found the cottage to be almost perfect. For future guests, live television is accessed via the Smart TV apps rather than through traditional terrestrial channels. For example, BBC One can be viewed through the BBC iPlayer app. The underfloor heating in the twin bedroom and bathroom is also designed to maintain a steady background temperature. Both of these features are explained in the property information folder, and we would have been very happy to assist had you contacted us during your stay. We do hope neither issue caused you too much inconvenience. Thank you also for bringing the blind to our attention. This has not been raised previously, but we will certainly investigate. As with many traditional Lakeland cottages, the property has a cosy and compact layout, which forms part of its character. While adding a second WC alongside the recently fitted shower room is unfortunately not something that would be practical, your comments may be helpful to future guests considering an extended stay with four people. Thank you again for your feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and hope to welcome you back in the future.

Another super stay.

From the young deer passing through the surrounding woodland, to the tranquil views over the lake, this was another lovely stay at Potter's Wheel. The upgrades to the cottage have offered additional quality to what was already on offer in terms of location and character. The walk in shower is a great addition, and the kitchen has everything you need. We were able to really relax (much needed) and enjoy our stay. Very much hope to stay again soon. Thank you to Ross, for all the helpful information and personalised customer service.

Cosy lakeside break

We had a wonderful week at Potter's Wheel - if you paddleboard or kayak, the location is superb as Coniston Water is minutes from the front door. The 2 bedrooms are lovely and the kitchen is very well equipped. We loved it and will come back!

A beautiful cottage on Coniston water.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was easy to find with the travel instructions we received . The cottage was well equipped and cosy, perfect for all our needs. Being so close to Coniston water made the stay all the more enjoyable. We spent alot of time kayaking and paddle boarding from the bottom of the garden. We had a great week trying new walks nearby. We would definitely book this cottage again, it was picturesque in a beautiful setting.

Loved our stay at the Potter’s Wheel. The lake at the bottom of the Garden.!

Loved how close to the lake it was. It’s one of the cleanest we have stayed in, attention to detail and everything we needed was provided. Communication before our stay was excellent, check in was easy, Ross kindly called to say we could check in early. Great location for someone who wants a quiet relaxing time away and easy access to the lake .We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Potter’s Wheel and will definitely return . .

What a place!

Does what it says on the tin

Quirky little cottage with everything we wanted and a lot more besides in a secluded location with a private beach. Our well behaved dog was immediately at home in her new surroundings There was ample parking. The wifi code needs to be read very carefully as it's not as obvious as it appears first glance.

A great stay!

Potters Wheel was very clean upon arrival. A lovely cottage in a very nice peaceful and quiet location. Ross's professional and friendly approach has been excellent. I would not hesitate in recommending Tarn and Fell Eascapes. Looking forward to our next booking in December.

Great place as a base camp for walks

On a walking holiday in the lakes with a friend, my dog and me, weather not great so we were grateful for a tidy, clean escape from the weather. It’s in a quiet peaceful location but well positioned for access to walks and local towns. Very nice dog-friendly pub in Coniston (The Bull). Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends & family.

A fabulous stay!

We had 4 nights at Potters Wheel and it was perfect! The cottage is so cosy and we loved having the log fire! The location is fab and our dog loved having access to the lake so she could go swimming! The property was clean and tidy and we had no complaints! The bed was super comfortable! We would love to return!

Christmas by the lake

We spent a wonderful week at Potters Wheel over Christmas. The location is stunning and the accommodation beautifully presented with everything we needed for a super comfortable stay. Communication with Ross at Tarn & Fell was excellent throughout and we really appreciated all the extra touches including a lovely Christmas tree. Big thank you for making our stay extra special.
