About Lykele & Cathy Tamminga
Howdy, Im Lykele Tamminga but you can call me Lee and Cathy and our fur child, Fia. I am from a small northern farm town in Holland and moved to Waxahachie in 1984. I grow up on a dairy farm in Holland and Waxahachie. Cathy is from Hickory NC and moved to Texas in 1979. We were Jr.High sweethearts for 2 years then we went our separate ways. 25 years later we end up back together. We both grow up here... literally just across the fields. I am a grain harvester and work 4 months a year and Cathy is an Insurance Agent that works from home. We wanted to share our unique Silo House with others while we are gone for harvest.
Lykele & Cathy Tamminga purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2013
Why Lykele & Cathy Tamminga chose Waxahachie
After the family dairy stopped milking I decided to recycle the grain silo... into our house. I had 15 acres to put it on, so I welding two trailers together and hooked up to the tractor and away we went. I did all the welding and fabrication and had a local builder help with the framing and interior. I studied the sunrises and sunsets so that you could see both views from inside. It truly is peaceful and quiet out here. You can truly feel like you are the only people on Earth.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
Some of the most beautiful sunrise and sunsets...Weather sitting on the porch or the balcony. There is always a breeze at The Silo House which is great for the Hammock and Tree swing in The BIg Foot Forest. Plus you get to stay in a round house that once feed thousands of Dairy Cows... Pretty Cool. And check out our little/big town of Waxahachie. So much to do and see here for all walks of life.

The Place was GREAT! Perfect getaway!
Everything on the pictures is current. All accessories needed down to a wine chiller plus a turntable with old vinyls LPs.
The only difference was they left the Christmas tree up for me. We celebrated by birthday here, and I could not have imagined a better place. I look forward to returning.
My husband and I enjoyed spending Christmas at the Silo house. It was decorated for the holidays too! Great quiet location and a short drive to downtown Waxahachie. The water pressure was the best. The kitchen is nicely furnished and just a charming place to stay. We will be back! We had great weather and sat outside every night by the fire pit too.
This is a very nice place, there a couple of glitches but the owner tried to address them as quickly as possible
Thank you, come to find out the refrigerator got set to demo. Just glad it didn't go out.
This property is perfectly located for an easy getaway. It's close enough to town to enjoy the restaurants and shopping and just far enough away to enjoy a peaceful country evening without the background of city noise. The house was spotless and very well decorated. All of the essentials were there and easy to find. I would highly recommend this property to anyone interested!
Great weekend Getaway
My husband and I visited some friends out in Waxahachie. Loved that we stayed at the silo. It was a relaxing location, while still close to town, and a really unique house. We would absolutely stay there again!
Great place! Fun, clean, perfect for relaxing. I was very busy and was having meetings in Grand Prairie daily. Didn’t get to relax as much as I wanted but when I did it was great. Even had an owl who Hooted at night for a couple minutes every night. You’ll love the uniqueness and extras that set apart from the norm.
