About this property

Charming historic villa in the Unesco Langhe and Monferrato Wine Region

Charming home between Langhe and Monferrato, perfect for families, friends, and small corporate retreats seeking space and comfort in the UNESCO hills, in one of "Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages", Castagnole delle Lanze.

A spacious 19th-century country chic villa set over three floors with three panoramic gardens, where you can truly feel at home. Ideal for a quality stay in a stunning area renowned for vineyards, castles, wineries, traditional cuisine, truffle and breathtaking sunsets.

Indoor and outdoor spaces.
The villa can comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests: it features 1 triple bedroom, 3 double bedrooms, one of which can be converted into a family room with 1 or 2 extra beds in an adjacent room. The property offers four bathrooms, two fully equipped kitchens, two dining rooms, four spacious living rooms dedicated to music and reading, a billiard room, table tennis and table football: every guest can find their own space to relax, work in peace or enjoy time together. The three gardens, arranged around the house, allow you to enjoy sun or shade at any time of day, with panoramic views over the hills and the rooftops of the old village.

Atmosphere and style.
This 19th‑century villa has a truly special character: it is filled with books, records and antique objects that tell a story, ideal for guests who love well‑kept spaces with a sense of history. When you are not out exploring the hills, wine cellars and historic villages, the moments spent at home listening to music, reading, browsing through books or playing billiards become as precious as the walks in the nearby towns. It is the perfect house for those seeking authenticity, beauty and calm, without giving up modern comforts such as Wi‑Fi, TV and parking.

Gardens and nature.
The gardens are a small botanical world of their own: flowering cherry trees, roses, a magnolia soulangeana and an osmanthus that, in September, fills the air with the fragrance of its small white blossoms. Here you can have breakfast outdoors, read in the shade, play with children or raise a glass of local wine at sunset. The outdoor areas are ideal both for families and for small business groups on retreat or informal team‑building stays.

Our ideal guests.
Guests particularly appreciate the atmosphere of the house, the attention to detail, the generous shared spaces and gardens, the central historic location with convenient parking; in return, we simply ask for respect for the spaces, the objects and the peace of the village, because this house is special and we wish to share it with people who will take care of it as we do.

Families, small business teams, retreats, team building.
The villa is ideal for families, groups of friends and small business teams on retreat or team‑building, looking for a quiet and inspiring place to spend leisure time, work together, exchange ideas and relax. The large living rooms, big tables and three gardens allow you to alternate informal work sessions and convivial moments in an authentic and peaceful setting. It is also a perfect solution for guests attending local events and trade fairs who are looking for a charming alternative to standard business hotels.

Exclusive access.
Guests have exclusive access to the entire villa and the three gardens, with no spaces shared with other people. We personally welcome our guests and introduce the house, explaining all available amenities. During your stay, upon request, a trusted local assistant who lives near the villa is available for support and housekeeping services.

Location.

Our property is located in the heart of Castagnole delle Lanze, officially listed among Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages and awarded the prestigious Orange Flag by the Italian Touring Club, for excellence in tourism and heritage preservation.

Nestled in the UNESCO World Heritage hills of Langhe, Roero and Monferrato, the village is surrounded by vineyards producing world-famous Moscato d’Asti and Barbera d’Asti DOCG wines.

The historic medieval center offers panoramic viewpoints, charming narrow streets, traditional trattorias and authentic Italian atmosphere — far from mass tourism.

Perfect base to explore:

Alba (20 min) – home of the White Truffle Festival
Asti (25 min) – historic town and sparkling wine capital
Langhe wine region & boutique wineries
Wine tastings and culinary experiences

Ideal for couples, wine lovers, food travelers and anyone seeking a relaxing stay in the Italian countryside.

Elegant and spacious house in a breathtaking old village, we immediately felt at home. We were welcomed by Fabrizio who gave us an extended tour, so very kind! The kitchen is very, very well equiped and we enjoyed long and cozy family-meals at the big table near the fireplace. Although it was mid-winter, we had our morningcoffee in the sun in the beautifull gardens. Many restaurants and nice villages to visit by car or by foot. Would highly recommend this house if you want to experience the region with a lovely well-kept villa as your home-base!

About the host

I am a retired electronic engineer, I worked at Olivetti electronics in my jouth, my wife is a psychiatrist and cognitive behavioral psychotherapist. We live in Milano. Our daughter lives in Ann Arbor and we visit frequently the United States.
We spent many years, improving and fixing our house, and garden. In our family it has always be the place to be all together having dinner with friends and visiting around.

Why they chose this property

The family of my mother was from Castagnole, and since I was a child I came every summer visiting relatives and friends. So when I married relatively late I was very happy that my wife adopted and loved the village, the area and in general this part of my life. To enjoy the area and the house has been an important part of our life together.

What makes this property unique

Our property is located on the top of the village with an incredible view of the alps mountains and valleys. The house is large and comfortable without being pretentious.
