The house is a traditional ‘maison de village’ situated in the centre of a pretty village. It has 3 double bedrooms and a large terrace with panoramic views - Mount Canigou to the left and the Mediterranean sea to the right.

The beach at Argelès-sur-Mer is 15 minutes by car and the heart of the mountains a 30 minute drive away. The border with Spain is 10 minutes by car with Barcelona a leisurely 2 hour drive south. There is an abundance of activities in the area all year round for both the young and old and the picturesque fishing village of Collioure is well worth a visit, as is Cèret with its famous art museum and the beach and marina at Argelès-sur-Mer.

Generally speaking, the area enjoys long, hot summers and relatively short, cold winters with warm springs and autumns. It is officially proclaimed to have more than 300 days of sunshine. The area is ideal for families, walkers, beach enthusiasts, arts lovers and people who love great weather, food and wine!

The village has a small food market once a week, local wine producer and communal sports amenities (tennis court, football/basketball court and playground). The local supermarket is located 10 mins away by car in Laroque des Albères.

The house has been completely refurbished with electric heating and fully equipped kitchen. Facilities include the terrace with outside eating area and loungers, barbecue, satellite television, DVD player, CD player, WiFi, washing machine and dishwasher.

The house is professionally checked and cleaned before your stay and our local manager is available to provide help with any issues.

Montesquieu des Albères is a small village set in the Albères foothills of the Pyrénées Orientales close to the mediterranean sea. The Albères is the mountain range forming the eastern section of the Pyrénées and its foothills are dotted by charming, tranquil, medieval villages.

Close to the border of France and Spain, the Pyrénées Orientales has a strong Catalan influence. This cross-border region of the Pyrénées Orientales and Catalunya has a unique identity and language and is indisputably cosmopolitan, rich in heritage and culturally independent.

The location offers a vast array of activities both sides of the border including beach life, watersports, walking/trekking, wine tours, golf, historic sightseeing, art museums and natural spectacles. Local food and wine production is of the highest standard and Catalan gastronomy is renowned.

Family holiday

We loved the property- authentic and charming but modernised very effectively. Glad our cars weren’t big as the lanes and parking required some skill! Kevin was a great host so thanks to him. All the local towns were stunning - -great beaches and we loved our day at the lake. Very sad to leave such a stunning place.

Home far from Home

A spacious well decorated House with very good beds (important!) and a lovely view from the terrace. Well equipped kitchen. The fans work well and are a gift in the warm summer.

Perfect holiday in perfect frames

We have spend 2 weeks in Kevins wonderfull house in Montesquieu. It was the perfect base for us, very spacious, and a outstanding terrace with wiev all the way to the sea. (But yuo should remove the two pine trees :-)) We loved the village and all the friendly people who lived there. I can only recommend the house to the other tenants!!! Lasse/Denmark

Fantastic large house with beautiful views

This house in Montesquieu des Alberes was beautiful and absolutely perfect for us. We loved the spacious size of it and the facilities it had. We found it extremely well equipped with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. It was clean and well maintained. The bedrooms were large and spacious with magnificent views from the windows. It has a huge safe walled balcony area which is great for outside dining, BBQ and soaking up the sun. Parking was a little tricky as the roads near the house were quite narrow with limited parking spaces available. Most of the time you needed to park a little further back which didn't cause much of a problem or reflect on the location of the house in any way. The village was beautiful and friendly. A small circus came to the village which was a great family run show. On a Thursday evening a pizza van comes to the village and makes fantastic home made pizza to order. There is no shop in the village but there is one in the next village and a large supermarket a short drive away. The house is very well situated for exploring the surrounding area with some fabulous large sandy beaches nearby and beautiful coastal roads. Our favourite places to visit were: Castelnou - a beautiful mountain village. Collioure & Port Vendres - two very attractive harbours. Cucugnan - a beautiful mountain fortress village. Villefranche & Mont Louis - the yellow train is a must. Tautavel - prehistoric site and museum. Plan D'Eau - two beautiful large lakes with water ski and many activities for children and adults. Barcelona - this is a must. It was only a 2 hour drive away and there was a lot to see however it can be quite expensive. The gaudi architecture at Park Guell and Sagrada Familia were fantastic. The whole area was a beautiful region of France with so much to see and not enough time to see it in one go. The owner Kevin Holloway provided excellent customer service and was extremely helpful and responsive with any questions we asked. The whole experience from the initial first contact through to the booking of the house, the holiday itself and the aftercare service on our return was a pleasant one and just what we required from our well earned holiday. A big thank you to the owner Kevin for making our stay such a pleasant and enjoyable one and we hope to return to the area in the near future and stay at this property again. We would highly recommend this property to our friends and family.

