We’re so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Laggandu... the peaceful surroundings and the wildlife, the deer visiting the garden and the morning birdsong really do make it a special place. You’re absolutely right - the quiet, secluded setting may not suit everyone but for those looking to relax and reconnect with nature it can be quite magical. We’d love to welcome you back again in the future.

Location, location, location.

What a stunning cottage, peace space and tranquility. We have had a wonderful stay walks from the door, wildlife in the garden and a stunning clean and cosy cottage. What more could you ask for. Thank you to the whole team, you do a brilliant job.

You do really find yourlself immersed in the peace and tranquility of the estate when you arrive at Dorback and it is a haven for wildlife with deer often being spotted in the garden by guests. Due to the remoteness Laggandhu also benefits from very little light polution so you can relax in the hot tub under a canopy of stars with a chance of glimpsing the Northern Lights if you're lucky! We are delighted you enjoyed your stay, thank you for leaving such a positive review of your stay.

A true Cairngorms escape

Fantastic location on the Dorback estate with views across to the Mountains. The cottage is well equipped and homely with two real fires. Not far from Nethy Bridge it felt we were nestled in the forest with wildlife all around.

A relaxing, peaceful, location within the Cairngorms.

We stayed for a week in February at Laggandhu. What a fantastic location; waking up to snow capped Mountain views and occasionally deer in the field behind the cottage. The cottage was ideal for our family of five and the Wood Fired Hot Tub was wonderful. Plenty of stargazing, no light pollution, listening to nothing but the occasional sounds of wildlife. The appearance of deer, on most days, and watching the birds of prey enhanced our stay. Thank you to the team at Great North Lodges.

Peaceful, quiet, comfortable and warm

Arriving just as Storm Dave set in, we were very happy to find the isolated Laggandhu very warm and comfortable. The kitchen is well organised and easy to work in. The lounge is toasty warm and cosy. Also the bedrooms are comfortably arranged. Firm beds and clean bed linen. The bathroom is nicely spacious and clean, as well as the first floor shower being ideal. Enjoying the outstanding snowy views from the hot tub in the snow is a special experience. When the snow cleared, we enjoyed sitting out on the deck, just soaking up the serenity and watching the wildlife right on the doorstep. Walks in the estate were also lovely. We visited the Fae Bothy and again enjoyed the spectacular views. Would have been nice to know if the building was accessible to visitors, but on a lovely sunny day this was no great issue. Fun things to do in the surrounding area included many walks, mountain biking at Glenlivet, canoeing on the Spey and visits to the cafe in Nethy Bridge. Everyone agreed that we'd like to go back and get another fill of peaceful solitude.

A Magical Stay in the Scottish Highlands

We had the most wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage in Scotland. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning views and peaceful surroundings. The lawn area was perfect for relaxing—we spent several evenings sitting outside with a glass of wine, soaking in the tranquility. It truly felt like a private escape, far from other houses and completely serene. One of the highlights was the incredible wildlife right in the garden! We spotted deer, buzzards, a pine marten, and even tiny shrews. Bryce kindly brought us a camera trap, and we were lucky enough to capture footage of the pine marten—an absolutely magical experience. The cottage itself was spotless and very well-equipped. The cot and highchair were perfect for our little one, and the kitchen had everything we needed—nothing was missing! The downstairs area was beautifully designed, with a spacious, open kitchen and breathtaking views. The living room was cosy and inviting, ideal for relaxing after a day of exploring. We also had a fantastic jeep trip with Ian in the Land Rover—great fun and a brilliant way to see the spectacular estate. The thoughtful touches like the apple juice, shortbread, and coffee on arrival made us feel so welcome. The shower was powerful and refreshing, a real treat after a long walk. The location is ideal—close to Nethy Bridge, Grantown, and Aviemore, yet much more private and secluded than anywhere we've stayed before. We couldn’t have asked for a better holiday. Highly recommended, and we can't wait to return!