Blick auf die Pyrinäen

Kleines Haus mit grosser Terrasse und wunderbarem Rundblick. Gut zu erreichen. Guter Ausgangspunkt für unterschiedliche Unternehmungen. Strand, Stadt, Wandern oder Grenzübergreifende Ausflüge. Das Haus ist gut ausgestattet mit allem was man braucht. Ein guter Ort um zu entspannen. Man benötigt aber unbedingt ein Fahrzeug. Einkauf etc. Ist nicht fussläufig möglich. Das Haus ist nicht gut geeignet für Menschen mit Mobilitätsproblemen. Ansonsten ein rundum guter Ort. Die Kommunikation mit dem Besitzer ist unproblematisch und sehr freundlich.

Bonne situation et logement spacieux mais gros souci de propreté

Arrivée autonome, un peu de mal à ouvrir le portillon pour trouver la clé. Maison assez spacieuse, chambres à l'étage, terrasse avec une vue très agréable. la maison est au calme, dans une impasse. Gros souci de propreté par contre, maison trouvée sale, poussiéreuse et sol plein de miettes, un paquet de chips sous le lit, cafetière pas vidée avec du moisi, barbecue plein de cendres et plein d'eau. on a du refaire le menage complet, relaver la vaisselle. sentiment assez mitigé de façon globale donc

Unfortunately we had a new cleaner for this changeover and the clean was not to the expected standard as they were not familiar with the house. Stephane mentioned the cleaning issue at the time via email but said “That’s fine, I’m not complaining however, just reporting”. I did want to rectify the situation and my property manager tried to contact Stephane in order for the cleaner to return to the house to re-clean but he did not respond. I also refunded part of the rental cost to cover the inconvenience. Stephane has since said that he wanted to revise his review following the efforts made to rectify the situation but the Vrbo review system does not allow it.

Schönes altes Haus in toller Lage

Wir haben uns in dem Haus sehr wohl gefühlt. Es ist mit allem ausgestattet, was man für den Urlaub braucht, wobei wir immer selbst gekocht haben. Toll ist die sehr große Terrasse auf der wir uns hauptsächlich aufgehalten haben. Da der Sitzbereich überdacht ist, konnte wir uns auch im Hochsommer bei heißen Temperaturen draussen aufhalten. Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter hat tadellos geklappt.

Prachtige locatie

Prachtige dorpswoning van alle gemakken voorzien met een heel mooi uitzicht. Het enige minpuntje is dat het huis er vochtig ruikt.

Idéal pour un séjour en famille ou entre amis

Grande maison sur plusieurs étages : propre, confortable, pratique. Bien située dans l'arrière-pays dans un petit village au calme à 20mn de la plage d'Argelès sur mer. Multiples activités aux alentours. Perpignan à 25mn. La terrasse est grande, conviviale et se prête volontiers au farniente ou à un barbecue. L'accès au WIFI est facile. L'intérieur est aménagé pour inviter au repos et pour vous faciliter la vie. Draps et serviettes fournies.Propriétaire accueillant. Bref si vous êtes à la recherche du calme, du confort et d'une maison avec de l'espace alors réservez, vous ne serez pas déçus.

Nettes Dorfhaus mit kleinen Einschränkungen

Dieses Dorfhaus hat viel Platz , ist gut eingerichtet, die Terrasse groß mit einem wunderbaren Weitblick in die Ebene. Es war sehr sauber! Allerdings ist es wohl den Umständen entsprechend in der vergangenen Zeit länger unbewohnbar geblieben und war daher ziemlich muffig (was normal ist bei länger leerstehenden Dorfhäusern). Ein paar Tage vorher richtig durchgelüftet wäre wünschenswert gewesen. Ein beachtenswerter Nachteil ist, das es vor den Fenstern des Hauses keinen Insektenschutz gibt. Die gute Möglichkeit des Durchzugs im Haus ging mit dem Besuch vieler Insekten und auch Eidechsen einher, was trotz Einreibens einige Mückenattacken mit tagelangem Juckreiz einbrachte und war damit eine echte Einschränkung, auch den Muff im Haus schneller loszuwerden. Davon abgesehen ist dieses Haus als Unterkunft zu empfehlen, wenn man großzügigen Platz und die Ruhe eines einfachen Dorfes bevorzugt. Leider wurden während unseres Aufenthaltes neue Wasserleitungen oben im ganzen Dorf neu verlegt, so dass wir morgens gegen 8 Uhr (Gott sei Dank sind Franzosen nicht solche Früharbeiter wie viele Deutschen!) durch Presslufthammer und Bagger geweckt wurden. Die nächsten Mieter können die neuen Leitungen genießen und auch wieder oben um die Ecke des Hauses parken, was uns nicht vergönnt war.

Une maison de village lumineuse et agreable

Une maison de village idéalement située, avec une vue incroyable sur la plaine, la mer et le Canigou. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié la luminosité de toutes les pièces, la propreté de cette vieille maison bien entretenue, la répartition des pièces qui fait que chaque chambre est vraiment isolée des autres, et de l espace de vie commun au rez de chaussée. La communication avec le propriétaire s est faite à distance, mais était parfaite. On a échangé très rapidement et naturellement autour de la location, et malgré la distance (nous sommes arrivés seuls et n avons vu personne, C était prévu), nous nous sommes sentis vraiment accueillis. Là cuisine est aussi très bien équipée. Bref, on se sent tout de suite très bien dans cette maison, ce qui est important quand on vient comme nous pour 3 jours.

Une terrasse et une vue magnifiques!

La maison est très agréabke et très bien équipée, rien ne manque pour passer un merveilleux séjour. Très joli village, très calme et très bien situé entre mer et montagne. Nous nous sommes régalés! Kevin est un hôte charmant et soucieux du bien être de ses locataires. Un grand merci!

Maison ancienne mais spacieuse et très bien équipée, grande terrasse et magnifique vue sur montagnes et mer . Petit village calme sans commerce ouvert en ce plein été, mais il y en a à quelques km Seuls bémols, non directement liés à la propriété : coq du voisinage très matinal et infatigable, et anti moustiques nécessaire le soir pour profiter agréablement de l'extérieur

Lovely house, quiet village and Impressive views.

The house is lovely and ideal for a family retreat. The roads and parking from the house are really restricted due to the narrow streets however this did not cause a problem. The house was well equipped with all the necessities that you would expect from home. The local beach/ supermarket and lake are all within a ten to twenty minute drive. We really enjoyed the lake as it has a restaurant and plenty of activities to keep our two teenage boys happy. Unfortunately there was a problem with internet and satellite TV during our stay (it was not working). This did cause some stress as you can imagine with two teenage boys but we dug deep into our pockets and paid for extra data and used our own wifi. Kevin the owner kept is up to date with information regarding the engineer. We did contact the local manager but did not get any response. I have recently been working In Intensive care during the Covid epidemic and was really looking forward to a rest. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this property. We were just unlucky. Thanks Kevin for your refund due to the issues. A lovely house with Impressive views and a friendly and knowledgeable owner.

Petit village très pittoresque et calme, parfait pour un séjour en famille. Maison agréable, mais il ne faut pas avoir peur de grimper les escaliers, car il y a 3 niveau. Très grande terrasse qui doit être agréable en été, avec sa sublime vue.

Un gîte très agréable entre mer et montagnes.

Une grande terrasse qui domine les vignobles des Alberes. Un gîte très agréable, spacieux, avec tout le matériel nécessaire (particulièrement la cuisine où il y a des ustensiles de très bonne qualité). La mer est à 20 minutes et des parcours de randonnée partent du village (attention c'est de la montagne)...Le propriétaire M. Halloway est disponible et réactif. A conseiller la table d'hôtes l'Estaca du vignobles "les foulards rouges" dans le village de Montesquieu, on y mange extrêmement bien et le vin est très bon. Tout est réuni pour passer un très bon séjour dans la sérénité, sans être dans la cohue de la côte....

Merci Christophe - Je n'ai pas visité l'Estaca dans le village mais j'ai entendu parler de bonnes choses et je le ferai certainement maintenant! Les Foulards Rouges sont l'un des nombreux bons vignerons à proximité où vous pourrez déguster des vins de qualité tels que le Mas Rous et le Moulin de Breuil.

charmante maison familiale

Une charmante maison dans un joli petit village. La maison est bien équipée et une magnifique terrassé permet de profiter avec une belle vue.

Great location if you want don't like it too touristy.

We really enjoyed our 2 weeks in this spacious, well equiped, quirky village house. All our meals where eaten on the terrace with it's wonderful far reaching views. So much to see and do - charming towns and villages to explore and a beautiful beach at Argeles-sur-Mer. Kevin was very helpful.

Très agréable séjour

Cette location alliant à la fois le charme des décors anciens et modernes nous a permis de passer un très agréable et confortable séjour et de profiter du temps toujours magnifique. La vue depuis la terrasse (immense) et les chambres est remarquable, surplombant les villages environnants et donnant sur les montagnes des Albères. La location est proche de toutes activités : plages, randos, visites de villages, commerces... Le propriétaire Kevin est particulièrement charmant et soucieux du bien-être de ses locataires : il répond toujours très vite à toutes les demandes ! Nous recommandons vraiment cette location !
